Can this be used for a cake mix?

Hi Ashlynn,Yes, you can certainly use cake mixes with the molds! Our molds withstand temperatures of up to 450°F, so it's great for baking! Here are some tips based on our experience: Make sure to use lots of cooking spray before pouring in the mixture to help keep the shape intact. When filling in the mold, make sure to fill mixture to about the start of the ears (remember not all the way though, to allow the mixture to grow properly in the oven). It takes about 40 mins to an hour to bake thoroughly (good to test readiness with toothpicks). Lastly, when the cake is baked, make sure to let the cake completely cool off with the mold before taking it out for best results. Hope you found these tips helpful!

The description shows it being given in a gift bag. So does it stay solid like real gummies? Does it melt out of fridge?

I guess it would depend on what you use as a recipe. The mold itself is of good quality. You would make the actual gummy bear using the mold and then put it in one of the gift bags provide in order to give it away as a gift.

Used red jell-o gelatin packs per instructions and poured right into mold. Unmolded it carefully by freeing up the edges manually pulling away from ears to bottom of mold. No problems at all. I didn't use any spray or oil on the mold at any time.
