The Spicy Kick in the Pants You Didnโt Know You Needed
Harney & Sons Chai Tea: Itโs like a warm, spiced blanket for your soul, except instead of gently tucking you in, it slaps you in the face with cinnamon and says, โWake up, itโs chai time!โ This tea doesnโt mess aroundโitโs here to spice up your life whether youโre ready or not. First Impressions: Right from the start, the tin alone tells you this is no ordinary tea. You look at it, and it feels like youโve just walked into a cozy little spice market. Pop open the lid, and BAM, your nose gets hit with a symphony of spices. Seriously, itโs like a cinnamon stick, a clove, and a piece of cardamom all jumped into your sinuses for a dance party. But, you know, in a good way. This tea smells like itโs got secretsโspicy secrets. The Brew: So you brew a cup, and hereโs where the magic happens. As the hot water hits the tea leaves, you start to smell it: that perfect chai aroma that makes you feel like youโve suddenly mastered the art of tea-making. Youโre not just brewing teaโyouโre brewing an experience. Youโre practically an herbal alchemist at this point. The first sip? Oh, itโs good. Itโs real good. Itโs like every cozy autumn day has been boiled down into one perfect, spiced cup of deliciousness. The black tea gives it that bold backbone, while the cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and ginger take turns karate-chopping your taste buds with flavor. Itโs warm, itโs spicy, and itโs everything you never knew you wanted from a tea. Itโs like drinking a chai latteโbut without the overpriced coffee shop guilt. The Spice Situation: Hereโs the thing: this chai does not hold back on the spices. Itโs like the spice cabinet exploded and Harney & Sons managed to catch all the good bits. Youโll find yourself questioning whether youโre drinking tea or downing a cup of mulled spices, but in the best way possible. Itโs not overly sweet or weak like some chai blendsโitโs here to remind you that chai means business. But be warned: this tea could make you feel like youโre starring in your own Bollywood movie, doing dramatic chai-sipping close-ups in slow motion. Itโs that good. Just try not to break into a spontaneous dance routine after your first few sips. Or do. I wonโt judge. Fancy Factor: Letโs talk loose leaf for a second. If youโre using Harney & Sons loose-leaf chai, congratulations, youโve reached peak tea sophistication. Youโre no longer messing around with basic teabagsโyouโre swirling tea leaves like some sort of chai sommelier. Bonus points if youโve got a fancy teapot to match. This chai was meant to be brewed in style. And if youโre feeling extra indulgent, add a splash of milk or cream, maybe even a little honey. Boomโchai perfection. Itโs like drinking a hug. A spicy hug. From a very enthusiastic friend who smells like cinnamon.

Makes a nice concentrate
Not sure how it compares to other teas but this makes a great chai concentrate. I use 1/3cup with 2liters water & add a couple tablespoons of chai spices. Simmer for 15min & strain into ball jars. When I use the concentrate I heat a couple ounces of concentrate and add steamed milk with a little maple syrup & cinnamon.

Not very spiced?
This Chai is much closer to regular black tea than I'm used to. The black tea is strong, so I used it as I normally do regular black tea. But it just wasn't strong in spice flavors. I want to be smashed in the face with cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, really any of the various spices that show up in the different chai varieties. There just wasn't much 'umph.'

Not a lot like chai imo
It was not aromatic. Wasn't like any chai I'd bought before. Gave it away.

Excellent balance of tea & slightly lingering spices.
I drink tea all day everyday & have done for at least 30 years. Chai is my favorite & this is my favorite chai. It isn't expensive but I usually save it for special occasions afternoons & evenings on special days off, because it is SO good. It's a bold reasonably dark tea with spices that are sharp enough to come through oat/ soymilk & linger just a little. I bought a few of their other teas after having this &, while also "good", definitely not as well made as this. I'd also give high marks to their Lapsang & their Chocolate Chai.
