Easy Installation, Modern and Stylish, Very Quiet
I'll state up front that this is a review based mostly upon the installation and initial testing, and not years of use. We bought this smaller fan for our nursery to replace a simple two-bulb light fixture. The nursery is fairly small, and after doing some research, we determined this fan was just the right size (with a few inches to spare). Installation was relatively easy, except for one gripe: one of the very first steps is referring to the electrical support box in your ceiling, and has a single simple image with a one or two sentence bit of instruction. It was very vague as to what was being referenced to use in the electrical box, and it took me a good 10 or 15 minutes of screwing around to figure out that I was trying to use the wrong screws from the electrical box (I mistook the proper screws for being ones that might have been holding the box in place in the ceiling; they were not). Now, before you really deride me for being a dummy, know that the instructions for this fan do a poor job of representing to-scale images of the different screws, bolts, and connectors you'll use. A simple indication of size would have helped clear up a lot of confusion. That said, except for the electrical box issue, most of the confusion can be cleared up by process of elimination, and for most of the parts that come with the fan, the instructions reference the baggies the parts come in by the "rune" (random shapes; who KNOWS who came up with them) on the baggie. Beyond the very first confusingly vague step, the rest of the instructions are like adult Legos: the images are big, simple, and clearly diagramed, and broken down into easy to understand steps. It's also nice that each section of the fan you assemble is concluded clearly with a "You're all done!" declaration (avoiding any possible confusion on whether the next step is somehow a secondary part for the previous component). After installation, the fan performs wonderfully. We have a full-size Hunter fan in our bedroom that's actually louder than this one, but only two years older. When turning on this fan, you can't even hear the motor. In our older, larger fan, if you go from off to high speed, you can hear the motor accelerating. You can also hear a rhythmic whirring from the motor as it maintains speed. That's not the case for this Newsome model: it's completely silent, which is excellent for a nursery. Airflow seems fairly good too, though I have to wonder if flush-mounting a fan reduces how much it can move the air around. Fan is also very steady, with zero visible wobble. There's a balancing kit included in the box, but it wasn't needed. One last, minor pro: the fan comes with an extra little bracket that goes inside the little dome cap at the base of the glass bowl. Our other Hunter fan doesn't have this, so when you're changing a light, you have to carefully remove the two pieces below the bowl, while holding the big heavy bowl up. Finally, for those who might be doing this: I installed a third-party (Westinghouse) remote system into this fan. It works beautifully. The receiver for the wall remote fits snuggly and near-perfectly up inside the mounting bracket (not visible when completed; the big drum above the fan blades is entirely decorative and installs over the bracket and motor to hide this from sight).

Nothing I can say here, it's a HUNTER fan.
I have several Hunter fans in our home. I had the house built for me so, originally, I had the electrician install Hunters in all of the rooms EXCEPT ONE. In that single small room I had a small off-brand cheap-o fan installed - Major mistake in my planning. That little squeak pot made more NOISE than all the other Hunter fans in the house combined. OK, so I plunked down some $ for this 'Hunter Newsome' fan and installed it (very easy installation) myself. Oh my, what a major improvement in the noise level. QUIET is the word for the Newsome fan. Pushes tons of air even on medium and low speed, plenty for a small room. I give it five stars, I like the fan. Be sure to read the instructions thoroughly as there are some little tweaking points that are important. I am adding another comment here on 3/2/2021. I bought a SECOND one of these Hunter 51080 fans to replace an old fan which had four โdown lightsโ (old style ceiling fan). The four down lights were awful as they shone straight into your eyes. To resolve the snow blinding effect I bought a second 51080, problem solved! The Hunter has a pleasing globe light and is totally silent just like my first 51080. This fan runs QUIETLY, really QUIET. Get some help installing these fans or you will be chasing up-and-down a ladder constantly to retrieve dropped screws, next part(s), and tools practicing their skydiving. The tools will have a great time but you wonโt.

Great fan, Great company
Other than my old house wiring the Fan was pretty easy to install and came with all necessary parts. It might be larger than I need but I kinda like that and its doing exactly what I wanted which is pushing the warm air from the wood stove into the rest of the house, It is very quiet. I love the style and the LED lights and Amber globe provide perfect lighting for the room not to bright or shining in your face like the candelabra types. I accidentally ordered 2 of these, 1 on Amazon and the other directly from Hunter, I got the 1 from Hunter after I already installed the other. I contacted Hunter and they graciously let me return it for a full refund minus shipping cost, but they provided me with prepaid shipping label to return it. Excellent Customer service. I can see why they are the top rated fans on the market.

Great fan, quiet, easy to install... sorta
Had a hard time finding a 52-60" fan locally that had a close to ceiling mount. This fan mounts tight to the ceiling, looks good, is very quiet on all three speeds, and required no blade balancing. Would I buy it again, yes. I chose to add a remote control to the fan which was easy to wire up but tricky to mount the receiver portion under the motor canopy. Had to attach to side of the mounting bracket via tie-wraps in order to keep the receiver and wiring from contacting the spinning motor. Would I wire in a remote again.... maybe but it would require Advil and beers.

Generic looks, quiet operation, not too difficult to install.
This fan does not make a statement and that is exactly what I wanted. It mostly just blends into the ceiling. The paint is fairly uniform shade of white across the housing and blades, although the blades have less sheen. The glass light cover is uniform in shade and neutral in color. There is a small gap between the top of the housing and the ceiling that casts a shadow, but it isn't bad. The two included LED light bulbs are 800 lumens, 9W, and soft white (3000K) in color. On the lowest setting, it is nearly silent. There is no AC motor hum and only the slightest of bearing noise, making it great for nighttime use in the bedroom. Even on higher settings, the motor hum is nearly inaudible. Installation wasn't as easy as other fans, including older model Hunter fans, that I've installed. The most difficult part was getting my wiring connections back up into the ceiling box. When the motor was sitting in the cradle of the ceiling mount, there wasn't much room to get my hand in there to push the wires and caps through the small opening in the mount. If I held the mount off to the side by hand, a ground wire would pull free. Also, the side pull chain will get tangled in the plastic washer for the light shade as you are almost done tightening it. On the plus side, all of the parts came well organized and they included a bag of extra bolts. Speaking of chains, the pull action on the center chain controlling the light was nice and smooth. The same cannot be said of the side chain controlling the fan speed, especially when compared to older Hunter fans I've owned. Had installation of this fan been easier, it would have been 5 stars. I recommend it, but just be prepared for a little frustration.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND HUNTER - QUALITY FANS
Dear Hunter, don't discontinue this fan! It is the perfect flush mount white fan with a light. Hunter's website didn't have this particular fan with a plain white light kit and 5 blades. Instead, they had something similar with only 4 blades and an etched design in the glass globe - not a fan of that look. I was surprised to find the exact fan I was looking for on Amazon, had no idea that Hunter had a store on Amazon. While I prefer to buy items like this directly from the manufacturer, this was as close to direct as you can get - even shipped from Hunter's warehouse. My fans run constantly 24/7 and you need quality that lasts - Hunter is the only brand I will buy. If you have any issues with any hunter fans, most likely you didn't install it correctly. The housing needs to be flush and you need a 3-way switch. Don't use a toggle switch to control fan speed. I was amazed to find this out. Now that I have an electrician that is fantastic and charges fairly, no more DIY electrical projects for me. My electrician installed a 3-way fan speed switch on both the newly installed fan and an existing fan that had been humming for years. While he wasn't sure if would work on the older fan (since I have been taxing the motor all these years). Now I have two whisper quiet fans. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Big fan! (pun intended)
This went up very easily. Its been running for many months with no noise. It's way closer to the ceiling than the one I replaced which is great fro my 6 foot tall son lol. I've owned many Hunter fans, and I continue to go with them. It looks great, it offers plenty of windflow, and I just added a little higher wattage LED bulbs to light the entire room above the stock bulbs.

Finally a good Amazon product!
Let me start by saying I'm not an electrician. I never worked with wiring appliances before, and this was the first time I've ever even changed a light bulb in a ceiling light let alone accessed my breaker box. What I'm trying to say is that I'm basic as all hell when it comes to installing something like this. That out of the way, here's why this was one of the best purchases I've made yet on this site! The fan arrived neatly packaged with literally everything you need to install it EXCEPT for a Phillips screwdriver (you just need one- the fan uses the same type of screw for every part of the setup). Taking off the old fan was the worst part of the process, and as soon as I got to assembling the new one it was soooooo much easier than I thought it would be!! The instructions give clear images and explanations for newbies, bags are all labelled so you know exactly what to open for parts when, and it even includes wire caps/light bulbs/washers/alternative mounting hardware/etc. should you need it. You have plenty of room to work with when your connecting wires and the only issue I ran into was not being able to access my attic to secure the additional and extra support wire around a ceiling beam (this is not needed). Honestly if you're willing I bet you could task your teenager with installing this- it's that easy to do. The fan itself is beautifully balanced once installed and looks fantastic! The light is comfortably bright and the hardware mounts flush with your ceiling (don't worry, you'll have the parts you need if you want it on a support rod too!). I am absolutely going to be buying another hunter fan for my guest room once I get the initiative to get out and up on my ladder again. AMAZING PRODUCT!!!

Really easy to assemble and mount - did it by myself without my husband's help.
Really happy with this fan. Have bought and installed many a ceiling fan in my lifetime and yes, they can be a pain in the butt, but this is my first Hunter fan, purchased because of some youtube video recommendations as well as other people's Amazon reviews (thank you). I was intending to spray paint the blades white but decided to keep the dark wood finish that came with the fan as it looks quite a bit nicer than I thought it would (blades have two different wood look finishes). The fan looks beautiful, runs very silently and smoothly (didn't need to balance the blades) and most importantly, it really was easy to install by myself without having to bug my husband to help me with it. Well worth the price!
