Excellent value for high quality cedar shoe trees
These deliver excellent value for high quality cedar shoe trees. They smell great and feel solidly built. The large fits fine in my 10.5 extra wide dress shoes. I’ve bought a lot of expensive cedar shoe trees in the past (Allen Edmonds, I think I have over 20 pairs of their dress shoes), the cedar scent was never that strong. With these it was pleasantly and noticeably stronger. I’ve always gone back and forth on whether I like the solid toe design or the split toe design. I think I prefer the solid toe. It has more surface area for all the cedar-y goodness.

Great Shoe Trees! If you have sizing questions, read below!
These shoe trees are great! I've never owned other shoe trees, so I cannot offer any comparisons concerning quality, but these shoe trees are very high-quality, and I can't imagine them breaking in the years to come. These are well-made, and it's obvious that Stratton uses good materials and care when producing these here in the United States. As many others will note, these smell wonderful and do actually leave your shoe smelling nicer than when you bought it! These are also very easy to use. Even though they are spring loaded, the spring is the perfect tension to put pressure on your shoe while not being difficult to compress and slide into and out of the shoe. I had a difficult time deciding on sizing for these shoe trees. When I was ordering, there was no option for medium trees. The sizes I was considering were small or large, and there is a large gap between. Now, for some references. I ordered small, which states that it will fit sizes 7-8.5. The shoes I own are Nike Structure 18s, size 10.5, Nike Free Run 4s, size 10, Cole Haan Oxfords, size 9, multiple pairs of Sperrys, sizes 9-10, etc. While a medium shoe tree may fit my shoes best, I haven't been able to try that size as they were out of stock when purchasing. HOWEVER, the small shoe trees fit ALL of my shoes so well! Even though they would seem to be too small, they fill up each shoe with pressure on both the toe and heel of the shoe. There is plenty of length to fill each shoe, which is what I worried about considering the size difference. These trees would probably fit just as well in actual small shoes ranging from 7-8.5, but they work in larger shoes as well. Bottom line: if you are on the fence, you can order a smaller tree and expect that they will work in shoes a size or so larger! (A link to the Cole Haan shoes is included here - quick plug: awesome light brown shoes for the money! [[ASIN:B01N6U0PIF Cole Haan Men's Giraldo Luxe Cap Oxford II British Tan Shoe]) Hopefully the sizing notes help if you are on the fence about what to buy. Basically, these trees adjust in a way that makes it hard to find one that doesn't fit. Overall, the quality of these is excellent, and I plan to buy more with each new pair of shoes in the future!

Top Quality, at Half the Cost Mezlan Wanted to Charge Me
I ordered a four--pack and two-pack of these shoe trees after having blown a couple thousand dollars on six pairs of lizard, ostrich, and crocodile dress shoes from Mezlam Warehouse (their online outlet store). I wear size 11.5 D "loafers" (they don't use laces, but all six pair look different and have names like "monk strap" or "horse bridle" or "penny loafer"), and I ordered Stratton's "large" size that fits 10.5 to 11.5 shoes. These come in a very nice box, individually wrapped in tissue paper. They smell great, fit perfectly in my shoes, and I cannot think of a thing they could do better. They even tell you which one is for the left shoe and which for the right! Excellent value for the money, they are designed to help my shoes retain their shape, and are very sturdy. I will die before these need to be replaced.

Great smell, fit, quality (& very well classily presented). Just what my shoes need. A seriously good shoe tree.

Keeps shape of Cole Haan shoes
High quality shoe tree that helps to smooth out and keep the shape of my Cole Haan shoes. The cedar smells great too.

Superb quality craftsmanship, but why only in multipacks?
Decided to try these for a new pair of Allen Edmonds shoes instead of the OEM ones I've always preferred since: A.) the quality of the Allen Edmonds shoe trees has plummeted in the years since their 2016 sellout, B.) these are advertised as being 100% US-grown cedar (though, interestingly, they conspicuously go out of their way not to specify where the finished product is actually *manufactured*) vs. the 75% US-grown/all-Wisconsin-made Allen Edmonds, C.) these had great reviews. I agree with the overall assessments that they're extremely well-made, as I noticed no imperfections of any kind in the wood or metal fittings, and I couldn't be happier on that specific count. I initially experienced some difficulty in actually getting them (9-10 / Medium) into my size 9D shoes, but that seems to have just been a result of 1 of the 2 springs needing to be broken in a bit, as this issue resolved itself pretty quickly. I noticed a handful of critical comments to this effect in some reviews, so I'm grateful all it required was repeatedly compressing the spring a few times. Now, that being said: they nonetheless do seem to be *ever so slightly* (like, a centimeter) longer than the AE versions of the same product "at rest," and have visibly longer toes. So this *might* present a problem if you're an "edge case" like an unusual (particularly in the A/B/C less-than-standard widths) or borderline size, or if the shoes themselves run small. I have some reservations about the fact that - as of this writing, 7 December 2023 - they're not sold individually, but rather only in multi-packs of 2, 3, and 4 pairs. (Despite a call-to-action ad graphic in the product description indicating a set of 5, this particular product listing did not contain an option for 5 pairs in the 9-10/M.) As I've been conscientious about ensuring my shoes have shoe trees all along by buying pairs of them individually as-needed, this presents a minor problem if you may only just have 1 new pair of shoes - which seems to me like it would be far more common than buying 2, 3, or 4 at a time. While I can live with the extra pair floating around somewhere in reserve (I have no idea what to do with them other than buying another pair of shoes to justify their existence), I really only needed the 1 pair, and I've never had to replace an existing one due to breakage. I understand price discrimination as an economic principle (it was the focus of my undergraduate economics major), but the *inability* to pay literally *90 cents* more apiece for only the 1 pair I needed is an issue for me. Especially in the recent climate of double digit inflation, it's *absolutely* not worth saving less than 2 bucks - let alone the opportunity cost of still having to pay upfront for the 2nd pair - to have the albatross around my closet of an extraneous pair of shoe trees waiting for a home.

Best shoe inserts
These are the only shoe trees I use. Keep your shoes looking super sharp and they're great quality. I've had a set for 20 years. They are a life time purchase and worth it.

A great buy, all around.
I purchased the XL size for my 16-yr old son's size 12 dress shoes as I've experienced the benefits of cedar shoe trees on leather shoes. Being a first time by of Stratton I was a little shocked by what I received. I felt like I was receiving a gift rather than a product. The packaging was a smart looking box with the trees wrapped in decorative tissue which delayed the unwrapping of a seriously well-made and good looking wooden shoe tree. The quality of the wood and the quality build simply rounding out a feeling of complete satisfaction with a purchase. So much so, I am writing a rare review. The XL size, which advertises a fit of 12-14, fit well and while I would like a little more spring tightness for the size 12, I get it that I'm on the bottom edge of the size range. Not a complaint but rather a "If I could have everything" wish. To the folks at Stratton; Well done and thank you for the rare and refreshing personal touch along with a quality purchase. I 'll be baaack...
