Let the wheels role,again.
This series is very good but it makes you feel dirty because all the characters seem to need a bath. I was eager to begin this series as the producers killed off a lot of the previous characters that one thought would always be a part of the story line. I've only seen a couple of episodes but one intriguing character has already caught my eye. A female reporter looks like Dr. Isle of Rizzoli and Isles. I don't think it's Sasha but could it be her sister? I wonder.

This series is an intense saga of the mid 19th century, the building of the transcontinental RR.
We had seen the original series some years ago. Since then I've tried to find it on a streaming service that we use, but never have. I bought the full box set of the series, knowing that we'll want to watch it over again through the years. The saga of the building of the transcontinental railroad is told in compelling style. All of the characters are portrayed very well; the mid 19th century issues, post-Civil War are covered intensely. I did have to hold a pillow in front of my eyes during some of the more gruesome scenes, but the story felt true, historically. And hats off to the brooding Cullen Bohannan, played so well by Anson Mount!

Not as good as season 1 and 2
After two seasons of rip roaring fun, I felt a little let down with this season. Of course, I have seen enough series to know that season 3 for many shows is a transition season and can be - well, not as good as the first two seasons. I will still purchase season 4 but not as fast as I did the first 3 seasons. I also did not view this season in one sitting like I did for the first two seasons. It is still worthy of viewing but I hope it picks back up with season 4.

The best installment of this serie by far.
Without a doubt the best installment of the series to date. It was great watching how Cullen Bohanan runs the railroad. The world would be a better place if there were more bosses like him. He takes care of his men, and they in turn take care of him. It will be interesting to see how he gets out of the Morman mess.

Outstanding Western!
"Hell on Wheels" is a fantastic show. The cast is amazing -- the scenery stunning -- the period set is perfect. With a strong lead character like Cullen Bohannon, exceptionally played by Anson Mount, AMC has all their ducks in a row with this hidden gem! The third season is as strong as the first season and excels at being interesting and entertaining.

Another gripping, powerful season, full of ever-changing fortunes. All involved are destined to suffer, some terminally. Crooked former boss Durant deviously plots his return to power. Cullen and Elam, despite differences, impressively offer the practical leadership the railroaders need. Problems multiply: trigger-happy military, a law unto themselves; Sioux, their territory held sacred; Mormon homesteaders determined to protect their property; and, of course, The Swede (he reappearing in a way that will greatly surprise). Add an outbreak of cholera, a big pit needed to bury its victims. Overshadowing all is the need to keep the proposed Union Pacific Railroad literally on track - retribution assured if deadlines are not met.... Again the emphasis is on character, so many with problems not easily (if ever) overcome. It is good to see women with influence in what is very much a man's world: former whore Eva determined to do what is best for her baby; formidable reporter Louise Ellison, dedicated to telling her readers exactly how it is. Fine scripts. A superb cast. Ten action-packed episodes. (Some may feel the last one stretches credibility a bit!) Interesting bonuses, but the order puzzles. Surely "Where We Left Off" should precede the outline of the new season and featurettes on each episode? (No "PLAY ALL" facility on this occasion.) So much impresses, not least the sight of a town slowly but surely emerging where nothing had been. Tents give way to more permanent structures - occupants so keen to make something of their lives, whatever the odds against. Totally involving and offering much to think about. In short, great.

Another year, more action, more shooting--the series still remains original and entertaining. The leads, Mount and Common, have great chemistry.
