Our shop has excellent air handling equipment but still
In our large Green Valley woodworking shop, these filters and the 3M P95 mask they attach to, remove everything that cause my sensitivities to act up. Our shop has excellent air handling equipment but still, like in all shops, and when working directly with the machines, particulates can still be an issue resulting in a drippy nose or worse. This mask with the filters remove all of the bad stuff. The filters last a long time before needing replacement - in my case about 6 months before replacing the filter. In my view, the 3M mask with the replacement filters are much less expensive with better results than the paper masks we usually wear as woodworkers. Excellent choice for anyone. Thank you Amazon and 3M for this inexpensive and quality product and for the available replacement filters.

Very good airflow and effective particulate filtration
As most have mentioned these are great filters and the price can't be beat as compared to buying from a brick and mortar store. My setup for this is as follows... - 3M 5P71PB1 6000 Series Particulate...

Ok
Received package and the filters were loose and not in a box which was strange but they work well.

Filter are great but don't buy from "Sky Trading".
The filters are fine. I've been using the two sets that came with the mask and it is great. I dropped it two stars because it took over six weeks to get them to me. I think they ship by ox cart from Mongolia to Shanghai. Transfer to a junk for the trip across the Pacific ocean and finally drop it in a mailbox when they dock in San Fransisco six weeks later. I didn't know that there was anywhere in the world that would take more than two weeks to ship a package from to get to the U.S. Just a word of warning, if ordering from "Sky Trading", reorder when you are down to a two month supply. You never know when the ox might die on the long journey or the junk lay adrift in calm winds for an extra week.:)

These prefilters speak for themselves.
I use a 3M 6300 half face piece respirator. To it, I connect a 3M 6003 Organic Vapor/Acid Gas Cartridge. The 6000 series particulate prefilter does not connect directly to the respirator. The 6003 cartridge makes the connection to the respirator and then the 6000 prefilter is put in the front of the 6003 cartridge being held in place by the 3M 501 Filter Retainer. There are particle filters such as the 3M 2091 that do attach directly to the 3M 6300 half face piece respirator. I use them too. In-between jobs, I place my 6003 cartridges and the 6000 prefilter in separate doubled up Ziploc bags to keep them as clean as possible. I have been using this particular half mask for 42 years and I've not had any trouble with it or the filters. Not the same one mind you, I've had to change them out when they become worn and tattered. But, I always buy the same mask and filters. I'm quite sure this mask setup has saved my lungs from becoming damaged over the many years I've used it. I mainly spray epoxy, conversion varnish, post, pre catalyzed, and nitrocellulose lacquers, water based finishes, and even the occasional oil based primers and paints. If my respirator is working properly, I smell nothing. I know it is time to change my filters when it becomes hard to inhale. I will continue to stand behind 3M filtration products. David F.
