Replacement OEM Idle Air Control Solves Intermittent Idle Problem
This part is a choice replacement for Idle Air Control on 2003 Ford Taurus with 637,753 miles. Original part lasted for most of this run-time. On hot days with multiple short trips, engine wouldn't idle at startup. Had to cool the part and clean carbon from the valve to start and idle the engine. Aftermarket part from Napa was okay for a short time, but produced high idle at startup (cold or hot engine), surge and high idle with vehicle stopped (closed throttle) after a long drive on a hot day. Fuel economy was also less with the aftermarket part. This new OEM part restored reliable start and idle on hot days, improved fuel economy and restored smooth shifts and downshifts. Note this vehicle consistently gets 23-25 mpg in combined freeway, mountain, and city driving with 500 miles/week commuting and errands. I've used Motorcraft synthetic blend 5W-20 and 5W-30 oil with 3000-5000 mile change intervals, for my tour of ownership starting at about 51,700 miles.

Fixed my Ranger's rough idle instantly!
My Ford Ranger was idling incredibly rough and occasionally stalling at stoplights. I tried cleaning the old valve, but it didn't help. I decided to spend the extra bit for the Motorcraft CX1946 rather than a cheap knock-off, and it was worth every penny. It was a direct fit, took 10 minutes to install, and the truck is back to idling smoothly. Don't waste your time with aftermarket brands; stick with OEM for this part.

2003 Ranger Edge 3.0. Connector not in OEM position, but works fine - solved A/C issue at idle
Part installed on 2003 Ford Ranger Edge, 3.0 flex fuel engine, 2WD. Had issue where engine rpms dropped at idle once A/C cycled on, thereby telling ECM to shut off A/C compressor to prevent an engine stall issue. Replacing this cleared up that issue. I had previously purchased non-OEM IAC's, but returned because connector orientation was so far off, my wiring harness wouldn't reach. Not a lot of slack with that. This had same issue, but not to the extent of the others. OEM AIC connector was at the 6 o'clock position. Part I received had it at 3 o'clock. Wiring harness connected reached - just had to run the wires to the inside of the throttle position senson (sits below this part) rather than over the outside like it was before. Would have preferred an exact match, but at least it works.

Buy this one rather than aftermarket if you want your car to idle properly.
This is for the 3.0L OHV engine typically found in a Taurus/Sable or Ranger. Buy this one to make sure you get a quality-made replacement part that functions correctly. I've seen literally dozens of aftermarket IACs that don't fix idle problems because they are either poorly made, or because the parts stores are handing out the wrong parts (BWD brand) due to a catalog error that has been going on for a year or two now! When you replace your original IAC, make sure the replacement matches EXACTLY! If it doesn't match, you are going to have idle problems. I put this on my Taurus and it cleared up my cold-start stalling issues. I had cleaned the original IAC, but that didn't fix it. Before replacing the IAC make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks (another very common Taurus problem).

Good part... good price
This part solved my issue in a snap. I don't understand why it says it's not the correct part for a Mercury Sable gs 3.0l because everywhere else I looked for it, it states that this is the correct part and when I installed it in my Mercury, it fit and is working great.

Fixed issue on Ford Ranger 2003
Very happy with this unit. I was experiencing a high idle and high rpm between shifts on my 2003 Ford Ranger. This unit resolved these issues. Note: after installing the new unit, I found I had to unplug the battery to reset the computer before I noticed a difference.

Works great
replaced the iacv with a junkyard part from another ford taurus. Still had the same erratic idle issues at idle once the car warmed up. Finally caved and bought this one from amazon. Installed, cleared the codes by disconnecting the battery. now the car runs smooth as ever.
