Harmony Lasso Security Cable for Touring Kayaks

Looked around for different options for this, but I must say this was really as advertised. Fits Wilderness Systems Pungo, on roof racks and works great. Agree with other comments that this is not full security (cable could be cut), but feel much better about leaving on the roof over night. The cable is good quality and not thin, but sturdy and appears to be well coated. Combo works well and easy to use.

Bought for pelican trailblazer 10 foot kayak. This lock is for a "touring kayak" which explains why I might have had trouble. I was unable to get this to work with my intended goal of securing my kayak to a post. It probably works fine on other boats but the nose and tail of the trailblazer was too round/wide to get a good tight grip. even with considerable effort to get the lock tightened, I found that I could just slip one end off of the boat and then the whole thing was free. Be aware of the geometry of your boat before you buy.

Impossible to secure to my kayak rack, there is no way to tension it and the cables are so thick. The cable is too long to hold my kayak securely and if I loop it around one of the wooden beams on my rack just one more time, it wont reach at all. I have spent hours upon hours every time I lock it back up trying to figure a way to get it on securely and I am now convinced it is impossible. I can always walk up and pull each loop off either end of the kayak.

Well made and they do the job. I ordered one for each of my kayaks. Would have liked to have a shorter length for when I'm locking the boats to my roof top carrier, which is where I utilize this lock the most.

This product, although well-made, does not work with my kayak (Bass Pro Ascend D10). No matter how tightly the locking cable is pulled, I am still able to slip one of the "lasso" loops off the end of the kayak after the product is locked. This may well have to do with the width of the kayak which prevents the loops from being pulled very far from the ends of the kayak. This product may work well with other brands or styles of kayak, but unfortunately it doesn't work with mine.

Am using the Lasso security cable to keep my Necky Rip 10.6 kayak secure on the beach - which is next door to a public access to the lake. My kayak has a 28-inch beam and the cable fits just fine by looping a cable around the kayak. Got a length of quality chain to wrap around a tree and to the Lasso cable, secured by a weatherproof padlock. The Lasso cable has a nice thickness and protective covering so it won't scratch your yak. Easy to install and am very happy about the large numbers on the combination lock. Don't need to wear my reading glasses to dial the numbers to open the lock. I'm very happy with the quality of the product and ease of use.

I'm not even sure HOW one would lock a kayak on top of a roof rack without some kind of lasso lock like this. At first I couldn't really understand it (when looking online) but read the reviews and sure enough it really DOES work and work easily and well. The lock comes with a handy carry case, and it's also nice that the combo lock is built in (half on each piece of the lasso) so no need to keep track of a padlock. Plenty of length to use on my 14.5 foot kayak, with plenty of length to spare for a longer kayak. Heavy duty, solid, no complains, glad I got it! I suppose this lock works OK on kayaks with real sharp bow and sterns but it simply slipped right off our snub nosed kayaks no mater how tight we tied it. I had to return the product and figure out another way to secure our kayaks.

The lock is easy to set, customize and use. The cables seem a little long, which makes them more useful I guess, but hard to tighten on smaller kayaks. Also it should be noted that if bringing into other countries, Canada in my case, there are large duties fees.

They presented it as two locks on first photo, but there is only one. Of course they put on the description 1 item, but it is a no honest trick to get people to buy to put 2 locks on the presentation photo.
