Scimmer build
This scimmer real does the job. Rigid enough to support water pressure and dirt surrounding it. Have not had any issues with it. If anything it is difficult to cut through when installing pump hose. All the way I would make it.

The best purchase for my pond
I am so glad I decided to get this! It skins all the falling debris off the top of the pond before it can sink and dirty the bottom. The only downside is it was hard to guess where the water line would be, but that was because I was new. Next time will be easier.

Works great!
Very happy with it. Does what it should. I have had it a while now and runs like a charm.

Heavy duty construction but inadequate design
I opened the box to inspect this SK5 Skimmer and found that the 6" weir opening is smaller than I would prefer, not a fan of the oddball shaped net that is difficult to remove and reinsert, and as others have noted, the 5 brushes slide off the metal rod that holds them. The housing itself is heavy duty and should hold up to being backfilled into place. But for the forementioned reasons I returned it and purchased a different skimmer.

A skimmer is essential for a pond IMO
My concern with reviewing this is that I don't have experience with other skimmers for comparison. In any case, I'll just relate my thoughts and experience with this skimmer. My pond is roughly about 1500 gallons. Cons: 1) I found the mouth/entry to be a bit small for this size container (subjective). 2) The overflow holes confuse me. The pond would have to be several inches over the lines in the front. For my pond, it would overflow from the sides well before. I will have to make my own hole. Could be my inexperience. 3) The face of the inlet was off by about 1/8 of an inch where the two halves were fused together. This is a bad place to have a mismatch. I just put tons of silicone, but it left me anxious. 4) Getting this level is tedious. This goes for any/all of them, but take your time and get it right. 5) The grey cross supports are different sizes, be sure you know which goes where. 6) The design is odd. It worked perfectly for me as I had lined the upper/top of my pond with cement blocks. I dug a hole, pulled a block out, and slid it in place. Try to calculate how that shape fits for you. 7) it is big, and not easy to hide. Pros: 1) This thing is pretty thick/durable. 2) Comes with cross supports. 3) Lid is decent, and allows you to add sand. 4) The shape worked for me, make sure it works for your install. 5) It has a large cavity if you choose to put your pump in it. 6) The net and brushes work pretty well. 7) It has most of the parts/stuff you will need for the install. I'll add a quick picture or two, but my pond is still very much a work in progress. This is my first and only pond. It is a something for the ducks & chickens to enjoy (thus the fake plants). All the large rock is stuff I grabbed from on or around my property. Best of luck with your project(s).

Pond skimmer
About this unit hoping that it would help me have a near maintenance-free pond. So far so good. This is a well-designed and very sturdy unit that I'm sure will last for many years. I also bought an Aquascape pump to install with this unit and together they do a wonderful job helping me to maintain my pond. This unit contains several brushes which hang inside of the unit collecting small particles which the netting that catches the heavier debris such as leaves allows to flow by.

I've had this skimmer for 2 seasons now and it has been perfect. survived last winter completely frozen no problem. I did put my 2" Pipe higher than the marked place on the side because I wanted to be able to completely drain the pipe before winter. I also used a 2" bulkhead for the pipe. Other than that installed as recommended and it is great. Pretty easy to level out as well. And the grate helps keep the fish out which is definitely a "great" idea! ;)

Bigger then I thought it was going to be works well. So not sure why but can’t seem to get a great seal. Took it out and replaced my old liner not sure about putting in back in the face isn’t smooth were there joined the plastic in place
