Will this work on an existing pole with a 1.25 diameter?

This is my opinion. If you can make or find an insert bushing, then you could make it work. The two poles I have measure 1.381 and 1.382, there is a plastic type insert/shim bushing in the clamp and is almost closed where the screw/bolt tighten the ends together. Sorry, am not willing to remove arm to measure clamp diameter with screw/bolt loosened and insert removed.

Will this arm fit a varipole by gravity? cannot find the varipole diameter.

It fits most sizes. If you can get a tape measure around a varipole "pole" and it measures around 4.5 cm outer diameter then yes.
