Will they fit over wire tube retainers? I'm experiencing vibrations on the wire retainers of the el84's on my combo. Maybe I get the next size up?

If the wire retainer is thin and flexible it will likely still fit around the outside of the damper ring. If it's a hard non-flexible wire retainer we recommend removing it all together. These styles of retainers cause more problems than they help with. As long as your socket tension is nice and snug (which it needs to be regardless of the retainer) you're just fine without them. You must stick with this size damper for it to be effective on an EL84. Eddie/Eurotubes

Should I purchase one or two rings per tube for a preamp with 12 ax7 tubes? If just one where do I put the ring on the tube?

Hi, We recommend one damper ring per tube with normal 12A-7 pre amp tubes. We recommend running the damper ring on the upper portion of the tube, just down from the dome. Thanks, ET
