PetSafe Martingale Quick-Snap Dog Collar, Deep Purple, 3/4 in, Medium

This has been a great collar for our dog. The only thing to know is that plastic becomes brittle, so the buckle will eventually fail. We found this out when we were camping and a deer came to visit and our dog tried to chase it, and when he reached the end of his tie out, the buckle broke and he was able to chase the deer across the campground. The collar was 5 years old, so it was probably time to replace. The price point is excellent, so we'll just start replacing the collar yearly.

This fits my medium size dachshund and works well to keep him on his way when we walk. My dogs (dachshunds) were trained early on in these collars and they are not hard on the neck, but just put a little pressure that helps steer them or keep them on the path. It looks nice on and the color is deep. The quality is very good.

Small, 1/2 inch, for 9-11 inch neck behind ears. My dog is 10 inch behind ears and I adjusted the collar so that the OUTSIDE measurement of the collar (not including martingale loop) webbing from ring to ring is 11 inches (11 3/4 including the rings) and his head doesn't pull out. Possibly he could get it off if his ears were smashed through it but he didn't want to test that ;-) The best part, is if he were alone and caught his collar on something, the martingale loop provides enough slack that he could pull out of the collar and avoid stranglulation. The collar is sturdy and the overlapped, stitched parts seem a little too stiff and bulky for a small dog. The martingale loop tends to lie kind of flat, not loopy as depicted in the size diagram, because of the overlapped, stitched webbing at the D-ring. Probably should use a thinner or narrower (or both) webbing to make the small collar, or at least the martingale loop. Our dog is a 14-lb chihuahua-daschund ChiWeenie (possibly) Otherwise, it looks well-made and could probably hold up to a Rottweiler pulling hard, if it would fit a Rottweiler. There is a small plastic tag near the buckle, on the collar near the martingale; for ID tags. Neither the webbing, the buckle, nor the rings have rough spots to chafe the dog. He approves.

Our Goldendoodle measures 11" and at 5 months got the medium size which the sizing chart says its to be good for 10" - 16". IT'S TOO BIG!!! Thank goodness she'll grow bigger and this should fit properly in the coming months. Ordered a SMALL which should fit and perform it's job correctly. Would have given 5 stars if the size was right from the onset. Would rather use this martingale collar for this gentler breed. Our Rottweilers use choke chains (Made in Germany). Should've followed the advise of the other reviews that recommended to buy one size smaller. At "full pull" this size collar compresses to just a regular collar with still enough clearance for two fingers. With other future dogs to enter our household, no problem having different collar stock for future use. The positives are: strong plastic snap that most martingales don't have, quality vinyl straps, thick chromed metal rings. Will do another review once the Small arrives. Update: The Small arrived and fits snuggly with enough leeway to last for our dog's neck to grow another inch. Am so pleased, now that it's the right size, we ordered a second in purple to expand her wardrobe!!! UPDATE: The Small size arrived and the collar works as it should. With our standard sized Goldendoodle approaching 6 months old, this collar should be good til she's a year old, then the originally ordered Medium, should them be as effective. First pic is Medium, Second is Small wherein at "full pull" compression is felt with no space for any fingers. Wife wishes they would make a small in 1" as she finds the wider collar makes her dog cuter! I'm happy enough with the 3/4". Will look to get purple color for Xmas with a matching leash. Am getting a kick of giving the wife her doggie surprises. For the same amount of happiness she gets, it's way cheaper on my pocket than a handbag,clothes or shoes!!!!

I have been buying this brand and type of collars for years for my mini pinscher dogs. They have slim necks and small heads, and can easily spin or back out of most collars as they are very lively and quick. The Petite size is the only one that fits my breed. The martingale feature keeps the collars secure. These collars are not expensive and have a few advantages over their competitors. #1, they are softer material than most. Minpins have thin skin and will not tolerate a collar with sharp or hard edges. #2, most important to me, is that there is a separate loop as part of the closure where you can attach your dog's tags. I bought a few other brands, and was amazed at how many did NOT include this very necessary feature! I returned them all. #3, they have a quick snap buckle that is easy to use. Others were way too wide or stiff or had to be taken off over their head. I just wish PetSafe would offer the Petite size martingale collars in more colors. Currently they are limited to blue, red, black and purple. How about a nice pink, turquoise or green? Thanks for making a great product!

Good collar fits my 7 month labrador perfectly. I use this with long line for training, correction to the dog and for walks only.

I ordered the medium size for my small beagle but it seemed big (and I do understand how the martingale should fit). I contacted the company's customer service department via email and, after some back and forth to confirm the problem, they sent a size small, which works for her. (She seems to be on the borderline for sizes and the martingale hoop on the medium size seemed very big for her.) I'm not sure why the medium size based on the chart measurement didn't work for her but they did resolve the problem. We just received the replacement collar and it seems well-made and reasonably priced (as did the original one). I can't speak to durability and sturdiness at this point but the company does stand by its products! Very nice customer service people!

Initially I was happy with the martingale ( purchased a medium size) until my husky was able to slip out of it & ran off. It was a dangerous & stressful situation for my son as my husky could have been kill or seriously injured. Our walking route was next to a busy highway with busy traffics on both side of the road day or night. Our walking route shouldn’t matter if the collar fits nicely and tightly around the neck! The snap on buckle was good as it can be fit around the dog’s neck with ease but it would be BETTER if they can cooperate the design where we can adjust the tightness of the collar. Another martingale in the bin for me😐😔😤

Terrible sizing info, I ordered a medium based on measuring my dog. Collar just arrived and does not fit even on the smallest setting I was replacing the same collar he has worn for the last 18 months with no issues so would love to give a great review but such a massive difference in his neck measurement and the collar he would be at risk of slipping out of it, going to try the small one considering the medium is so much bigger the small might actually fit (even though his neck measurement is to large for it!)

Es un buen producto. Buenos materiales y resistencia Tener cuidado con las tallas; en mi caso, pensando que la talla "Large" seria la adecuada para mi Pastor Belga de 9 meses, resulto holgada. Al primer instante que me descuide se la quitó y la destrozó. Adquirí después talla mediana, le queda muy bien y valido que es bastante funcional.
