At first I was a bit disappointed, but I realized that the instructions that say “open the bag” are referring to the little sack (right side of the main product picture above), not just the black-mint colored bag it comes in that you see on the left side. It’s probably obvious to most people, since opening the product packaging goes without saying, but I know I’m not the only one who might make that mistake and never actually open the little sack before placing it. So anyway, make sure you do it correctly! After I figured that out, I was genuinely shocked at how well it absorbed the dead rat odor that has consumed my kitchen for weeks. I’m in an apartment, there’s a rat problem inside the mechanical chases, and one of them died in proximity to my unit a month or so ago. Unfortunately it’s not a situation where they could realistically find and remove the body, so I wasn’t expecting much could be done about the smell. This still worked though, even with the source still in the walls. And mind you, the odor was so bad that the property maintenance team actually had to come in to bleach the area where the smell appeared to be entering from, every single day for at least a week. My apartment smelled like an indoor pool because it was the only way to cover up the foul, potent smell of decaying rodent. I’ll grant that this stuff wasn’t used until after it already started dying down, but it was still very present and noticeable from the minute you walked in. This product is what finally made my apartment actually feel like home again for the first time since the rat died, because it truly erased the odor. I’m probably not going to be reusing it, but you apparently can if you disinfect with sunlight. Instead, I actually chose to pour a bunch of the stuff out of the bag to cover the whole source area, and I feel like that really helped. Highly recommend!

Some animal got in attic and fell through between wall and frame of house and it had to go through the decay stage as there was no way to get to it. I put the pouches out in bedroom and bathroom and closed off for a few days and was really impressed at how they absorbed odor. I highly recommend. Another use for them is in closet. I put a pouch in basket where my rubber soul casual shoes are and it absorbed the foot odor. Let’s face it human feet have an odor.

After reading the many positive reviews, I decided to try this for the dead mouse smell we had in our living room. We figured it died in the wall or under floor because we couldn’t find the mouse anywhere. It was overpowering and nauseating, and seemed to be coming from one certain wall, where the smell was the worst. I don’t have a large living room but decided to buy two of these. I was excited I thought I had finally found a product to take the smell away, based on all the rave reviews this product got. NOPE! It didn’t work! I put the two bags out at each end of the wall. One bag I even opened up. Don’t waste your money. I don’t understand how the same product can work so well for some, and not at all for others.

I had something die inside the back wall of my walk-in closet. After two attempts it could not be located. Therefore, to avoid costly deconstruction/reconstruction of the walls, it was recommended to wait it out. I purchased these (2) in hopes it would help with the odor of the decomposing animal. It did to slightly reduce the intensity, however, it does not completely remove it. I must add that there was no way to ventilate this closet, i.e. window, and had that been an additional option, it may have worked better.

This stuff actually works!!! I placed it in a bedroom where a rat died in the wall. It did not remove all the stink but it’s bearable. It’s worth the money. I’m going to get another one.

It didn't work for me..I was super disappointed. It didn't even touch the smell. The smell is about to drive me CRAZY. Ughhh
