Hunter Douglas Platinum Technology 2.1 18V DC Plug-in Transformer (10' Foot Extension Cord)

Excellent product that works great on two different windows using only one transformer. Big savings, bye bye batteries.

My Hunter Douglas motorized blackout shade was heavy - it covered a 3 panel patio door. The motor was powered by 12 AA batteries which drained pretty quickly. I replaced the battery wand with this AC adapter and it does the trick - much smoother operation.

Charging $82 for an AC-DC transformer is beyond ridiculous. One can easily rig his own DC power supply for about $15-35, depending on whether you need an extension cord. I did it for $35. The BOM is as follows. An AC-DC transformer (up to 24 V and 2 A). $20. If you can find a fixed 18V 2A transformer, it’ll probably cost less, say $15. A female to female DC tip adapter. $6. You will need this because the power supply output and the blinds’ DC input are of the same sex. A 6-foot, 18 AWG DC extension cord. $9. I need this for cosmetic reasons.

I no longer have to purchase scads of batteries to keep my Hunter Douglas Power View blind operating efficiently.

This power supply is good. I have installed 3 of these and discarded 8 battery sleeves. Good to know that I do not have to change the batteries anymore! Getting appropriate low voltage wiring supplies was a challenge. Using cables for security cameras as well as Hunter Douglas cables and making some custom cables using inexpensive connectors I was able to get the job done. One note of caution: Do not plug the power supply into the power outlet before making all connections. The power supply can get shorted and may cause a spark. This still survived and I became more careful!

All good. Item was drop-shipped from Hunter Douglas, but they mistakenly sent it to this vendor, who then overnight shipped it at their expense to me. Vendor was very responsive!

Hunter Douglas makes a very good product, but once installed and you need parts you get ripped off. This part should not have failed in the firstpalce, and should not cost more than $25. Shameful corporate behavior.

We have now used for a couple of months. Nice no longer having to replace so many batteries!
