I had one of these and let my elderly dad have it for his recliner chair, so I got another one. I don't know why the recliner makers insist on making recliners with poofy headrests that protrude one's head forward and forcing the back to slump resulting in bad ergonomics and especially for older people who likely need firmer lumbar support anyway. This little pillow provides that lumbar support and, by its nature, pushes the back forward so that the headrest of the recliner is now more properly in line with the proper alignment of the head in relation to the back. It will take up some depth in the seat which is just the nature of the beast. This does work for my dad and for me and supports 200+ lbs, i.e., a wider back. Given the way it cradles the back, I'm sure it would be good for smaller sizes, too. The price is reasonable compared to other orthopedic-type pillows.

...but I didn't buy it for HER! I am 72 years old and have been experiencing lower back pain for a while, exercising and trying to maintain good posture and proper lifting practices throughout the day. I have a lumbar support pillow from my office chair at work that I use while watching TV on the sofa in the den upstairs. It only covers the lumbar area and presses into the soft sofa cushion back which then supports my upper back as well. However it doesn't work so well on my recliner chair with a less squishy back where I spend a lot of time reading so after doing extensive research I bought this lumbar support pillow which also has upper back support. It works to perfection on my recliner giving me excellent back support from top to bottom. The problem is my wife tried it out, was impressed with the support and comfort and now opts for MY chair instead of the sofa when she's in the living room chilling out. Note to potential purchasers: despite some negative comments, I found this cushion gives excellent lumbar support, the Goldilocks of lumbar cushions--not too much, not too little but just right. It comes vacuum packed and compressed in a heavy plastic bag which is contained within another plastic tube with a zipper. True you have to cut it out of the inner bag which you won't need again anyway. And you have to let it sit for a few minutes to decompress to its functional size, the same as you need to do with any memory foam products that are usually compressed for shipping. I noticed no objectionable odors and the product seems sturdy and well made. I (and the wife) look forward to many years of increased back comfort and would recommend this product to anyone else who has lower back pain. I find it really helps.

I purchased this back support pillow for my office chair because I wanted the correct depth to the memory foam for more support. The pillow is perfect, however the cover had to be thrown away. I removed the cover to hand wash it and replace it back onto the pillow. I discovered that once removed, the cover is impossible to replace back onto the pillow. It did not shrink, it's just too small and the zipper area does not allow enough room to even try to place it on again. I am using the memory foam support pillow though because I placed a velvet pillow case over it that fit perfectly.

I’m slowly recovering from a painful back injury that includes moderate sciatica. My physical therapist strongly suggested that I support my lumbar area when sitting in my recliner. I’ve tried several different pillows/ cushions but none gave me the support plus comfort I was looking for. Other lumbar pillows I’ve had never did the trick. So I looked on Amazon and after many excellent reviews I chose this lumbar pillow. Omg!! It provides the perfect support and is incredibly comfortable. It’s firm and yet has a softness too. It supports my lumbar area and my mid and upper back too. It’s sides are slightly curved and feels like it wraps you in comfy support. It works perfectly in my big recliner. I want to get one for my office chair too. It’s very well made. If you have back pain and are looking for support don’t hesitate to try this lumbar pillow. You won’t be sorry.
