Jade Travel Yoga Mat

I wanted something small that I could roll up tightly to take on a trip with me, and this fit the bill perfectly. The amount of grip this mat has makes practicing easy. This is the stickiest mat I've used, compared to my Manduka mat and cork mat (rubber mat with thin layer of cork on top).However, it's a rather high maintenance mat. I read the label that came with the mat, and then I got an email from Jade with more info about the mat. Basically, ANY exposure to sun will damage the natural rubber (drying it out, discoloring it, and leading to faster breakdown of the rubber), which includes practicing outside, leaving it in the backseat of your car, or even near a window in your house.Also, the downfall of the stickiness is that not only do your hands and feet stick to it, but so does everything else--dirt, hair, lint. Since it's not a "closed cell" mat, which is what helps it be super sticky, it is also very absorbent of sweat.SO I have this mat that has a bunch of dirt stuck to it, and has absorbed a bunch of my sweat (and potentially other people's sweat in a hot yoga class), but I'll just wipe it down with my normal mat spray and all will be well, right? Wrong. Jade recommends "just using a damp cloth or for a deep clean use a 4:1 water/white vinegar mixture or some mild dishwashing soap" (quote from their email), and then hanging it to dry, out of the sun of course. AND they don't recommend using any essential oils on it because it is YET ANOTHER thing that could cause the mat to deteriorate.I'm not a high maintenance person, and owning high maintenance things is just not my style. My Manduka mat (although not even half as sticky) has survived over a year of hard work and still looks brand new. The Jade mat, while the stickiest mat I've ever used, is practically begging to fall apart.Overall, I just don't know about this mat. The Jade mat is described as natural and sustainable, but I'm not sure I can trade off durability for extra grip. I like it, but I don't think I'm a Jade convert yet.

I couldn't do a handstand before I bought this mat. After I bought this mat I still can't.

My usual mat is the Jade Harmony mat but its pretty heavy to cart around. I've purchased several other travel yoga mats and they always suck after using my Jade Harmony - there's just no stick and I spend the class trying not to slip out of every down dog. I finally broke down and bought this Jade Travel mat for my birthday and I'm kicking myself for not getting it sooner. It's as nice as an every day mat. It's just as good as my Harmony mat but lighter so easier to carry around. And no slipping, no matter how sweaty I get! This is worth the money.

I really did a lot of research before making this purchase. I have a mat that I use just about every day but needed to take my mat with me on a plane. I had my doubts as to whetyher my everyday mat was going to fit in a bag that would fit in the overhead. To play it safe I bought this mat and tried it for the first time today. It’s supposed to be foldable and I believe it will fold into a rectangle that will fit in my carry on. It had very nice grippy-ness. Not sticky but I felt extremely steady on it. It’s thin so as to take up little space but I had no discomfort while on it. Some folks mentioned a smell and yes it does have an odor but only when you’re face down and even then I didn’t find it offensive. I figure the odor may fade with time anyway. So, I’m looking forward to packing it up, getting on a plane and going to a yoga workshop soon.

This is my first yoga mat and I'll be using this company for any other yoga stuff I need. It's made in America from quickly renewable resources and it's pretty comfy. I was skeptical about how thick it is when getting it but it's perfect for me. I got a form letter from the manufacture about how they stopped using plastic shrink-wrap to be more environmentally friendly and apologized for this increasing the possibility that it would come all dusty. I wrote them back letting them know that I'm fine with that and they should keep on keeping on and to my surprise I got a response from a real person (or a really clever bot... sometimes it's hard to tell the difference anymore). Either way the company seems to be invested in making quality products in the States and maintaining a good relationship with their customers. 10/10 would recommend.

i never review but this mat is worth reviewing.the first time i used a jade mat in another studio, i could not get over it. sure, as the other recomendations suggest, it’s definitely “sticky” (i prefer the term “grippier”) but how do we expect our bodies and hands to stick to the mat with more ease unless the mat is actually stickier?Anyway- This mat is amazing. i just got it but i can tell it’s perfect for me and my sweaty hands.i don’t understand how more people don’t have this problem in yoga but regardless, this mat is the only thing that has helped me with this and my practice has improved dramatically as a result.it’s also super travel friendly (with the suggested strap) and the color is super perfect.i just got it this week so we will see what the life expectancy is but either way, i’m happy. this mat joins me on my retreats, to my meditation, and to my studio.Honestly, considering how much people pay for yoga and yoga gear nowadays, if this mat is considered a luxury, then it’s absolutely a luxury worth having at around $60.00 (which is the cost of two classes at my studio. just sayin’).

I have mixed feelings about this mat. I love the grip of this mat so much that I bought a second one within a week of my first purchase. But the rubber smell is so strong it makes my head hurt. I’ve been airing them out for days but it did not help much. So I’m going to return both. If you don’t mind the smell, this is a wonderful mat, light but strong with the best grip among all my mats. But if you are sensitive to smells, do not buy it.

As I practice yoga regularly I thought I'd upgrade to a more premium yoga mat. After doing some research and seeing the great reviews for this product I was excited to receive my jade yoga mat. I'm trying my hardest to love this product but after using it a few times now I'm a little disappointed. I just feel like my feet and palms get more slippy against the rubber. I don't know if there's something I can do but spending £60 on a more premium mat and then thinking that I prefer my £15 mat is a bit of a let down. It's a shame there's no satisfaction guarantee...

This mat is perfect.The grip is amazing, even if you do a lot of effort is almost impossible to slip on it.The 3mm thickness is comfortable enough to support my body (I weigh 80kg) and the smell of rubber doesn't bother me at all.

This is my second Jade Yoga Mat, the first one I had for 10 years and still use it at home. This travel mat is very light, grip is good, blue colour is also very beautiful. If it is not your first yoga mat I highly recommend to get it. (If it is your first one you might will need a bit thicker mat, Jade Yoga also has them). I love this brand. Price matches the quality.

Got this mat because i was sliding all over the show using other mats and the ones available in my local yoga studio. Have to say this one I don’t budge even during a fast paced Vinyasa Flow class. The only problem is sometimes i’m so stuck I have to physically move feet etc to get into poses. Not an issue for me but can see this being slightly annoying to other people.

recommended to me by my daughter and I just love it. really secure feel as it is nice and sticky. Good product and natural material with very little smell to it. it rolls up very well into a slim tube which fits easily into my mat carry bag.I am extremely happy with my purchase
