long, smelly process but it’s worth it!!
I’ve used this twice now and would recommend it. It is a long and smelly process but the results are worth it to me. I have that annoying middle-ground curly hair where I can get it to curl kind of nice with lots of product and plopping but also takes a good amount of flat ironing to get the frizz out if I want to wear it straight. I have DREAMED about being able to just blow dry my hair and have it look decent and this actually gave me that! Here was my process: 1- double shampoo with clarifying shampoo. 2- blow dry hair completely (no products) 3- wearing gloves, I apply the treatment with a brush. I separated my hair into four sections and after all my hair was covered, I combed it through and let it sit for an hour. —- here comes the miserable part—- 4- I used paper towel to try to absorb any excess product, then used my blow dryer brush to blow dry. This takes A LONG TIME. In the summer I do it outside but in winter I set up in front of my patio door with a mirror and a fan blowing straight at me to try to blow the fumes outside. I still wear gloves when I am blow drying. 5- I set my flat iron at 430 and in small sections make SEVERAL passes over each section (maybe 8-10 times each section). The fumes are the worst during this part. Once I’m done flat ironing, I collapse in exhaustion. Just kidding, but seriously you have to be committed to this and set aside 3-5 hours. Apparently you can wash your hair right away again after flat ironing but I try to wait 48 hours to “lock it in”. Whether it actually makes a difference, I’m not sure, but after putting a whole evening into doing this, I just want to be done. I’ve attached two pictures of the fuzzball that is my hair after blow drying before, another picture after I completed the process, and lastly after the first was with just using a blow dryer - no flat ironing! I will say that I find I have to wash my hair more frequently after doing the treatment because I feel like it gets greasy faster, but the fact that I can take 3 minutes blow drying my hair and it looking like I flat ironed it is incredible to me. I use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to prolonge the results (I like the EverPure line from L’Oréal or the Native brand.) TLDR - mentally prepare yourself for a long, smelly process but it’s worth it!!

GOODBYE FRIZZ, HELLO STRAIGHT HAIR! Purchase NOW!!
First off, all the negative reviews in here which wasn’t a lot made me laugh. From not using gloves, not using heat and her hair staying curly to scalp being on fire to the keratin not lasting. My favorite one was someone complaining about the formaldehyde. This bottle does not say formaldehyde free anywhere on it. This brand I believe has a Formaldehyde free one. Just takes a few seconds to read. If this is your first time ever doing a keratin treatment on yourself, it is important that you read the directions and follow them to a T. (NO EXCEPTIONS). I’ve done keratin on myself before with a different brand I don’t have access too anymore because I need a cosmetology license. I only have a full specialist one. I did like that this was available on Amazon and it’s for professional use and doesn’t require a license to purchase. On to the keratin…. You must have clarifying shampoo. This strips all the oils, minerals and dirt your hair collects over time from all the hair products and even shampoo and conditioner you use. Wash your hair two times. After I washed my hair, because I bleach and dye the front of my hair and I like having that fresh color look, I went ahead and put my dye on my hair. I use pulp riot and artic fox which are both semi permanent. Once my hair color was done sitting, I washed only this section of my hair with cold water while the back continued to air dry. I then towel dried my entire hair. The instructions on the bottle says to section your hair into 4. The only thing I did different because I’m so particular about each strand of my hair was. I decided to put the keratin piece by piece. When applying it you don’t have to worry so much about the fumes. That comes with the heat. I did this is my bathroom which only has that small window to the outside. I opened up the window and had a small desk fan blowing at my face while I put this on. Just so I wouldn’t be breathing anything directly. I used gloves, a fine comb brush and a dye brush. For each small section I grabbed, I made sure I did not get anywhere close to the scalp. You scalp doesn’t need these chemicals on it. Apply the keratin an inch away from the scalp. At least a horizontal finger away from the scalp. I then brushed it with the fine comb to make sure every strand had product. I also wanted to ensure I did not put too much product. After doing my entire head. I sat on the couch to relax for 20 mins to let the keratin sit for a bit on my hair before putting heat over it. Fine/Colored Hair: 20 minutes Medium/Coarse Hair: 35 minutes Virgin/Resistant Hair: 40 minutes My hair is not fine, it’s on the coarse side but since it is colored I did the 20 mins. Headed back to the bathroom. Made sure the window was still open, a big fan on the floor by the door blowing TOWARDS the window and the other small desk fan on the sink. Grabbed the blow dryer and I made sure whatever section I was going to be blow drying, that the heat would be blown the same direction as the fans were blowing which was towards the window outside. This is of course what helped ME not to inhale fumes or my eyes get watery. I didn’t blow dry every section perfectly cause the flat iron is what’s going to give you the straight perfect hair we curly haired girls want. After blow drying I then went to ironing my hair, small section by section. Again making sure the direction of the fan and fumes went with the air. Sometimes I would hold by breath for a few seconds if I was doing the front of my hair. Not because I had too but just to be safer with this product and inhalation. If I ever felt I needed some fresh air, you can stop and step out of the area you’re working in and go take a quick break. I didn’t feel I had too since I had the fans right on my face. If anything I would put my face closer to the fan to get fresh air. Once done keep in mind not to tie your hair or put any clips, etc to it. It will leave those indentations after you wash your hair in 2-4 days, So just don’t! I style my hair by doing side bangs, so that’s how I blow dried and ironed my hair. You should do your hair accordingly. Once done it’s normal to feel your hair a tiny bit…. I don’t wanna say greasy because it’s not greasy but like you have a bit of a shiny product in your head because, well…. You do. The longer your hair the longer this may take. The bottle also brings enough to do several treatments. I should have enough for the next year or year in a half. This is not an exaggeration. This depends on how well you maintain your hair and re do the treatment. You shouldn’t need to redo it for at least 2-5 months. Again depending on your hair type and how you maintain it. If you don’t use sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, this won’t last as long. Same if you wash your hair every single day. If you don’t use sulfate free shampoo I would guess this would last perhaps a month or so depending how much you wash your hair. It’s not like the treatment is going to wash off completely if you don’t use sulfate free on one wash. With this being said read the labels from the shampoo you buy. I have bought sulfate free labeled shampoo that has sulfates in it. Your ingredient list on the bottle is your bff. Check for names like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS), or Ammonium Laureth Sulfate (ALES). If you don't see these, the shampoo is likely sulfate-free. I usually don’t wash my hair for 48-72 hours after the keratin but when you do wash it, you’ll notice your hair dries quickly and looks just as good as day one. No frizz under this Florida heat and humidity. I normally do keratin on my hair every 4-5 months and then I’ll take a break after a while. I have attached pictures of my front colored hair and the back for reference after the keratin and of course my natural curly hair. Definitely would purchase this product again. Don’t let the negative reviews scare you from having great frizz free hair. You have to know what you are doing and again, read Instructions!! Having a fan blowing towards your face is your best friend during this process. No watery eyes or symptoms of burning for me while I did this. ❤️❤️

I have incredibly thick and curly hair prone to frizz, I have tried a few products and this has been by far the most effective. My tips are to ensure the space is extremely well ventilated, because the fumes from this are really strong and the chemicals in the fumes are not good for you. I wore gloves, ear covers, a face mask, a towel covering the back of my neck, and if you have sensitive eyes wear goggles as it does make your eyes run when blow drying/ straightening. You need a clarifying shampoo to use first (skip conditioner), and then work the product through your damp hair in sections, I left it on for an hour for full effect (put hair in a shower cap and chill for an hour, there weren’t any fumes until I had to brow dry so it was okay) and then blow dried on a cool setting (less fumes on a cool setting) before straightening with my GHDs (you need very hot straighteners for this to work). I straightened each section of hair 5 times. The thing I like about this product is that you can wash it straight away after (normally you have to leave it on your hair for 3 days!) so it’s nice to know that you wash all the chemicals out after the treatment is done (use sulfate free shampoo). You can feel the change of the texture of your hair even when wet, and it’s so much quicker and smoother to blow dry. Also the bottle is huge and you only need a small amount per treatment so it’s going to last me ages… This product is the best I have used, however note that it’s not formeldyhyde free (which is probably why it works so well!) so use precautions to be safe with it (use in well ventilated area and avoid contact with your skin.). You do get amazing results with this.
