Good for scale model wires
Finally a true, flush cutting, snip for soft wire. I build scale models and needed a flush cutter for soft wire and tubing. I've tried many cheap ones that didn't work. These KNIPEX are modestly priced around $30 and are worth every penny. The photos show .8mm brass tubing, which is the largest I will cut with these. One picture shows a cut using the KNIPEX, the other using a cheaper brand. The cut was flush and had minimal pinching of the tube--the hole was still open using the KNIPEX. Using my other set (orange handle in picture), the cut wasn't flush and the hole was almost pinched shut. For the small copper wires I use (the largest is 22 gage) these are excellent.

Knipex quality and thoughtful design. Trims small items very well.
This was my first time purchasing Knipex brand tools. I've used Knipex tools that were owned by others and was happy with their performance so I thought I would give these cutters a try. I was not disappointed. These cutters worked very well for close trimming of leads. The grip was nice in the hand and they cut well. I would recommend to a friend and purchase again if needed. The way these are built I doubt that I will have to purchase another set of cutters anytime soon.

I work with these types of tools every day.
I bought a pair of Klien flush cutters a month ago; they were ... okay. They lasted a month and broke. I decided to splurge and buy the Knipex. Just buy the Knipex and call it good. Excellent cutters in every way.

All cutters offer exceptional sharpness and solid construction. The 6” tie cutter model lacks a spring to assist opening. However the jaw opening is unparalleled and the grip section is terrific for tightening zip ties. It’s flat ground tip was likely chosen to protect the surface beneath a zip tie while cutting. This limits some precision use but makes sense given its intended application. Its head is also angled to allow easy access for flush cuts against walls or in tight spaces. While the KNIPEX offers exceptional quality, the narrow opening jaws severely limit its versatility. However, for the right application the KNIPEX would be great for delicate work in a compact form factor. The grip, spring and precision tip are terrific. The hinge action is unrivaled. For a tradesman tool, the lack of a tip protector or spring lock is a mistake. However, none of these tools offer a lock for transport. Both the 7” and 8” Tsunoda cutters offer the same quality and features with the 8” adding a bolt-stop which can be used to promote blade protection or to execute partial depth cuts. The 8” also offers a slightly larger/longer cutter which could be beneficial for cutting large plastic crate-ties.

When You Absolutely Want The Very Best
This is a typically flawless tool from Knipex. I have several tools from Knipex, which I buy only when it is a tool that I must absolutely positively depend upon to get a job done. Otherwise I seek out alternatives. The tool is made in Germany, living up to the German reputation for top-quality tools. Good looking, well-finished, and everything about it is perfect. I did a test cut, comparing the Knipex to a close competitor, the Xuron 170-II. These cutters are the same length, style, design, and differ only in the materials (the Knipex is Stainless Steel), and in the manufacturer - the Xuron is made in USA. The Knipex is more than twice as expensive as the Xuron. Does it cut twice as well? Not really. It DOES cut NOTICEABLY better, which is usually only obvious when comparing junk tools to good tools. But that's Knipex for you. They go the extra millimeter. If you want the ABSOLUTE BEST, then this is the tool for you.

One blade snapped off completely
Initially it operated perfectly, then while tring to cut through a thin flat battery tag, the lower blade snapped off completely. All my other Knipex tools work with perfect satisfaction. Allen 21/05/2022
