A Must Have for Garmin Nuvi Users
I automatically ordered this product along with my Nuvi 660 after reading the reviews. Anyone who has the nuvi's Needs This portable bean bag mount. Don't let the style of it fool you. It will accomodate any dashboard including one's with a curve. There are no directions, but all you do is take off the mount piece that comes with your garmin nuvi, and attach it to the bean bag plastic bulb on this mount. Don't worry, it won't break. Flip your anntenae up (square piece on the back of your garmin nuvi). There is a groove located bottom of the garmin nuvi, attach it to the square groove on the beanbag mount. It justs pops right in. Place bean bag mount with your garmin anywhere on your dash board and then just adjust up/down/sideways whatever is your comfort zone. There is a little square lever under your bean bag mount that you just pull up to dislodge your nuvi from the the beanbag style mount. That's it. This product is sturdy, it stays put even through the sharpest of turns or in the of event of a quick breaking. The beanbag mount is portable, can be placed on the floor of your car, glove compartment, etc. ************************************************************************** 2nd Review ************************************************************************* I initially wrote my review March 11, 2008 giving the garmin 660 5 stars. I would probably rate it about a 3 1/2 stars. My reasons are the following: In a large metro area it takes several minutes to obtain satellite due to tall buildings. My major problem occurred once I got out of underground parking (which of course you get no reception at all) and was forced onto the main one way street (by the car behind me)with absolutely no idea on which street to take to go home. I had to practically go on the outskirts of the city before my garmin would say "ready to navigate". After going in circles before the garmin took over, it miss-led me onto a street where I should have turned left to get onto the highway instead of right. Now this was in my first comments regarding the garmin about it telling you to turn one way and then you find out that you needed to turn in the opposite direction. I guess I did not mind it so much because I was already familar with the area, but now, I Do Mind It. I have been seriously lost twice now with the gamin telling me to take a left and it turns out to be a right and vice-versa. All streets have been around for over 15 years, so nothing new. I plan on keeping my map with me in the car from now on and use it in unfamiliar areas. I like the blue tooth, but those who I talk to on it don't. They say it echo's on their end. If the price keeps going down, say around $100.00 it will be worth it. I paid $329.00.

Garmin GPS Portable Friction Mount is the best I've tried. Zero movement in turning and braking.
It's the only GPS mount I've used that does a great job! It's as awesome as everyone said it is, though my Volt dashboard is uneven, bumpy, sloped, etc. It stays exactly where you put it regardless of hairpin turns, braking, etc.etc. Zero movement. After driving with my Garmin GPS mounted on the new holder -and sooo easy to read and hear -- I came home and threw away my old GPS mount, which had been pricey, unstable, sometimes inconvenient, and not manufactured by Garmin. No regrets!

Best solution for portable GPS mount
Not much I can add that hasn't been said. I have used in-dash and phone GPS and portable GPS with windshield mount. I won't go into detail about these alternatives except to say that this surface friction mount bests them all. I broke down and purchased a Garmin 50LM after struggling with Google Maps on a Blackberry Bold for too long. I chose this mount based on recommendation from Amazon and the accompanying reviews. This is a very well made product; I am pleased with the quality. The mounting arm rotates 360-degrees in its clamp atop the friction plate and, of course, the plate itself rotates infinitely on whatever surface it is placed. This gives infinite rotation adjustment in the horizontal so that most any surface contour can be accomodated. The standard Garmin ball and bracket holds the GPS in place. The fit is tight and secure and allows the face of the GPS to be moved to the desired angle and plane so that it stays there. The 50LM has a 5-inch screen and though this model does not work in portrait mode, I tested to see if the friction mount could accomodate it rotated to portrait - it does; the 2xxx and 3xxx series 5-inch screens rotated to portrait mode should work fine. I agree with all previously mentioned benefits. I found another one today: while I was programming favorites from my recliner, I had the friction mount laying on my chest with the GPS pointing toward my face and my laptop in front of me also. Many of my favorites are super rural and I needed to use Google Maps on the laptop to get a general idea of where I wanted to locate my favorite. The friction mount worked great for this as I could work on my laptop and go "hands-free" with the GPS. There is plenty of weight and surface area to keep the friction plate from moving in car. Also, I notice that this allows the friction mount to soak up most of the vibration while isolating it from the GPS unit itself. I'm glad I spent the extra money on this best way to use GPS in the car. My 2012 Taurus has an area in the middle of the dash that is recessed about one inch from the main dash. I have no idea why they designed it this way, but it is a perfect spot for the Garmin friction mount. Highly recommended.

I bought this because I didn't want tell tale sucker marks on my windscreen saying come on I've got a sat nav so break in and get it. Its a bit bulky so carrying it arond or storing it in the car is not easy (except for in the boot) but thats what helps make this work so well. I thought it might move on the dashboard going around corners; no it doesn't. This holder is not secured to anything and can easily be transfered from car to car, I have a Picasso with a rounded dasboard, my wife has a golf cabriolet with an angular dash, this works equally well in both. The sat nav is very secure and can be positioned for perfect viewing wherever you place it. No drilling, no suckers, no falling over, no sliding around... It is excellent and does everything it needs to incredibly well.

Ottimo prodotto, ben fatto e funzionale.
