Can this trap be used out of doors?

It can be used outside only if it is covered, otherwise dust, debris, leaves, rain etc will get on the glue and make it non functional to catch mice and rats. You can use an old shoe box or something similar to cover the glue traps. Make sure you cut a hole in whatever box you use so the rodents can get to the trap.

Is this trap baited or non-baited?

Scented but not baited. Put on some dog food, nuts, crumbs or any little thing. Also good to put this in a small box to keep birds and pets off of it. You have to use a variety of trap types to outsmart them.

Does this have a black glue? Concerned if someone steps in it, the black glue will ruin the carpet.

If someone steps on it, they're taking the tray with them. It seriously sticks. Keep spray oil or goo gone around. The glue actually is sort of golden in color and no fun at all to get out of a dog's paws.
