Review: SO HELPFUL! - This book is GREAT, it is a perfect companion for clinical courses in my PMHNP program. It works well with the DSM-5. It offers suggestions for screening, therapy, assessments, and treatment for many psychiatric illnesses. I literally use this book almost as often as my Stahl' Prescriber's Guide and definitely more often than some of the books that were required for my classes. It was one I just stumbled into and took a chance and bought it. No regrets! Review: Helpful - This is incredibly helpful for me, as I am a new clinician. The book goes through best forms of treatment tailored to each diagnosis and even adds information to be considered for each one. Extremely helpful and cannot recommend it enough if you’re planning to be or starting out as a new clinician/therapist!

Good for reference
Really good book. They suggest DO A CLIENT MAP at the beginning of the book and then go through each diagnosis following that acronym which made it very easy to follow. I am glad I purchased this book versus renting it because I will be using it for future reference. Invest in this book. It is a definite must have for your collection.

Great
This book is great to help a new clinician conceptualize cases. I wish it was more updated to the DSM-5-TR however.

Easily sums up DSM-5
This book is a must have!! I am studying for the NCMHCE and a supplement that I purchased to study for the exam recommended this book. I figured it would be yet another counseling book I've bought, where I'd skim through it and only read what I find applicable. Wrong!! I cannot put this book down!! It basically sums up the entire DSM-5 in an easy to read format. There are plenty of studies cited in the reading, but it doesn't feel like a purely academic read at all. It cuts out everything that you don't need to know. I wish this book had been part of my graduate school reading, because I believe I would have been much less stressed about learning the diagnoses and knowing what interventions to apply in my clinical internship.

I purchased this book for my MSW graduate course and it was very beneficial. It thoroughly explains diagnoses and provides a case study to aid in properly identifying and implementing effective treatments. Overall, it was a good purchase and something I will keep and continue to use professionally as a LCSW.
