Daily instruction helps students learn and practice comprehension and language skills that will help them become proficient readers! Review: Great - Children enjoy it. Review: Awesome for beginners readers - Just what I was looking for. I work with children that are learning English and students who have reading difficulties . This book is perfect because it starts off easy with phonics and sight words and gets a little more challenging at the end. In addition, it explains what children will be learning in each story.

Helped with reading and confidence
I bought both the Grade 1 and Grade 2 Daily Reading Comprehension Evan Moor books for my daughter's reading comprehension. We started when she was seven and finished when she was eight. She had completed the All About Reading program a few years before and she seemed to read well, but for some reason she didn't seem to retain the information or understand it. Also she would not read to herself at all. I gained the impression that she didn't think she was good at it. These books really helped my daughter to gain some confidence in her reading abilities and to understand what to pay attention to while reading. I think the first book worked better for her because the illustration with each passage engaged her. But I also think that the second book without the illustration helped her gain more confidence in her reading skills because there was no picture to clue her in. The Skill practice went well but the Strategy Practice section was too open ended and she wouldn't do it at all. Not much writing required which worked for my daughter well.

Suitable for 1st grader
My 7 years old 1st grader son's teacher told me that he is behind in reading. The teacher said that he cannot concentrate when reading together. I bought the book to help him with reading. We will read three pages at time and having him answering all the questions. The book begin with easier stories in the beginning and harder ones on the back. The reading level is suitable for 1st grader. My son is about in the middle. We finished the book in 4 weeks and now we are ready for book 2.
