03-08 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 Steering Linkage Upgrade Fixes-Death Wobble Oem Mopar

This is a very good replacement/upgrade package from the older pre 2008 dodge rams. I installed with ease (mostly) to upgrade my 2007 Ram 2500 to help stop the dreaded death wobble. So far I’ve spent over $2k trying to solve my death wobble. Unfortunately death wobble that can be caused by a number of issues/parts/components. It’s nearly impossible to determine exactly what causes the problem. I replaced the factory trac bar with a Thuren and had my ball joints replaced. This part is pretty much a drop in fit. You’ll need to replace the pitman arm and get a new steering stabilizer. Both are linked to this product through Amazon. Removing the pitman arm became my nemesis. Without the pitman arm the install would have been less than an hour. The pitman arm took me 7 hours to remove. I ended up using a cordless angle grinder to carefully cut and pound it off. There are a couple of good youtube videos of how to do that and there’s a great install video showing how to install these parts. Overall happy with this product and it did help remove my death wobble and it also helped make the steering way more responsive. However, I still have something causing a clunking noise in my front end. I was hoping it was worn out tie-rod ends from the old parts but apparently not so I’m still chasing my tail. This part is also stupidly easy to adjust to set alignment. I took mine in for an alignment after install and the tech said it was set perfect.

Does not FIX death wobble but it DOES contribute to the overall fix - PLEASE READ IN DETAIL I purchased a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9l (H.O.) in October of 2012. The vehicle had a 6" Superlift system with Superlift shocks paired with a Rancho dual steering stabilizer on the original 03-08 (Y) steering linkage. It was running on 35/12.5/17 Toyo tires, but otherwise everything about the suspension and steering was bone stock. Having already owned this exact same truck and given it to my dad, I knew what to expect when purchasing a replacement. Diesels are not renowned for their ride quality, road comfort, or pristine steering (especially the Chrysler systems). This truck had all of the right sounds, power, and features.....but the ride was almost unbearable. Every pothole, crack, crease, tar strip, rock, and slightest imperfection resounded throughout the truck. While cruising at highway speeds, keeping it straight on the road was a constant chore. After driving for 3 hours, I'd literally be exhausted from the constant wrestling with the steering wheel. The worst part, however, was the death wobble when I'd hit a bridge expander strip or a pavement change. Turning was also about as accute as a bowl of gravy....there were times a slight turn in the wheel would get me around the corner and other times required the intervention of Jesus Christ himself to get the steering wheel to turn and have the tires follow. I bought this 03-08 (T) style linkage upgrade to HELP resolve all of the issues listed above. I also purchased a Hell Bent Steel steering stabilizer (goes between the sway bar and frame...braces an extension bolted onto the bottom of the pitman arm) and installed it initially. I noticed a slight difference in the steering...it felt firmer, more precise, and it didn't feel like I was going to rip out my steering box. I also bought a new set of 4 Goodyear Duratrac 35-inch equivalent tires (315/75/17 if I remember correctly) and the ride quality was slightly improved. I later purchased a Top Gun Customz dual steering stabilizer kit (5100 Bilstein stabilizers) and new polymer bushings for the control arms of the Superlift kit. Lacking the facilities and know-how to do ALL of this work and the inherent risk of driving a pickup having these upgrades without a proper alignment, I took the pickup to 4-Wheel Parts to have the control arm bushings, TGC steering stabilizer, and 03-08 steering linkage installed along with a proper alignment. $1,000 and a total of 8 months later, I drove a different pickup out of the 4 Wheel Parts parking lot. I am not going to over-exaggerate here, I was literally smiling the biggest smile I've ever smiled that entire drive home. It was a moment of emotion I will never forget, to drive a lifted diesel truck that handles better than any pickup I'd ever driven. I drove over railroad crossings, dips, pits, potholes, creases, pavement changes and did not feel ONE thing. The best part of all, absolutely ZERO death wobble.....done, dead, completely eliminated in every sense of the word. This linkage, along with the other essentials for my pickup's configuration, was the best investment I have ever made in my vehicle for both safety and ride quality. If you have an 03-08 Ram and are experiencing these issues, I implore you to find the means to invest in these upgrades as they will elongate your vehicle's service life, improve your driving, and keep you safer on the road. You simply cannot pass this up. I am, in every way of the word, completely and utterly thankful to Amazon for offering this part at half the MSRP at the local Dodge dealership. I was able to afford more upgrades and get the same quality part from a direct vendor. This is the best purchase I have ever made, PERIOD.

I ordered this kit to replace the "Y" steering setup on my 2005 Dodge 2500. It arrived on time and was packaged securely. The linkage overall is very beefy and is quite an upgrade from the original. It installed and aligned without a hitch. My only complaint is it not coming with locknuts for the tierod ends. The original nuts are the right thread pitch but since the new tierod ends are not drilled for a cotter pin, I would rather use a nylon locknut instead of a castle nut. I installed this setup because my original tierod ends were worn out and giving play in the steering, not because of death wobble. The steering tightened up substantially. I would recommend this product.

My "death wobble" problem is gone!!! This linkage is built much more heavy duty than the stock linkage, to prevent flexing, and the tie rod connects both front wheels together directly, instead of the rinky-dink OEM "Y" type linkage that comes stock on trucks of these model years and allows the front wheels to flop around independently. I'm knocking it one star because there are no grease zirks on the tie-rod ends or the connection of the drag link to the Pitman arm, for periodic lubrication. Dodge has assured that people will need to replace the unlubricated tie rod ends every couple of years. I should knock it another star or two because Dodge obviously is aware of the problems with the original "Y" linkage for '03-'08 trucks, and the reasons for "death wobble", because they are selling an "upgrade" to fix it, yet they are unwilling to issue a recall and pay for installation of the upgraded linkage on the affected vehicles. Cheesy, Chrysler! I also installed a steering gearbox brace kit, to relieve lateral stress on the under-sized steering gearbox that came equipped on these same models of truck, and would highly recommend that people install that at the same time as the linkage, to prevent failure of the bottom seal of the steering gearbox. I installed the steering gearbox brace kit from Synergy Manufacturing (Part No. 8558-04) on my '05 Ram 3500, which has the original small steering gearbox, with 4 bolts on top, not the larger "upgrade" gearbox with the six bolts on top. The brace kit was a perfect fit and should extend the life of my steering gearbox indefinitely. I also replaced the skimpy little OEM stabilizer bar ends (which actually snapped when I tried to remove them) with heavy duty ones from BD Diesel. After making these upgrades, there has been a HUGE improvement in handling and steering response. No more steering wander. No "bump steer." And NO MORE DEATH WOBBLE!!! This whole experience has really shaken my confidence in Chrysler though, and leaves me wondering how many other places they skimped on quality parts and planned in obsolescence in order to siphon money out of my checking account.

Like other reviewers have said, this one component helps but in order to get rid of the death wobble you really need to replace all worn components. You also need the updated pitman arm that is linked to this in the description as the angle of this linkage is slightly different. I ended up replacing the ball joints, sway bar end links, sway bar bushings, and steering damper with a new Bilstein 5100. When I went in to have the alignment done, I had the tech tighten up the gearbox a quarter turn. Death wobble is completely gone! I can now cruise down the interstate going 85-90 if I want, and no bumps cause any problems. There is slight wander, so next on my list is to replace the gearbox with a Redhead or MOPAR Big Gearbox, and likely will replace the steering shaft with a Borgeson. I need to replace the torsion bar bushings as well. I'm on the fence about a steering brace, I'm not sure it's necessary, but if I do it'll likely be the Dodge Off Road brace. This is an upgrade, but it's still at best an intermediate step up especially for worn components. Long-term I'm going to get the Synergy steering linkage along with Carli balljoints, sway bar, torsion bar, and other suspension parts. For now, I'm really loving having my truck back to better steering than before!

This product fixed my front end loose steering issues/vibration issues. My 06’ 3500 Mega Cab had just started to vibrate at 65 mph so I knew it was time to act quickly before I got the full on death wobble. This tightened my steering and eradicated any vibrations from the front end. You’ll need to purchase an 09’-18’ steering stabilizer as this upgrade will not work with an older (factory) stabilizer. If you’re thinking about it…don’t, this is a must have upgrade.

Came absolutely beat up and missing a boot on ball joint. Sent it back for replacement. Will upgrade stars if received in better condition. Does seem like good quality and much stronger than stock. second one delivered much better. after install and alignment, Death wobble! never experienced that in my truck after 10 years. it actually gave me death wobble. turns out drag link ball joint was bad. sent it back, had to eventually contact amazon to get refunded. 06 dodge ram. starting all over with the original style steering and more money for alignment.

Bought this and installed on my 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4. Bolted right up with no modification with the exception of having to trim about 3/8 inch off of the tie rod studs to keep them from rubbing on the inside of my stock wheels. After checking the taper of the tie rod ends with a micrometer, I determined they were the same as my original ones. Also bought but couldn't use the suggested Pittman arm Mopar 68039930AA due to the size of the spline being to large to fit my steering gear. So I installed it on my stock Pittman Arm. The angle of the one that wouldn't fit would have been better but it seems to work fine on the stock one. Although I never did experience the "Death Wobble" the old tie rod ends were pretty worn out and the truck did wander a lot, so I decided to upgrade to this setup and am very happy so far. I also installed the aftermarket steering gear brace. Then took it in to get an alignment. The truck now drives great!

Works great feels like a new truck again!!
