GEARWRENCH 3/8" Drive 6 Pt. 5/8" x 6" Magnetic Swivel Spark Plug Socket - 80546

I bought this spark plug socket to replace spark plugs on my Chevrolet Trax and Hyundai Santa Fe, and it worked perfectly for both vehicles. The build quality feels very solid, and the magnetic insert makes a big difference when removing old plugs and guiding new ones into place. The swivel design helps a lot in tight engine bays where straight sockets are hard to use. The magnet holds the spark plug securely, so it makes removal and installation much easier and more controlled. It fits well on a 3/8" drive and feels precise with no play. One important thing to note is that you still need to use a torque wrench for proper installation, I used an affordable Lexivon torque wrench and had no issues. Since I don’t plan to use it very often, this socket should easily last for many years. Overall, it’s a reliable, well-made tool that’s great for occasional DIY maintenance.

I picked up this 5/8" spark plug socket and I’m really happy with it so far. First impression was that it feels solid and well made, with a good weight to it that doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy. The length is just right too — long enough to easily reach down into the plug wells without being awkward to handle. The best feature by far is the magnetic insert. It holds onto the spark plug securely, which makes removing old plugs and installing new ones so much easier. No more dropped plugs, and no more fighting with the plug turning sideways when you’re trying to thread it in. That alone saves a lot of frustration. I’ve used it on a couple tune-ups now and it’s performed exactly how I hoped.

It worked just like it should! Made changing the plugs a lot easier! The magnet holder is strong and works far better than the rubber inserts and dont have to worry about the insert coming out and staying on a plug.

I've used and abused this tool repeatedly for a couple years and it's held up well. Most of the time I do not need to add and extension. On the rare occasion I do (Chevy HHR comes to mind) need and extension, it again holds up. This is the first spark plug wrench I used that does not of the rubber grommet inside to hold the spark plug. Instead it uses a magnet. The magnet is a superior solution. I'm a fan and this magnet is strong. There's a satisfying "click" when the magnet seats the plug inside the socket. Good tool, good price from a good tool company.

This magnetic spark plug socket is excellent. The magnet holds the plug firmly in place, and even with a good amount of tugging—just like I show in the video—it won’t let go. It makes removing and installing plugs so much easier. Great quality and highly reliable.

Makes removing old plugs and inserting new plugs a breeze. The magnet has enough hold to keep the plug in place, but you don't have fight to remove the plug from the socket head. The joint could be slightly stiffer to facilitate insertion of plugs at awkward angles.

Good quality, right size to remove the rear plugs on a 2018 Toyota Highlander V6 with a 3" extension added. My 11" Gearwrench swivel spark plug socket was too long to fit under the cowling. Strong magnet holds plug tight.

As it was time to do a tune up on my truck, from the position of the Coil On Plug packs on it, I knew getting into some of the locations for the spark plugs near the back of the motor was going to be a challenge in patience and sanity. I have read some of the horror stories from folks who had a heck of a time getting the spark plugs near the back of the truck engine out due to the room restrictions of the form of the body and the space between the motor and the engine body compartment. After much research and advice, even with extensions and wobbly sockets I found this was still going to be a challenge due to the space constraints of the engine compartment and where these back plugs where located on the engine, so after some in store comparisons and on the net comparisons I found this extension with a wobbly socket head that I had anticipated would work well on my Ford and for the back spark plugs. Now considering that I had looked in stores and on line and found some product to be more than what I wanted to pay, these were a bargain compared to some of the popular named brand tolls that were out there and sold in stores and even some that I looked at online. Now I did find a few similar items like this, but the quality of the tool didn't exactly instill me with confidence that this was something that would be a good value and have durability to live up to many years of good use, and I would rather spend a few dollars more to get something that is durable and well built than something that looks like it might develop a fracture or strip my spark plug while it is in the engine nor did I want to have my spark plug break and have to end up buying a removal tool or have to pull the head to pull a broken spark plug out if a removal tool couldn't do the job. So after some research I decided to give this extension wobbly socket a try and boy did it make the job of getting those back plugs out where there was not a lot of room a whole lot easier. The socket fit nicely down the spark plug hole ( never realized the depth of the hole in the head till I bought this little gem ) and once on the spark plug it was a nice snug fit, so that left me felling assured that there was no need to worry about the socket stripping the spark plug and allowed me to use only a small extension in conjunction with the wobbly/extension socket and remove my plugs with next to no cussing or scaring the neighbors away with tools flying out of the garage and into the yard in frustration. I don't think you can beat the price and the quality of this wobbly/extension socket if you looked on line and in the stores. Yes there are some name brand ones out there, but they were way more expensive then the one that this review is on and in my mind I think the quality of this wobbly/extension socket is right up their with some of the name brand ones. I would be misleading you if I said I wasn't concerned about how the back spark plugs were going to go due to the confined space of the engine compartment and the location of the back plugs, but this wobbly/extension socket made the job a heck of a lot easier and really performed well and sure put my mind at ease once I finished one of the first ones at the back using this little gem. So if you have a tight spot to get into to change your spark plug and you don't wan't to take a loan out to but a similar tool at a much higher price, give this wobbly/extension socket a try. You may find like I did that you can save your self some aggravation and make getting those spark plugs in tough spots to get at a whole lot easier to get to and save yourself some money compared to the name brand ones that you would find on line and in store.. Glad I took the chance on it, you might like to take a chance too
