My old filter broke and had to be replaced. My RV water pump is mounted directly to the floor. The old filter was inline with the horizontal water pipe and circular, so it screwed right in without having to move the water pump. The new filters, because the actual filter sits below the water pipe has clearance issues and requires that you either raise the water pump off the floor and put it on a platform, or use an adapter and flexible hose to allow the filter to sit slightly above the water pump. This is the approach I took, as it's the simplest. It requires additional connections and hence, additional opportunities for leaks, but so far, so good. Final message: measure first and make sure you have clearance to install this.

Replacement has better form, fit, and function. Honoson Shurflo water pump strainer filter for rv is better than original! I recommend purchasing extra of this item.

Quality feels fine. Plastic but feels sturdy. Just pay attention to the little arrow showing the flow of water and do not over tighten. This is one of those products that just works. Nothing to write home about. I would buy again.

I actrually use this on my stock waterer. Filters out fine grip that was getting in the diaphram and causing the float not to stop, and waterer was always over flowing. This little baby has solved the problem.
