Better Than XM5
**Disclaimer: I bought mine used like new through Amazon I originally purchased the Sony XM5 because they were soooo highly rated in every article I read. I returned the XM5, got the XM4 and am so much happier. I'll compare the XM4 to the XM5, Apple AirPods Max, and Bose QuietComfort 45 - just to help anyone choosing between them. **Noise Cancellation (4.5/5): the noise cancellation on the XM4 is crazy, almost comparable to the Apple AirPods Max. I gave the XM4 a 4.5 because I still think the Apple AirPods Max have the best noise cancellation, but the Sony XM4 is very close. I also like the fact that you can turn noise cancelling on/off with a button - which is a feature not available with the Bose QuietComfort 45. The noise cancellation is much better than the XM5 and less finicky. An issue with the XM5 is that the noise cancelling would just randomly turn on/off. Like if I paused a video for a little too long, the noise cancellation would just turn off. Overall, I wouldn't say I it blocks out all sound, but it's close. I can hear the sound of people talking and music, but it's quieter and I can't make out the words. I definitely can't have a conversation with them on. Also, the XM4 will pick up on when you're talking to people and turn the noise cancelling off for you - but it does make a little announcement when it does that may be annoying or disruptive. ****Edit Nov. 2025 (re Noise Cancellation): Sooo, when I first wrote the review, I didn't mention there is an app ("Sound Connect") where you pair your XM4 (and XM5) headphones and can adjust some settings. I wrote my review based on how the headphones performed without the app (with their default settings). But, with the app, you can adjust the noise cancellation, ambient sound control, adaptive sound control, noise cancelling optimizer, speak-to-chat, 360 audio, etc. After adjusting the settings on my XM4s, I was able to fix some of the issues I mentioned in my original review - like, I turned off the the adaptive sound control and announcements for noise cancelling. I did use the app with the XM5s but it never fixed a lot of the issues I had. The app is kind of... meh. It's user friendly in the way it looks (like I think everything is pretty easy to find), but it doesn't really explain what anything means/does. Also, sometimes the noise cancelling setting just randomly changes anyways, which is a little annoying (like the app really wants noise cancelling ON, even if you don't). **Sound Quality (4/5): the sound quality is great. Way better than the XM5, not as great as the Apple AirPods Max. I think the Apple headphones are just a little crisper. I think it's cool that you can turn 360 sound on, but tbh I never really use it (XM5 also has this feature). The sound is clear, and I haven't experienced any malfunctions/issues with the noise. When I had the XM5, they would just randomly sound muffled (like I was underwater) and, when that wasn't happening, the sound quality was mediocre. **Comfort (5/5): the XM4s are REALLY comfy. I wear glasses with plastic frames and a lot of headphones just don't work and are really uncomfy. The Apple AirPods Max were really uncomfortable with my glasses. Obviously, an easy solution is to just wear contacts, but I hate wearing my contacts for long periods of time - especially, when I study/do work. The XM5 were also pretty comfortable, but wouldn't stay fixed when I adjusted them - they would slip and I would need to readjust them a lot. The XM4 completely cover my ear and the ear pads are soft. They don't squeeze my head the way other headphones do and they don't hurt any part of my ear. I will say that the headband part that rests on top of my head does kind of hurt my head after wearing them for almost 10 hours. Also, I have TMJ so sometimes wearing the headphones does cause my TMJ to flare up and I'll switch to earbuds. But, I think overall these are the most comfortable headphones I have tried. **Product Quality (3.5/5): let's be honest, they're plastic and they feel plastic. They don't feel like super high quality, but let me tell you that they feel way better quality than the XM5 - those felt like a barbie toy. I think the XM4 are sturdy and pretty durable. The Apple AirPods Max are also plastic, but do feel a little more high quality - but also, nothing spectacular. **Aesthetic (3.5/5): If the aesthetic is important to you, I would say they look fine. They're a little bulky, but not terrible. Not as sleek as some others, but they don't look ridiculous. If you're really against a bulky look, then they may not be a great aesthetic match for you. I was worried they would be really clunky, but after getting them and wearing them for a bit, I really don't think they look bad. **Connectivity (4/5): I only have Apple devices (iPhone, MacBook, etc.) and I think the connectivity is great with these products! When I got the XM5, they had so many connection issues. I wasn't able to connect them to my laptop, they wouldn't stay connected to my devices - it was a mess. I was really worried I would have the same issues with the XM4, but I have had no problems so far. I will say it was a little odd to have have to download the Sony Connect app and manage the headphone through that platform, but it's user friendly and it's kind of nice to have a control for them (it's almost like a remote). **Battery Life (5/5): The battery life is insane. I've had them for 8 days and have not charged them yet - they still have about 40% charge left. They will turn off automatically to save battery life if you don't use them for a certain amount of time, which I personally like. OVERALL (4.5/5): I think the XM4 are great headphones for a better price than the Apple AirPods Max. The Bose are apparently really similar, but I've never personally tried them. The XM4 is MUCH better than the XM5 in terms of quality and price. They're comfy, great noise cancellation and sound quality, and have great battery life. EDIT 11/6/25: I have these headphones over 2 years later and still use them almost everyday. They are still in great condition (almost the same as when I bought them) - they still look, sound, and operate great. I only really use them at work, when I'm doing chores, or going on a walk (not working out or anything) and I store them in their case - but STILL, some headphones die before they even hit a year. The only thing I've noticed is that the part where you can adjust the headband size has gotten a little weaker, but not by much - so I have to readjust them every so often, but this isn't that big of an issue for me.

worth the price, not one bad thing about them.
if you're looking for the best pair of noise cancelling headphones you can find, these are the ones. i am disabled and have sensory issues, so i was looking for a good pair, no matter the price. these headphones have changed my life, as i can now be out longer and am more comfortable in loud places than i was before. the noise cancelling feature is amazing, it specifically cancels out low pitched big noises, like a heater or the hum of a truck. however if you're talking to someone in front of you it just sounds like they're behind glass, but still muffles them. however if you have music playing you can absolutely drown anything out. i live in a loud household with other people and barking dogs, and these headphones are a life saver. while i didn't get them for the audio quality, i was still pleasantly surprised at how good it is. you can customize how you want the music to sound in the app which works pretty well. the bass is surprisingly good and crisp. i have tried the bose quiet comfort ones too, and those have a low pitched hum when the anc is on. these don't. the cabin pressure is good too (the feeling like you need to clear your ears from the anc) compared to others i've tried. the battery life is amazing, i could probably use them for 2 days straight with the nc feature on, and i rarely have to charge them. when i do, they charge quicker than even my phone. the control panel on the side is swipe controlled instead of buttons, i was skeptical at first, but i quickly grew to like it. bluetooth always works for me as they connect to my phone quickly and never cut out. they're a little bigger than i thought they'd be but not by much. i've had them for months now and they are still in brand new condition. they come with a nice sturdy case, and even a headphone adapter incase you want them to be wired. the ear pads are very soft, almost silky. i can wear them for hours before my head and jaw start to hurt and even when they do i just shift the ear pieces slightly and they're good. i got the blue and it's pretty accurate to the picture, they're very pretty. while they are quite pricy, i still think every dollar was worth it. these are my favorite headphones that i cannot live without. this is not sponsored, i just genuinely love these headphones after searching so long for nice noise cancelling ones.

The best noise cancelling money can buy
I recently moved into an apartment in the heart of my city and I love it, but this being the heart *and* the entertainment district, it's...lively. Thumping club music, loud drunk tourists, revving cars, you name it. I'm also down the road from a busy fire station. And across the street there's daily construction on a skyscraper and even though I'm quite high up, well, so is the construction. I can handle city noise, but I also work from home and sometimes I need peace and quiet to focus. As anyone who's worn earplugs knows, you can only wear them so much before your ears physically can't take it anymore. So I went in search of the best noise cancelling headphones I could find and came across these. I didn't even hesitate before throwing down the $350, desperate for relief. I was optimistic but wasn't sure that they would be able to cope with all the loud, abrupt noises of my environment. These headphones have blown my expectations out of the water. I'm writing this review as they're pouring concrete at the construction site (for those who don't know, it sounds like a cannon going off every 30 seconds) and I can't. Hear. Anything. Construction crews hammering away at metal poles? Barely hear it. Sirens on the street below me? Barely hear it. Loud party music? Can't hear it. And that's without playing any music, just having the headphones on in silence. If I play any music at all the environmental noise is 100% gone. In my case I find the noise cancelling power of these headphones easily worth the full MSRP. But the rest of the features are fantastic too. The sound quality is solid; I'm not an audiophile though and don't have much to compare it too so I won't comment any more on that. The battery life is phenomenal. I use these for hours every day and have to charge them maybe once a week, and they charge very fast. They're very comfortable to wear and can easily stay on for hours. The smartphone app that controls these headphones (which you'll need, I'll get to that in a minute) lets you select from a number of profiles, including custom ones, which make these great for listening to different genres. The app also lets you control the aggressiveness of the active noise cancellation; I usually leave it on max (for obvious reasons) but when it's quieter I like to let in more ambient noise. The headphones also let you pair to two different devices simultaneously which is extremely useful while working. I have these paired to my work computer and phone, so I can listen to music and take calls on my phone, while also being able to hop onto calls at work the very next second. Incredibly convenient. Also convenient is the long range on these headphones; I can leave my computer and phone on one end of my 1000+ sqft apartment and walk to the other and still be connected. Another convenience is that you don't have to pause music when you need to take these off. Just take them off and they pause whatever you're listening to. Put them back on and it starts right back off from where you stopped. That said, this can be annoying when I just need to itch my ear and the pause kicks in, causing my work computer to open up its music app. Worth it though. A couple of other small negatives are that the built in touch controls on the headphone are awful and unintuitive, so as I mentioned above you absolutely need the smartphone app. And having these on, even if I'm not playing anything, drains my phone's battery much faster than normal (though this may be an issue with all bluetooth devices). These issues are too minor for me to detract a star though. So, to sum it up, if you're looking for a great pair of headphones, these are it. If you're looking for the best pair of noise cancelling headphones money can buy, these are it.

1yr Review of almost daily use.
I've had these earphones for a year now and I feel like they are the best noise cancelling headphones I have ever owned. My previous ones were an older model Bose and then a comparable Sennheiser. My job requires that I do inspections in various industrial facilites. The ambient noise levels I deal with vary between 78-82db. My initial work is about five hours in an office, but the decibel level is still around 70dB. At that level, the Sony WH-1000XM4 remove about 95% of the ambient noise. Music, computer videos and telephone conversations are excellent. These headphones are very good at that level. I next spend up to four hours inspecting out on the equipment floor. The noise level, while not painfully loud at that volume, can cause short term hearing damage in short sessions, but 5hrs/day on a regular basis can permenantly affect your hearing. To give you a reference point, you would have to shout at someone standing about 3ft away for them to understand you. So it's not jet engine loud, but it's uncomfortable and in addition to hearing damage, long term exposure can raise your blood pressure and cause other negative effects on your physical and mental health. And yet, the level at which OSHA requires hearing protection is 85dB. All this is to say that I take sound cancellation seriously, and I also take my music seriously too. These earphones are great on both fronts. I'm very comfortable at work and I can listen to my playlists and don't feel as if I have to turn up the volume to drown out the noise of the machinery. It's really pretty cool. My total shift is about ten hours, and I feel no discomfort wearing these over my ears. I'm also bald, and there is plenty of padding on the band where it contacts the top of my head. I'm very happy with these, and even though I've spent more for earphones, I've never had a better pair for my needs. The only downside is that they are not great when using them to make phone calls in the loud enviroment. I honestly didn't expect them to function great in that respect, but it would have been great if they did. I use them continuously throughout my shift. They tether to my computer for video conferencing, and for watching videos. They work with my phone for calls in the office, and for music out on the inspeciton floor. Honestly, I did not expect them to be so versatile and so useful. The Sony app has numerous ways to customize your experience. More than I actually use. The adaptive sound kept changing the noise cancellation as I moved, so I turned it off. The Speak to Chat feature could be handy, but if you use it, don't sing along with your music or it will switch off the cancellation. So I turned that feature off also. They charge quickly and hold a charge for a good 20hrs of use. I usually recharge them every other day. While not particularly light, they are comfortable and fit me really well. No pressure on my ears. I really don't notice them once they've been on for a few minute. I've added photos to show the condition of the ear pads headpiece after a year of wear. They look great, although I admit I do take care of them. PROS: Very comfortable to wear for long hours at a time. Excellent sound cancellation. Love that they pause the playback when you remove the headphones. Great that just holding a hand over the right ear cup will turn off cancellation so you can have a conversation without removing your earphones. Very good music reproduction. Bass is not quite true, but if it was really pronounced, I could adjust the equalizer. The app is very good and has a lot of features, I was pleasantly surprised even though I don't need or use many of them. It's very helpful. Love the ability to stay connected to two devices at the same time. My phone and my computer work well with the earphones. Sensitive enough that I can change tracks and volume wearing leather gloves. Cons: Sometimes I wish they were a little more snug (maybe I have a small head?) The app is almost TOO helpful. It can take some trial and error to get everything set up as you like it. Overall, these are a total win, and a bargain at the price. You could probably get something just a shade better, but it would be at a significantly higher price. These are perfect for me and my situation. I would defintely buy them again.

Sony WH-1000XM4 vs. Bose 700 vs. Jabra Evolve2 65, mostly for Zoom meetings
I was looking for headphones for work and personal usage. I did a lot of research and it was clear that there was no one model that was best at everything. So, I prioritized what I was looking for (in rough order): 1) physical comfort (nothing else really matters if they're painful to wear) 2) blocking out outside noise (household noise, cars passing by, leaf blowers, etc.) 3) technical ease (i.e., easily connecting to both my phone and laptop) 4) microphone quality (for phone calls and Zoom) 5) sound quality for music (I tested with EDM and IDM music) 6) cost (I was willing to pay more for quality as long as it wasn't outrageous) 7) battery life (not really important to me as long as it gets through the workday) After a lot of reading, I narrowed it down to five: Bose 700 Sony WH-1000XM4 Jabra Evolve2 65 Jabra 85H Jabra Evolve 75 And I ultimately ordered the top 3. Here's my review: Sony WH-1000XM4: - This was the clear winner for me: most comfortable, best at blocking out outside noise, excellent music quality, and easy to use - I appreciate how it automatically adjusts the noise canceling settings based on activity (sitting still, walking, etc.), and I had no trouble connecting it to my phone and computer at the same time - The biggest downside (other than the high price) is that it was definitely the worst microphone of the three. People on the other end were able to understand me, but when I listened to recordings it definitely sounded more muffled and less clear than with the other two headphones though its microphone quality isn't great - It's probably also worth mentioning that my brother tried these on and he found them uncomfortable because he has large ears, whereas the Bose 700 felt fine for him Bose 700: - This was a close runner-up: good at blocking outside noise, comfortable enough (but I felt it squeezing my head more than the Sony), and good music quality (I even preferred it to the Sony for some songs, though in general I felt like the instruments were somehow a bit further away or flat compared to the Sony) - It gave me just a little trouble to connect to phone and computer at once but it was fine once I got it set up the first time - The microphone was noticeably better than the Sony's but still not great Jabra Evolve2 65: - Surprisingly good music quality given its purpose as more of an office headset; but, given its protruding microphone arm, I was expecting significantly better mic quality than the other two when in fact I only found it to be a little better than the Bose - Fairly comfortable, but I preferred the way that the other two completely enclosed my ears rather than just squeezing against them as the Jabra did - Setup was easy and I appreciated the USB dongle to wirelessly connect it without fiddling with Bluetooth SOME TAKEAWAYS: - Ultimately, I learned that all of these have pretty bad microphones, so you'll need to get a dedicated microphone if you really care about recording sound quality - This is of course personal preference, but I still find my Jabra Elite Sport earbuds from 2018 to be more comfortable than all of these, and they surprisingly had just as good or better microphone quality than all of these fancier larger headphones. I'm able to wear the Sony or the Bose headphones for a few hours, but my ears still feel a bit tender when I take them off - I was quite surprised that the active noise canceling was fine for me on both the Bose and the Sony. I had tried a previous Bose model years ago and experienced a lot of painful pressure on my ears, so I was quite happy to discover that I rarely experienced that here. I'm not sure if the tech has just gotten better or if I've acclimated somehow, but consider giving the Bose or Sony a try even if you've had trouble with this in the past DECISION: I ended up choosing the Sony WH-1000XM4, which are in most ways the best headphones I've ever used (with important caveats below). When I started my search, my top priority was how well they worked for Zoom calls. Music quality was a secondary concern. But after spending weeks with these headphones, I'm pretty blown away by how my music sounds, like new dimensions have been opened up. I recommend them, along with the Wavelet smartphone app for AutoEq equalization tuned to these headphones specifically. However, there are two glaring flaws you should know about: 1) The microphone quality really isn't great. When I'm in Zoom meetings, I set it to use my laptop's built-in microphone instead since it sounds better. 2) It does pair well with my laptop and smartphone at once. But, there are some quirks that are extremely annoying. Whenever one of the two disconnects, a voice loudly announces, "Bluetooth device disconnected." So, say I'm listening to music on my phone or on a phone call—if my laptop falls asleep or I turn it off, my music or call will be interrupted with that useless announcement. Even worse, whenever you answer a phone call, it disconnects momentarily from the computer, so as soon as your phone call begins it makes that loud announcement and you miss the first few seconds of your call. Yes, you heard that right: If your laptop is on and the headphones are connected to it and your smartphone (which is supposed to be one of the best features), then every time you answer the phone the first few seconds of the call will be interrupted. So that's why it loses one star. But truly, the music quality and noise-canceling are so great that I really like them anyway and am willing to work around this limitation. I sure wish Sony would release a firmware update though allowing us to disable that voice completely!

Truly a Worthy Successor to the WH1000xm3!
Honestly, there was a part of me that was worried that these headphones would not be the best pair to own after the issues that I experienced with the prior generation of them: the WH1000xm3. The main issue that I had? The build quality: the plastic around the headband snapped due to a flimsy connection, resulting in me having to tape both headbands together so that the headphones don't fall apart on me. I tried several alternate brands to see if they would work, but they never came close to giving me the same level of satisfaction while wearing them as the WH1000xm3 did, even with the taped headband taken into account. So I decided that the best replacement for a Sony headphone was another Sony headphone, and I invested in the M4, which succeeded the M3 last year (as of this writing). My initial thoughts were as follows: the headphones were a definite improvement upon the originals, retaining what I liked most about the original headphones (largely the overall comfort) while also improving the headphones in other small ways (especially in regards to the special features-the M4 are way more feature-packed than the M3 were, incorporating many elements that are being found on most other headphones these days). My favorite thing that was fixed, however, was the sound quality. You see, the original sounded amazing, and honestly sounded better overall than the likes of Bose and Sennheiser, which I have tested as potential replacements for the Sony headphones. And that is despite the fact that the headphones have a relatively small 40mm driver inside, instead of a more traditional 50mm driver. However, the one minor issue I had with the M3 was that the low frequencies were heightened a bit more than I would have liked, making songs sound a bit bass-heavy even when the EQ was turned off (the only way I was able to fix this was by setting the EQ to 'bright', which isn't ideal since the EQ does degrade the battery life). With the M4, Sony improves this by tuning down the low ends, resulting in the headphones having a very flat frequency response, which in turn results in every song having a much wider sound stage than the M3 did (and almost making them sound as good as the various open-back headphones I have tried, including the Sennheiser 650, which is my personal favorite open-back headphone). In terms of the special features, I think they were implemented quite well in these headphones. The noise cancelling is exceptional, much like it was on the M3, and the transparency mode is somehow even better than it was on the prior generation headphone, sounding a lot more natural and less tinny overall. The auto activation of transparency mode during conversations is fantastic, and enables me to talk to people naturally without ever having to remove the headphones from my ear. This also means that I don't have to awkwardly tap my hand on the earcup with the M4, either. The DSEE Extreme audio enhancer really helps to make music sound a lot more full, even when using devices that don't support the LDAC wireless standard. It isn't as good as listening to lossless files wired, mind you, but it is still an amazing feature that helps to take advantage of the flat sound stage and frequency response of the headphone drivers. Now, this isn't to say that these headphones don't have issues, mind you. The auto-pause when removing the headphones from your ears is very much a gimmick, and doesn't always pause the song (and may even resume the music before you have a chance to place the headphones back on your ear). Since the headphones use a light sensor to tell if you are wearing your headphones or not, it means even a simple shadow can cause the headphones to think that they are back on your ears and restart music playback. It is quite obnoxious, and it is best left out. Another, more minor issue is the touch controls. While I personally have no issue with them, I know that there are many people that don't like them whatsoever. So I will just make a note that they are still here, and they work in much the same way as they did on the M3. Finally, I should mention that the flat soundstage, while amazing for my listening experience, may not be for everyone. Bassheads in particular would likely prefer extra pronunciation on the lower ranges. And while they will never be quite as bass-heavy as the Skullcandy or Beats line, the EQ can still bring the bass levels up quite a bit, using a 'clear bass' slider that reminds me of the slider on the Skullcandy Skullcrushers: raising the bass without causing distortion. Overall, the headphones turned out to be quite an exceptional pair, especially when it comes to listening to music during commutes. The great noise cancelling, beautiful audio, and fantastic transparency mode definitely make these headphones a winner in my book. And the app only helps to improve the flexibility of the headphones, allowing for many different features to be unlocked. And while these headphones certainly have some issues (no pair of headphones are perfect, after all), I think the benefits more than outweigh the issues for me, and put these at the top of my list of best closed-back headphones that I have worn. Hopefully Sony will continue to make amazing headphones like these in the ears to come.

Great for the casual user
I purchased these recently while they were on sale intending to use them while I work from home and listen to music, podcasts, or take a work call. They can dually connect to both my computer and phone as I often switch between the two as I'm working. But the switch is not as great or seamless as it could be, sometimes it struggles, causing me to miss something being said at the beginning of the meeting when crossing over from one Bluetooth connection to the other. Pausing whatever device is actively playing media, then switching starting a call, or playing a video on that second device is a lot more seamless this way. Upon first use I was actually surprised by how light the headphones were and how comfortable the padding on these were, but I will say after wearing them for nearly 8 hours, I did notice a little bit of soreness around the tops of my ears but it's nothing compared to what ear buds feel like and what other headphones feel like only 2-3 hours. I cannot really speak on the audio quality as I'm not necessarily a huge expert in that area and I'm largely deaf in one of my ears so half of this pair of headphones is pretty much usless to me... none the less, it sounds great to me, great clear, crisp audio. And I will make note that coworkers that I had to speak on the phone with many times previously and always struggled to understand, regardless of if I have the call on private mode and turned all the way up, speakerphone, or earbuds. But with taking phone calls with these headphones I do not notice this same issue. To mention being largely deaf in one of my ears, these headphones do have a noise canceling features, and although I don't need too much help in the noise canceling area... I can attest that I feel almost completely deaf with these headphones on. Even with other noise canceling headphones, I can hear myself typing on my keyboard, or the sound of resonance of my feet hitting the ground while walking with headphones on, but I do not experience those things with these headphones at all. And so far from about a week and a half of use, the battery life has been great so far, and I am seeming to get about a day and a half (~12 to 14 hours give or take) of battery life from one charge before I get the battery low message, that is when decide to charge mine, but I'm sure you'd still have a good amount of charge left. Also, the case that these headphones come in, and are stored in, is so amazing and such good quality. I always return them to their case after I'm done using them for the day, as the case is strong is really helps keep your headphones safe and protected. I have a habit of throwing my headphones into a bag if I feel like I may want them, but in that bag is also so many other things, and I never worry about my headphones because of how sturdy and strong the case for these are.

What's a more wow word than wow?
So, first things first, I received these approximately 48 hours after purchasing a recent pair of Beats by Kim (Pro, Moon) headphones. An hour and a half after breaking them in.....yea, these are, how folks say, THE BEES KNEES! I don't know where to begin so please bear with me if I seem scattered with my findings but there are so many pros that it kinda became hard to keep track. One of the biggest pros is the fact that shortly after I used them, they made it an obvious decision to move off of my VERY RECENTLY PURCHASED BEATS STUDIO PRO! A $350 pair of headphones, mind you. Sorry, a falsely priced $350 pair of headphones. Out the box, you feel nothing but premium. The material on the site states that it's plastic but it feels like a very soft, shallow leather. Regardless, it feels great to the touch. It comes with the carrying case, a plug that seems to be used on airplanes, a 3.5 mm 2 way headphone cord and a usb a to usb c cable. Simple packaging. Now, on to the listening experience which is just that. A true experience! The noise canceling is the closest that I could possibly get to space! When you have it turned on, you literally feel the noise cancelation in your head. It's what I would imagine being in the vacuum of space would feel like. I know it sounds like I'm exaggerating but I assure you, I am praising these as if they were my own creation that I am promoting! There is also the ambient noise mode that is too smart for my intellect to grasp. It allows sound in while keeping the crazy noises out by using mics around the headphones. Then there is the feel of the ear cups. Again, premium! They don't sit on your ears, they cover them, keeping all sound out. The seal they create is pure listening bliss. They also pair well with the app for the headphones which push the functions of the headphones adjusting the intake of ambient noise based on your activity, sitting, walking, running and commute (train ride, bus ride, etc.). Overall, in my personal opinion, from someone who has within the last 48 hours used both the 2024 Beats Studio Pro and the 2020 Sony WH-1000XM4, Beats are a waste of time product from a company who clearly didn't use any time to update their product externally or internally! The Sony headphones offer premium quality sound, feel, functions and comfort. The price is high, but you see, feel and use every bit of your moneys worth.

Great pair of headphones money can buy
I have gone through a lot of reviews on various platforms before buying this product, but at some few places i observed people mentioning about the headphones causing them 'tinnitus', but as far as i am concerned i havent observed the same in my 10 days of usage so far. I am dividing my review into the below categories followed by pros/cons. 1. Design and build quality: The design on these is a decent one, the build is definitely plastic, but dont get me wrong, they definitely feel premium, and even though thet used plastic on these, but its definitely good quality. 2. Comfort: This is by far one of the most comfortable piece of headphones i have used so far, i mean literally wear them for 3-4 hours and you wont feel that you have it on ur head on those times. Although i havent stretched by wearing them for longer periods than that, but i am pretty confident, anyone will hardly have to worry on that aspect. 3. Battery: I have found the battery life to be okay on these, they advertise a 30 hr backup but i think u can easily get 20+ hours on these, so yeah this department is fine as well but in current market i have seen different vendors like Marshall doing a phenomenal job with the battery by providing close to 80hrs in their 'Major 4' model of headphones, so yeah if you are some one for whom battery life is of utmost importance, i would suggest you to get something similar to the Marshall Major 4s. 4. Sound-Quality: The sound quality is amazing on these, and why not, these are Sony's, we can expect the same from them, the low are detailed, mids are well tuned, highs are balanced, the bass is good enough, but this is subjective, i mean these are not heavy bass set of pairs, for heavy bass you may look for something like the XB series of the Sony's. But talking about the overall quality i am compelled to say that these are definitely a bang for your buck. 5. Noice-Cancellation: I kept this topic for the last but i dont think i need to talk much on these as these definitely nail it, these are the king of ANC as i have already heard earlier at many places. they also give u the option to customize the level of noise cancellation. As per me they are only 2nd to noice cancellation after the Apple airpods max, but given the price point they completely justify what they are offering. Regarding call quality, i didnt get much time to check the call quality except a couple of occurences but found them to be decent. However if you are specifically looking forward to call quality, the bose 700s can be a better option for you. Pros: 1. Great amount of customization provided by the sony app. 2. Timely firmware updates for the headphones. 3. Good enough carrying case of the headphones. 4. Less weight as compared to other premium offerings in this segment. 5. Decent battery life. 6. Mesmerizing sound. Cons: 1. Lack of aptx/aptx-hd codec: At this price point atleast they should offer aptx codec. 2. Lack of water/splash resistance: Given the premium segment, they should atleast offer splash rating to these. 3. At this premium price point they should atleast offer a couple of years of warranty like the Skullcandy's 4. Less number of support centers for these. 5. Lack of detachable earcups. Verdict: If you are ready to shell out this premium, then these headphones are definitely a good choice for you if you are looking for an allrounder.

Amazing Noise Cancellation & Great out of the box sound.
Sound Quality (5/5) These are the first headphones I've owned that when first listening to them I didn't immediately flinch and look for the nearest EQ. I'm no sound engineer, but definitely it has great bass and great quality for mids & highs. Noise cancelation (5/5) Although this is my first set of headphones that support this feature. I'm really blown away by it. I have an air purifier in my office, and even at medium setting. The fan is pretty noisy. But with these things on, I can barely hear it, and that's with no music/movie playing. But as soon as I turn on a movie or song, I seriously can't tell it's on. I read some people say they could hear a waterfall or something in the background. I can't hear anything other than silence, or what I'm listening to. Wireless/Wired (4/5) Being able to use the headphones with them powereoff with a wire, or have them connect wireless via bluetooth is an amazing feature. And it works really well! I was really surprised however that I don't seem to be able to use this headset with the bluetooth of my main PC. It has a really think glass panel, so I'm wondering if it's not because of that. If you own a case with a glass panel, maybe double check with another set of bluetooth headse/earbuds to see how the conenction goes. Audio Delay/lag on Bluetooth (5/5) I own a mini laptop and it only has bluetooth 4.1. But for some reason when I watch videos or movies, I'm virtually unable to tell whether there is lag. Unlike any other bluetooth earbuds I've owned. The delay is amazing. Obviously your mileage may vary, but it's something that drove me insane with my previous wireless earbuds. Don't have this problem here! Gestures (4/5) I wasn't really looking forward to the gestures pad. But it turns out to be working really well. Once in a while an action won't register. But it's really rare for me. Play/Pause on a PC can be a little weird though. One day I was listening to spotify while working, and then with the tab still opened I started watching youtube after work. And after pausing said video and unpausing it, using the headset. It ended up starting the playback of both my spotify tab, and my youtube tab. Comfort (4/5) First day I wore them I was a little concerned since, even though I have a small head. I felt like the headphones were pretty tight on my head. But after even just 2 days of use. It's already leagues better. Either I got used to it, or it's 'breaking in'. The cups are pretty comfortable. Wish they would be just a tad larger, not sure if I have big ears. But I can tell that part of my right ear touches the pad. And I'm wondering if I ever end up pulling a really long work, or gaming session if it'll end making my ear feel pinched. One of my older headsets did that. One thing that I was happily surprised was the weight of the headset. With such an impressive battery life and suite of features. I was expecting this thing to be rather heavy. Compared to a Corsair Void (probably a bad example) it's light as a feather. Pairing Headphones with 2 Devices (3/5) First thing, this feature is only possible via the headphone's native app. Meaning you can't perform this type of sync with the physical sync button. Once you have the devices regisered on the app, then you can enable a setting and select which 2 devices you want. On the topic of "2 devices", I guess Is should have read more on this feature. But I use 2 PCs at home, a media and a work/gaming PC. And I really would have liked to be able to on the fly, switch between audio of both. But it turns out that you can only connect to 1 phone, and something else. It can be 2 phones, but not 2 PCs. Included Accessories (3/5) The case it comes with is great. Hard-shell clam design, with some neat nook where you can shove the USB C charging cable, audio cable and airplane adapter thing. But as much as I like the quality and how it snuggly holds on to and protects the headphones. Not sure if mine is a fluike, but whoever decided to sew the elastic mesh bag on the 'bottom' part of the clam. Kind of silly. The audio cable is 'OK' if you use it for your phone. But if you want to use it for a PC you'll for sure either need an extension or a longer cable period. But at least it's a usesable lenght albeit a little conservative. But the USB type c charging cable. I hope you have a USB hub available. Depending on the case/setup you have. I'm pretty sure a lot of people wouldn't be able to use that cable to connect the headphones to their PC's back USB ports. Well you could do it, but depending on your case or setup. The headphones won't be able to rest on either the top of your case, or the desk/floor it's own. They'll end up dangling. (Which I think would be a bad idea.)
