Universal 387LM Keyless Entry

My fathers old Craftsman Garage Door Keypad stopped working. I spent countless hours troubleshooting. In the end, I concluded I needed to buy a new keypad. However, my fathers garage door opener was very old. I had to research several hours on the internet to ensure I had the correct replacement model which was compatible as Craftsman discontinued the model and all the parts were also discontinued. I finally found out the exact model through a company in the US which had an extensive database. However, they did not ship to Canada. I was stuck. Then, knowing the model number, I found this particular vendor sold this exact model. I was still skeptical that this model would work. I had 80% confidence that this product would work and 20% felt that I would have to return it. It was worth the risk. Well, the package arrived and I followed the instructions. Set up was a breeze. Within 15 min, it was synced to the opener and was working like a charm! A few things are different which I wish was better. They have a sliding cover which slides up and down to protect the keypad from the weather elements. It is rather stiff and not smooth. I prefer the hinge version like the original. As well, they don't have an ENTER button. But the * button serves as the Enter button. Heck, I can live with these few flaws. I am just glad this unit worked like a charm. I did not have to replace the entire garage door opener! Overall, am very happy with product.

I bought the Liftmaster 387 LM to replace my slightly cheaper but intermittently operable Skylink S89 universal remote keypads. (“Intermittently” is the key word – I don’t want to go out for a walk, and return to find myself locked out!) The Liftmaster keypad, though a few dollars more expensive, appears to be much better made. My GDOs are both 12-DIP switch circa 1995 Genie Promax PMX75 openers. Reading through the reviews, there seemed to be some confusion whether the 387 LM would work in this application. I was happy to find that it works beautifully with these older Genie units. And where it takes needle nose pliers to remove jumper plugs, and a tiny screwdriver to set the frequency for the Skylink remote, I was able to program the 387 LM effortlessly, sitting in the car, by entering the command sequence from the keypad. The old Skylink remote keypad also worked initially but began to fail – particularly as the weather got colder. Hopefully my new Liftmaster 387 LM keypad will be found faithful – and reliable! PIN entry: Terminate PIN with ‘0’ vs. ‘#’ PIN entry feedback: none vs. audible beep Another positive difference with the Liftmaster 387 is that the keypad remains active (and illuminated) for a little over 10 seconds after the door begins to move. During that time, any key can be pressed to reverse door travel – similar to the original Genie keypad behavior.

This item worked great - followed the instructions on how to program for my Stanley garage door opener and it worked first time. Some mentioned the slide up vs flip is a problem. While a bit tight and you can over-open and it comes off, I prefer this to the flip as those tend to break especially in our cold Canadian winters. A little WD-40 helped the tightness and we have no problems using this remote unit. Highly recommended.

This works. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is that it reset itself once so it did not recognize the password I set. I can’t figure out why that might have happended but I did reconfiguration again it works fine now. Oh and the plastic cover can be too rigid to open. You really need to slide hard to open it.

Initially worked okay (Craftsman, orange learn button), but after 2 months it stopped working. I reset the keypad, it worked for a few weeks and stopped again. Reset again, worked for a few weeks, same thing. At this point, have to say it's junk. Very disappointed.
