Approximately how many times do you have to pump these? I removed the ring on the 2 ltr bottle, and after 30 pumps, still no pressure. defective?

We opened one and tested it on a 2 liter bottle that had about 1/3 of its drink gone and it took about 12 pumps to work. However we did leave the ring on our bottle. If you have the ring you may want to place it back on and try it (probably won't help but no harm in trying). I know that it depends on how full the bottle is as to how many times you have to pump it. Also try holding it slightly at an angle and see if that helps.

The pump only seems to pump air at the very end of the stroke—like the last 3mm. Is this normal?

Yes, mine is much the same. Doesn't work exactly like a bike pump where it feels like air is being pumped during the full stroke. I've had mine 8 or 9 years and it's still working great.

Is it good for the internal part of the cap to be in contact with the liquid inside the bottle? Like when you store the bottle horizontally.

I have never stored a bottle like that, however there have been times when the bottom of the fizzkeeper has made contact with the soda and I have never had a problem. I would think it would be OK.

Why is there a warning label that says it contains chemicals that have been known to cause cancer? Which chemical is in this device?

probably because it is made of plastic or i hope so just like the plastic bottles you use it for HaHa

I have been looking for these for a long time, until I found them on Amazon, with a lot of searching. I used to have 2 of them many years ago, but they somehow got lost. They do keep the fizz in your pop/soda if you use these correctly. To keep the fizz in pop, you have to pump air "into" the bottle. You have to pump many times, especially if it is a 2-litre bottle. Pump (many times) until the bottle is firm and you are good to go. This acts as a pump and a lid for the bottle. I am so happy to have found these.

Als ich nach so einem "Teil" suchte, wusste ich nicht, dass es so etwas gibt. Daher einfach mal im Web herumgegrast. Und tatsächlich, es funktioniert total zuverlässig. Kurz gesagt: Kohelsäure bleibt da, wo sie hingehört - in der Flasche! :-)

This would probably fit a US soda bottle, but the ones in europe have a shorter thread section and the bottle lid remains attached to the bottle. Even if you remove the lid and use strong scissors to take the plastic ring that holds the lid, it still doesn't make a seal. So we had to return it.
