How close to ceiling can box get when raised to maximum? How far down from ceiling (in feet) is box when lowered to maximum?

Hi Robert,When fully raised the cargo box will be 6 inches away from the ceiling and can be lowered up to 78 inches.

How long is the crank? I have an 11 foot ceiling. Will I be able to reach the lift with the crank?

The total length of the crank handle is 48 in. Center for the hand holds are at 36 inches and 45 inches. The eyelet center for the gear mechanism is 6 in below the ceiling. So for an 11 foot ceiling the top handle of the crank will be at about 7.5 feet and the lower handle at about 6.75 feet. If your not tall a small step stool would make it work.

Does this have to mount into garage ceiling studs or combo of studs/roof drywall?

Ideally you want to mount to studs. On my setup I have two mounted to studs and the other two mounted using toggle bolts. The supply plugs for drywall mounting but I don't trust them.

How far apart are the mounting locations? I have an open ceiling with exposed rafter beams that I'd like to attach the hoist to.

The mountings are 17.5 inches apart. I also have exposed beams in my garage, so I used 2x4s to make the mountings work.
