This is it. I finally found it. I still want to keep looking and find different things to use, BUT.... I found one that beats everything else I have tried. Now the question is, do YOU want the same thing I want? Here is what I want, and I got from this product; if your "want list" matches mine, you WILL NOT be disappointed. 1. water based - I don't want stuff left in my hair after I wash it, and I don't want to buy some super-power shampoo or have to wash it 3 and 4 times. 2. good hold - I spike my hair up and my hair is between one and two inches high depending on how close I am to a haircut. I want some thing to hold it in place WITHOUT making it stiff like a gel or a wax. 3. high shine - I personally love the wet-look high shine finish. 4.easy to work with, pliable - I don't like having to get Suavetico or Layrite, etc... warm in my hands then mash it through my hair and be forced to comb everything through; I like to rub it in my hands, rub it through my hair, style it with my fingers, rinse my hands off, then go about my life. 5. scent that doesn't clash with my fragrances - this has a fresh "barber shop" smell when you open it, that disappears as you use it! How frickin' awesome is that!?!? So if these qualities ARE what YOU are looking for in a hair product, then look no further (unless you just want to) because this one scores a 5-star in each category. The only downfall is this comes in a 2oz jar as opposed to its competitor's 3-5oz jars. I hope this helps.

Good product, but not worth the 50% increase Paid 24.99CAD last year and now itโs nearly $40

One benefit I didn't notice in the product information, and maybe I missed it, was that it is also a wonderful conditioner. I have only used this product for about a week, but the most noticeable effect it the softness of my hair...and beard. I use this on my beard too, as an afterthought when applying it to my hair. Several months ago, for some very personal reasons, I decided "SCREW IT!" and let my hair and beard grow out once again. In college I had hair to my belt and a Grizzly Adams beard. And then I graduated and needed a job, so I found a barber and worked my way through Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. The next phase of my life was a holding pattern. I don't need to be a millionaire (they're often dicks), and I have enough money to be comfortable, and I am lazy. I started consulting just enough to pay bills and not have to dig into the retirement accounts. As I just mentioned, I am lazy, so this phase lasted awhile. Then this year my world was turned on its ass. Easily the worst year of my life, and that is saying something. After some soul searching I remembered when I was happiest....in college when I had long hair and beard. So I stopped cutting my hair and shaving. To her credit, my Lady didn't say anything for the first two months. Then she mentioned that the beard was scratchy and my hair was unruly. But she thought it was just a phase and would eventually pass. She has NO IDEA how long my phases can be. Eventually she became reluctant to cuddle because of the coarse hair an scratchy beard. Another example of how bad a year this is. A couple of weeks ago I determined that my hair was finally long enough to work with, and started looking looking for products. Not wanting a Mohawk or a helmet, I choose Smooth Viking Pomade mainly because of the reviews and product information. Right off the bat I was pleased with how my hair looked and that it was doing exactly what I wanted it to do. (Full disclosure: At my age, having a full head of hair gives me bragging rights. Hell, having a head of hair, a set of teeth and a steady income makes me a endangered species.) Being able to style it gets me no additional points from my contemporaries as far as I can tell. This past weekend, my Lady commented on the new style and how soft both my hair and beard are. Then she proclaimed that I am once again cuddly... Which is good.

I recently cut my hair and got it done in a pretty short undercut style. I have thick curly hair and kept a little length on top for styling back in a nice slicked look. This is my first experience with a pomade, and honestly, I like it pretty well. It doesn't hold ALL day, but it has kept my hair looking nice even when it begins to fall out. The majority of the day my hair does remain held in place, no matter the weather or activity I am doing. I also only use the amount that can fit on the end of my index finger, so I believe I use it pretty lightly compared to the standard. It is also a little annoying to wash out of my hair. Overall I like it, and will most likely buy it again whenever I need more pomade.

Recently having upped my haircut game from my standby fade to a legit mix of an undercut, fade and an asymmetrical I needed to ditch the switch between leave in conditioner and glue as products: one for a reserved work look and the other for the spiked up faux-hawkish look. Being trendier has meant running an actual comb through my hair and making my undercut do it's thing - this feat was a losing battle with glue. Having used several pomades in the past I knew them to be smelly, sometimes flaky, and kinda finicky. But knowing how undercuts are generally styled I sought a pomade that really did the trick and held the same versatility I'd get with mixing in a little water with something like glue, only without the really dated chunkiness and clumps. After searching high and low, Smooth Viking has become my new go to. Having "stuck" to the glue routine for a little under 20 years or so, this pomade has landed itself a full time job. Not only does it have the versatility I used to enjoy, but the ability to work quite nicely with a comb is critical to keeping this do fresh. Not only is the product good, I'm digging the company as well - solid messaging to consumers and very keen brand identity. With great products for my beard I'm definitely feeling like a made over man... a smooth one :-)
