How do you mount this on a single wood stud? Wood studs are 1.5 inches wide but the product is 4.5 inches wide? Why aren't there two centered holes?

Hello! Thank you for your question. Since this product is not very heavy it can be mounted using drywall anchors (included). If there is a stud available, one of the sides can be screwed into the stud and the other can be screwed into the drywall using anchors.

Can I use this as an intermediary between an existing monitor arm and monitor? The Vesa sizes are compatible and I just want extra height adjustment

How does the monitor come me out of the wall plate once it's set in?

do you mean how can you remove the monitor out of the plate? or how far does it stick out from the wall? if you pull up on the monitor it will pull the center piece out of the backing plate.. if you are asking that.. if you want to know how far it sits off the wall.. that is about 3" from the plate attached to the wall then the mounting area to the back of your monitor.. then the rest will be the actual depth of your monitor added to that... hope this helps
