It is high quality and will last no matter how much you abuse it and over pack it. This thing lasts! I've used it to wheel heavy cans and groceries home when I shop after going to classes. I packed an entire deskful of stuff in it when I was moving home from the dorms and left it packed to the gills for two weeks while I set up my new desk in my old bedroom (dorm food sucks I'm staying home) I once spilled about two cups of pomegranite juice in the middle compartment and while it did take some effort to get it all out and dry - it never got my textbooks wet. Funny thing, as I was using five pounds of disposable handtowels drying this backpack out, my first thought when I saw the clean textbooks was "I gotta tell the people on Amazon about this!" It is almost 100% waterproof as far as I know, it also takes sweating waterbottles and lunchboxes without getting mildew smelling. I've used it as a desk when I was taking open book chemistry tests in a theatre (which doubles as a classroom for math, biology and chemistry as it is a large room) the top was tall enough to hold my open textbook and the side pocket (big enough to hold a two liter but secure enought to hold a one liter) made my extra pencils and calculator easy to reach. I live in Alaska, this bag spends most of its life 2 inches in snow and twice a year it tends to get constantly swung around by the handle as I get on and off shuttles and dodge numerous piles of ducksh*t (ALL canadian geese fly over UAA I swear!) In the summer all the gravel that is laid down as traction is scattered everywhere all over Alaska, it even gets tracked into all of the buildings here (it's called Break-up and it sucks) and so this thing has been rolled over lots of gravel. Everyonce in a while a loose stone gets caught in the wheel works and the wheel jams up but it's a two second fix you just have to dig out the stone. Point is the wheels don't even look like they are scratched yet, I do have to keep re-tightening a screw in the middle of the handle or I can't collapse it but it takes two seconds and a pen - big deal. It holds all of the rest of my bags combined including my laptop bag. It is too large for the days where you only have one class so I use my laptop bag for those days. The bad thing about this backpack is that it weighs two pounds by itself as it is weighted (and will definately not fall over). The straps are a pain to hook, unhook and tuck away when I want to carry it for 5 minutes then roll it for five, then carry it for five depending on which building I'm walking through. With my old rolling backpack I was able to throw the straps over the handle and it took two seconds to convert it, not a full minute. I also wear a 4X T-Shirt (Womens) and have no trouble with the straps, getting it on and off isn't a problem but I don't think a 5X could wear this backpack. PROS Wide Wheels Holds an amazing amount of stuff At least 90% waterproof. Will not fall over Cons Heavy Straps annoy me just a little Only fits up to a 4x (Womens sizes, not mens) This backpack is built for those who need to haul around a lot of stuff, it is designed to roll around everywhere, not to be carried. You CAN do both it's just designed to be more of a suitcase designed for college classes than an actual backpack.

This backpack is a great addition to our school supplies. It rolls like a dream, has a durable shell, and solid seams. The color is a really nice blue and will really help with all the books my kid has to carry this year. It’s a huge plus that there are three pockets, and it has a wide enough base that it doesn’t tip easily so long as it isn’t front-loaded. My older child has owned this same backpack for four years now and it is still going strong. It has even survived a forgotten school lunch in the front pocket (so very gross) and the lining cleaned up well with dish soap scrubbing and antibacterial wipes. I thought it was a goner for sure. I would recommend teaching kids to lift from the top handle of the backpack rather than the telescoping rolling handle when going up stairs. We have had a few friends break theirs using it improperly to lift. Otherwise, it seems really durable.

I've had this same model of backpack for about 10 years and I just bought a second one for my younger brother. I don't have a car so I use this backpack to carry groceries. Despite every manner of repeated abuse (stuffed to the brim, dragged over obstacles, pulled up the stairs while holding 50 pounds of groceries, etc.), the only sign of wear that mine shows is some ripped fabric on the bottom (and even so, it is still fully functional). When I got the new one for my brother, I saw that it had a heavy plastic guard in the place where mine is ripped, so even that should not be a problem for him. The only other problem I've ever had with mine was that one of the wheels started sticking for a while, but that was easily fixed with a screwdriver. The one downside is that, while this backpack does have straps so it can be worn on the back, it is not very comfortable to carry that way because the pulling handle will dig into your back. If you are looking for a backpack to wear, this might not be your best pick. But if you want a VERY sturdy rolling backpack with LOTS of room, this is an excellent choice. Bottom line: Expensive but very worth the price!

This backpack is big and it fits everything I need in it. So far it seems pretty durable. You could buy a cheaper backpack but it’s worth the money if you are going to be in school for a while because of the lifetime warranty JanSport offers. My laptop is a little bigger than what it says will fit in the laptop pocket. It still fits, I just can’t Velcro the strap over the top(no big deal). There are two things that I don’t really like. One is that there is hard plastic going across the top of the backpack under where the handle is to help it keep its shape. This can make it a little awkward to get your books out of the big pocket when your backpack is really full. The other thing I don’t like is that inside the big pocket is where the parts of the handle are located with only a thin piece of cloth over it. So if you don’t put your stuff inside carefully then your books, notebooks and loose leaf books can be messed up by it because it’s not flat. But overall it’s a good backpack and holds everything I need it to.

My kid's backpack is going to be particularly heavy this year and this backpack will perfectly hold all the books and endure the teenage angst without breaking the back. I chose this rolling backpack because of Jansport's tested lifetime guarantee to fix and return any defect (of which I've only had one after subjecting a Jansport backpack to the grueling Saharan Desert for two years--and they fixed it!). The durability and quality makes this rolling backpack worth every single penny paid. The colors and functionality make it perfectly appealing to the teenager, too.

I have been purchasing backpacks, for my two children, for the past 15 years, and this one is the best I've ever bought! I have learned over the years to never buy a cheap backpack! In the end, you will end up buying 2-3 backpacks during the school year, so what did you save?? I always buy quality backpacks (usually from Pottery Barn online). The only constant problem I find with Pottery Barn is the fact that the handle (I always buy "roller backpacks" to save my kid's backs"), always jams! Also, the wheels on pottery barn aren't the best, and sometime won't roll properly. JanSport has proven to me to have the best backpack available! The handle "glides smoothly", up and down, and never jams. The wheels are like the "Cadillac" of backpack wheels. I'm impressed for sure! The backpack design is well thought out, plenty of room, even for a laptop. My son is only in 5th grade now, and even though this backpack could easily accommodate a college student or adult, I actually prefer the "roominess" of this one. I love the multiple pockets, which range in size. Plenty of room in the smaller pocket with lots of compartments for pens, pencils etc. The durability of the backpack material is sure to last the entire school year and then some. The price is very reasonable for what you get. Definitely would recommend for school age (3-5th grade), high school, college or adults.

My Previous score was 5 stars and I kept that original review below so you can see it...but only after 4 uses (and light weight ones at that!) the foot completely broke off! I know, everyone, it is very disappointing. I did hours of research and just want a good bag. I have a non-wheeled JanSport backpack that has resisted the true tests of time, but wanted to give my back a rest for medical school. Thought this was the ticket. BUT 4 DAYS!!!!! I didn't want to believe the negative reviews after all the positive I read all over the internet on medical student sites. But the screw snapping and foot falling off from being pulled a short distance to and from my door - to my car -via elevator - to class is just too much. Fellow classmates bought far cheaper wheeled backpacks on Amazon and they have lasted 8 weeks and are going strong. Sad to update that you should save your time and money,,,just pass on buy this one =( Previous review - I really wish it was true =( So far so good. I only recently received this. s/h took longer than promised. I did tons of research for bags/backpacks that withstand the weight and time a medical education demands, and this bag was mentioned in every single place I looked. Have compared to others in my classes and this is a far superior quality. One poor classmate had her nice, new, cute colored bag and the wheel split in two during just week 3 of our program! She paid a lot less, but it is true, you get what you pay for when it comes to wheeled bags. This is not the cutest option out there but it is durable. My previous backpack is also a JanSport. I have been using that for 4 years, giving it quite the work out too. It does not show signs of age or wear and tear. The water bottle mesh is still perfect and has never failed me. I just started medical training and have learned the only way to prevent being medicated the entire time of schooling for overstrained back issues is to get a wheeled bag. I never thought I would join the wheeled bag club, but I have. What is extra nice about this bag is it has straps to be a backpack too. That was a function that all my research indicated I should be searching for. The other top ranked is High Sierra's PowerGlide. It is cheaper than this bag and cuter, but it says it is out of stock from 1 month to 6 months depending on your color choice through Amazon. I could not wait that long. This said it was in stock and ready to ship same day. I placed an order on Friday and the said they guaranteed it would arrive by Monday. That was a little too optimistic on their part because it actually did not arrive until almost 9:00 pm on Wednesday. Just an FYI to any of you out there wanting something quick.

Come sempre comprare su Amazon è un piacere. La consegna stimata era per il 14 ma è arrivato il 9 mattina, addirittura in anticipo di ben 5 giorni ( ottimo ). Il prodotto oltre ad essere bello è perfetto per la scuola di mio figlio. Contiene tantissimi libri oppure, grazie alle varie cerniere i soffietti possono essere ridotti a dimensioni minime. Sicuramente non è ad un prezzo particolarmente basso ma svolge benissimo il compito per cui lo si acquista.

I had the same backpack (in black) that I used for ten years. It literally carried me across the universe. I relied on it mostly to carry my books, gym stuff, and food (I'm a graduate student). I had to throw it away because at the end of the tenth year, the tires were making a lot of noise and the zippers part were torn apart. I've recently invested in a new one (same style as the previous one) but this time in red. I used it yesterday for the first time and I'm so happy with my order. No back pain whatsoever because I did not have to carry all the weight on my shoulders. I highly recommend this backpack, especially to students. Also, arrived in less than a week. I was not in a rush but I still appreciate the swiftness.
