Very impressive piece of kit - once you've climbed that learning curve
For around a year, I'd been using Audacity for home music recording. It was very intuitive to learn and get some decent results from. The latest update though didn't seem to be backwardly compatible with my old recordings and, on the recommendation of a friend, I thought I'd check out PreSonus Studio One as a step up in home music production. Initially I got very poor results trying to configure the native Windows 11s audio and decided that I would invest in the Audiobox hardware at the currently advertised very reasonable price (Nb. the price on this page seems to vary from day to day, so make sure you order on a "good" day!). Well, let's be honest, Studio One is way more complex than Audacity and it's taken me a couple of days of tinkering and submitting two tickets to the PreSonus support guys to get myself up and running. Now that It's all working though, I have to say that I am truly impressed. There's no hum or other distortion on recording guitar, synth or vocals and no noticeable latency. The fairly steep learning curve is mitigated to a degree by a series of tutorial videos and the aforementioned support team, who replied to both my tickets within 24 hours. I'm running Studio One Professional on a 30 day trial, but the Audiobox comes with the Artist version of the app and a shedload of other software utilities, which I will spend many happy hours exploring. The build quality of the Audiobox is great - the metal case feels suitably robust and the rotary controls have a nice tactile feel to them. Oh and the Audiobox works beautifully with Audacity too, in case you find the Studio One software a bit OTT for your needs. Overall, for the modest purchase price, this is a superb product, which should meet the needs of anyone experimenting with music composition at home. Happy to recommend it as a 5 star product.

Everything that you need to start making music
This is an ideal purchase for the first-time content creator or for recording/Mixing your music It comes with an audio interface that is very easy to set up on your PC you get a pair of Studio headphones that are well-matched to the interface and are great for Mixing you also get a quality condenser microphone to complete the package there is also a package that also includes a pair of studio Speakers that produce an amazing sound but that item was sold out when I made my purchase but I did order them separately they cost a bit more than they would have been as part of the full bundle but are a must buy to complete this bundle you get all the software needed to start producing /recording music and a video taking you through the process of setting up the software and hardware and also a from start to finish mixing tutorial you can also use this set-up for a podcast very good buy for the price but I would get the bundle that includes the speakers if they are back in stock

Presonus Audiobox 96 a great audio interface at a great price.
These interfaces are great, as a pro musician/teacher I have used these in schools and on location. They are really well made and tough so the odd drop should hopefully be okay. If you plug one into a Mac you don't need any drivers it just works and if you have a pc based system its easy to get drivers from Presonus on their website. On the front panel you have 2x multi input sockets which can take mic xlr as well as 6.5mm jacks so that you could for example record yourself playing guitar as well as vocals at the same time. There is also a 48v phantom power button to enable you to use condensor mics that require a voltage to work. There are 2 gain controls with clip lights for each channel and a mixer knob so that you can get lower latency recordings (cuts down the delay between playing/singing a note and hearing it back through headphones /monitors). There is also a knob/dial for headphone volume and a main output volume knob which like the others is knurled and feels great. On the back of the unit is a usb socket to power the device (no need for a power supply). If you have older gear with midi sockets you will be glad to see Presonus include 2 midi sockets in and out. Next are left and right main output jack sockets a headphone socket and a Kensington lock port. When I bought mine Presonus included a decent software bundle including a cut down version of there recording software based on Studio One. I use a variety of different interfaces in my job and can honestly say these are excellent and well worth every penny.

Great value audio interface
So you want to record audio on your PC/Mac. Then you will need an audio interface. This Presonus has two channels which can take 1/4" plugs for guitar leads or XLR cables (microphones). It provides phantom power to those mics that need it. It connects to your PC/Mac via USB. With my Mac nothing else was required. It was recognised and became the default input and output for audio. In respect of output you have separate volume controls for headphones (1/4" jack) and stereo output to studio monitors if you have any to connect. Sound quality is great. It's a simple bit of gear that works well with excellent sound. It also comes with a massive software suite however I've not bothered with that as I have Logic Pro so cannot comment on it's pros and cons other than to say you get a basic sequencer and a lot of software instruments and effects so you could start recording music with that if you do not have any other programs like Logic or Cubase etc

Robust Audio and midi box
Nice cheap audio box. I chose it for live work because it is built like a tank. It could do with a soft on/off switch because it goes off with an audio bang when the power is cut to it.

Here's my take on this entry-level audio interface from a novice perspective. Firstly, the setup process was refreshingly simple. The AudioBox 96 is USB-powered, and connecting it to my computer was as easy as plug-and-play. The included Studio One Artist software, while offering powerful features, was surprisingly user-friendly for someone just starting out. The quick start guide provided clear instructions, making the initial setup smooth and hassle-free. The build quality of the AudioBox 96 is robust, giving a sense of durability despite its compact size. The metal chassis feels solid, and the controls have a reassuring responsiveness. This is particularly beneficial for someone like me who's still learning the ropes and may not be as gentle with their equipment. The two combo mic/instrument inputs are perfect for a beginner's setup. They accommodated my dynamic microphone and electric guitar with ease, and the 48V phantom power was a welcome addition for future microphone upgrades. The clear LED indicators helped me monitor input levels, avoiding the common pitfalls of recording too hot or too low. The audio quality exceeded my expectations. The 24-bit resolution and 96 kHz sampling rate provided crisp and detailed recordings, even with my limited experience in mixing and production. The low-latency monitoring was particularly beneficial, allowing me to hear myself in real-time without any distracting delays. For someone just getting into recording and producing music, the AudioBox 96 includes all the essentials without overwhelming with unnecessary features. It strikes a fantastic balance between simplicity and functionality, giving beginners the tools they need to explore their creativity without feeling intimidated. In conclusion, the PreSonus AudioBox 96 is a fantastic entry-level audio interface for beginners. Its straightforward setup, sturdy build, and impressive audio quality make it an ideal choice for those taking their first steps into the world of home recording. Whether you're a singer-songwriter, podcaster, or aspiring producer, the AudioBox 96 offers a solid foundation for your creative journey.
