I initially purchased this journal for a client because of the symbolism of the Tree of Life. I have several variations of the Tree of Life in my home as it is one of my favorite images. I was pleased about the the quality and the look. My client's reaction was wonderful which confirmed that I made the right purchase. I bought 3 more - one for my business partner, one for me and as a thank you gift for another client. I read the description and comments especially in the low ratings very carefully before buying the first one. I was surprised that for the price it is really leather - (I can see it in the under skin and there is the smell of leather). The journal papers does not lay flat - they give you a good amount of paper and I assume that's why there is a strap to wrap around the binder and I handle with care. I also paid attention that the journal is an insert which is why it's refillable. There was a small tear on back grey insert but it didn't take away from the functionality and quickly fixed with a piece of tape. I liked the personal thank you note - it was a nice touch. I believe as with leather, it will soften over time. Every experience is different and I wanted to be intentional and thoughtful with my review to ensure my expectations were realistic. I found this product to be excellent especially for the price. I have more expensive journals that are not this beautiful. I will definitely buy this again. I am initially giving it an overall 4 stars because it just came so I haven't had a chance to use it as yet. I forgot to add that the bag to present it in adds to the beauty of the gift. I have just updated my rating to 5 Stars.

Beautiful journal cover. I just received it so I can only speculate that the cover is sturdy. It definitely seems like it will hold up to normal use just fine. The leather is rigid, not soft. It is also thin. The dimensions of the cover are 8" x 6", but the refill you will need is a little smaller. I was hoping i could use it as a cover for some existing small notebooks that i have, but the dimensions are a little off. The measurement of the writing pages insert (when open) is 11 7/8 inches by 7 3/4 inches. The insert is 3/4 inch thick when closed. The paper is wide ruled and has a spot in the top, right, of each page (front and back) formatted for the date. The cover of the insert is thin card stock, so I'll probably sacrifice a couple extra pages to use as reinforcements to prevent the cover from coming off easily as mentioned in another review. I thought the "stone" was going to be turquoise, that is my fault for not zooming in. I included a close-up picture showing the cabochon for others out there on smaller screens. It is still very pretty. Overall, I would say this is a great buy. I think it would make a great gift. It's so pretty that I want to leave it out in plain site, so maybe it wasn't the best choice for private thoughts, lol. 2/20/2026 - I am just now looking for a refill. The cover is still like new. I've just recently softened enough to start opening the book so far that I flip the left side around to the back because I know I'm not going to hurt this thing. The 8x6 refill I bought is just a little too big, the cover pages used to slide into the binding crinkle up when I close the book despite ensuring I've pushed them in as far as possible. If I don't use this as an excuse to buy another cover I'll just use elastics to turn it into a traveler-style journal. I think it's most important to note this thing is still like new.

This is a must read! I love this journal from the quality of the leather to the sweet note that came with it! I don’t think I have been more satisfied with anything I’ve EVER purchased on AMAZON. The journal - It is simply beautiful! The craftsmanship of the design, the quality of the leather (especially for the price), the meaningful tree with roots, and the beautiful turquoise eye in the very middle! The paper is even amazing! Great quality and thickness! The only thing I would like different on mine and a clasp or some type of hook to close it rather than the tie. The owners - I was so impressed by the level of attention they used to package the journal! It arrived in an almost linen like storage sack and came with a BEAUTIFUL personal note from the owners explaining how much care they put into their work and why it’s so important to them. ❤️ I want the owners to know, the care and love you feel for your products is received when your customers open them. I bought this for the cover, cut the journal, and placed a small Catholic book inside it tucked into the pocket cover. On the other side, I put the journal (but cut it down to fit). Now I have a cute Missellette and journal for my trip to Italy/Vatican. Even lasered my name on the inside. I am going to use a bit of my boot oil to soften it up the leather a bit as well. Very nice quality. Came fast shipping

Perfect Xmas gift!

Smelled a little at first but it went away, just let me know it's real leather that'll last! (Pleather sucks lol) It doesn't stay very flat and the string doesn't really help but oh well. Cute little notebook, I like the ability to get refills.

The first thing that hit me, upon opening the package was the smell of leather. It was glorious! (Sorry, PETA) It's so well made, down to the last stitch; the decorative stone is securely placed. I'm a writer, so I searched everywhere for 2 weeks, trying to find the perfect, refillable journal. When I'm writing for profit, I use a computer, but when I'm writing for myself, nothing beats a trusty journal that stays with you wherever you go. I have severe Rheumatoid Arthritis, so my hands turn into bananas, at will. I'm really glad this journal is both easy to hold and write in, on both sides of the paper. Plus, I suspect it'll get even better with use. The paper refills are easy to find right here on Amazon, and you can get blank, kraft, lined, or my favorite, dotted. It comes with a personal note from the seller, which added a nice personal touch; people who still like actual journals will likely understand this better than full on-techies. This would make a great, reasonably priced, gift for almost anyone for any occasion. I highly recommend this.

Very nice quality. I love that new journals can be inserted. The size is perfect to take with you for journaling on travel.
