Great for PTZ camera control and Simple to understand
Great tool! It is allowing me to have RS485 connectivity and control to a PTZ camera and coming off of another device that will control my camera without the manufacturer's utility. Simple to connect and does the job without any errors. I have been using this extensively without fail. I am a fan!!!

Works without trouble
These usb to serial converters are often finicky. This one just worked immediately. Nice.

Took a few minutes for all the drivers to settle down and work.
I got this particular maker since it was rated as being very compatible. And after waiting a few minutes for Windows 11 to correctly load up all the drivers for Com3 to appear; it does indeed work without fail. Nice clean signaling and now works without fail. Sure, I may make a mistake; but at least I don't have to worry about the communication.

Worked and saved me money
I used this to connect to a vision scanner at work. The manufacture sold a cable that was around $300. So I figured I’d give this a shot. Very easy to connect and good instructions. Only quality issue I noticed was the circuit board is exposed. So, using this in the elements may be a problem. I personally keep this in my office and only bring it out when I need it.

No drama, works perfect
Even without installing the included drivers on disk, this device was detected by my computer, drivers installed and worked perfect immediately. Love the fact it has a long USB cord attached so I don't have to worry about stresses from a device getting bumped at my port. Also love the fact this unit has both screw down terminals as well as a DB9 connector, adding to its versatility. The com lights on it to let me know anything is happening are nice and bright too. Couldn't really ask for more in an adapter of this kind.

Does not receive in RS485
This device appears to only transmit using the RS485 protocol, not receive, by design. You cannot use it to receive transmitted RS485 from a controller to view the output from the controller on a PC screen. If I'm wrong, then my unit is defective.

Works great (ignore other people’s comments)
I’m using rs422 to connect to a very old legacy system. The other comments where people say this doesn’t work are wrong. It’s their lack of understanding how computers and electronics work. Firstly, the driver is ftdi. By default this should work plug and play with windows 10+ and Linux. If it doesn’t, just download the correct ftdi driver for your operating system. Second, people saying the signal is too weak and such… ugh, it’s because they don’t have the gnd connected. I get it, the schematics don’t display a common gnd, so people don’t bother. But you need a common gnd on all electronics. It’s how each device can reference voltage! The schematics didn’t display it because it’s common sense.

Works well, but drivers are a bit tricky
Good quality and reasonably well-built, though there is no built-in termination resistor. Add a 120-ohm termination resistor across the + and - lines if using this for RS-485. Worked well on Linux (Raspberry Pi) as FTDI drivers are installed by default, but was slightly more difficult on Windows. Windows 7 attempted to use pre-existing serial drivers (which did not support RS-485) instead of using those on the install disk. One of these drivers had to be uninstalled for Windows 7 to recognise and use the FTDI drivers on the disk.
