Puritan's Pride Oil of Oregano Extract 150 mg Softgels, 180 Count

These oil of oregano pills are an absolute staple in my supplement arsenal. My son started taking them back during COVID, and I’ve been consistently impressed with how effective they are. The softgels are easy to swallow, and I love that they contain natural antioxidant properties without any harsh additives. Since adding these to his routine, I’ve noticed several key benefits such as he’s stayed healthier, even when people around him was sick, so it offers stronger immune support. Also, I have noticed that it’s great for my joints and general aches. It improves digestion as it keep everything regular and balanced. We use it as a natural defense during seasonal changes or when we feel run down, so it offers antifungal and antibacterial properties. And because I am a germaphobe, I appreciate this the most and that’s that it freshens breath and support oral health too. Also, I appreciate that these are rapid release, so they start working quickly, especially if I take them at the first sign of feeling under the weather. I usually buy a different brand -I let's call it "product X" - and those capsules were definitely oil of oregano. You can ssmell it as soon as you open the bottle. So when THESE arrived, I opened the bottle and immediately noticed an absence of the scent of oregano. I didn't trust it. The capsules were also twice the size of the pills of Product X I was accustomed to taking, leading me to believe that, if anything, the oil of oregano was diluted in this new brand. I got a needle and dug out one of these capsules, After a little effort, I poked through the skin to reveal the liquid inside. As soon as I withdrew the needle, I could smell the oregano...that nauseating smell with which I had grown familiar, every time I opened the bottle of Product X.. I dabbed with my finger the tiny bead of liquid escaping from the puncture mark, and placed it on the tip of my tongue. Instant burn! That's how you know you have the real stuff. The oregano in the capsule can burn your tongue or skin if used directly without diluting it. So why did I have trouble smelling the oregano in this product? The skin of THESE capsules are much thicker than what I was originally consuming. The capsule's doubled size Is due to the thickness of the skin, not the volume of substance. It also explains why I didn't smell oregano when I opened the bottle; the thickness insulated the liquid, preventing an escape of scent. Now, here's why this thickness of membrane is important: When taking Product X for UTI (which works for me as an option superior to antibiotics...but check with your doctor, first), I always felt nauseated about 25 minutes to an hour post-consumption. THIS brand doesn't make me feel sick. Why? Since the skin of this product is thick, the contents do not spill into my system until the capsule is in my intestines. On the contrary, Product X immediately opened in my stomach, causing gastric distress: nausea, heartburn and oregano burps. The skin of Product X was so thin, I could press it between two fingers, and it would pop. In fact, many reviews of Product X claimed their pills arrived in a big messy clump at the bottom of the bottle. Why did this happen? During shipment, either temperature, rough handling or air pressure was too much for these tiny fellows, causing the pills to expand and burst mid-shipment. I'm looking forward to seeing how this brand works. I did like the fact that Brand X was instrumental in healing my UTI, in spite of it's now-revealed issues. My only concern with this product is whether the Oil of Oregano makes it into my system before being excreted. Will the thickness dissolve in time to be useful? I will leave an update after I use it a bit. I'm not sure I can return to Product X; their supply was depleted when I tried to reorder. If this product works, I'm not sure I want to return to Product X.

For the reviewers that think the product is misleading, you don’t understand oil extracts. This product does have 1500 mg of oregano, but it comes in oil form, which has been extracted from the 1500 mg oregano and equals 150 mg oregano oil at a 10:1 extraction rate. Studies have shown oregano is shown to be just as effective as antibiotics. I had a recurring infection a little over a year ago that resulted in recurring boils and a carbuncle that put me in the hospital. IV antibiotics and another dose of 14 day antibiotics six weeks later still did not cut the infection out of my system. It recurred again a few weeks later and that’s when I decided to take oregano because the antibiotics were messing with my system. At the first sign of a boil, I’ve taken two oregano to start and then one at night and one in the morning for a few days, up to a week. The boil goes away in about three days. They were still recurring, but less and less frequently. So I believe that they will become nonexistent or almost nonexistent at some point and I’d rather have this oregano on hand then end up on antibiotics every time. Added bonus is that oil of oregano has been shown to effectively treat upper respiratory conditions. Sore throat? Congestion? Strep? Cough? I have a family of six and we can kick anything within a day or two with oregano, zinc, extra vitamin C and vitamin D. Our family also takes elderberry and echinacea pretty regularly during the cold and flu season. We are on our fourth year doing this and our family of six has been almost illness free. There was one day three years ago and my youngest had a fever for 24 hours, a week last February where my oldest didn’t feel well, and we had the start of what seemed to be some colds during these past 4 years that went away by the next day or two. That’s it. NO MISSED WORK OR SCHOOL IN 4 YEARS.

I don't know why the picture advertised says 1500 mg, when on the bottle I received there is no mention of 1500 mg anywhere, but only 150 mg. Also, all of the 180 pills are all stuck together in one big clump on the bottom of bottle, and it's very hard to get them apart. ***Update*** Received a replacement bottle, and these pill are not clumped together and it seems OK. Same lot # as clumpy bottle.

I bought this product because I have been researching that yeast overgrowth in the body can cause havoc. We may not show symptoms outright but may have other symptoms like cloudy foggy brain, fatigue, loss of memory just to name a few. As I get older, I noticed the loss of muscle, but also my activity is less. Last year my body went thru trauma where I almost got sepsis in my blood for ignoring a four day fever. It turned out my fifteen yr section had an airpocket left over from surgery that had bacteria in it and there was infectious gas in there. I thought I had the flu so I just took Dayquil and nyquil. By the fourth day when the fever wouldn't go away with meds, I was at 103f, I was sent to thehospital, where I had surgery and was there for 7 days and waiting a month for an open surgery sound to heal, wearing a vacuum machine until then. I am still recovering from the over antibiotics they had me on. Which probably destroyed a lot of my good flora. But a couple of months later, I am sleeping to much. My energy level is low. I forget things all of a sudden. I yawn and sleepy all the time. What is going on? So for some reason I come across the word Candida. Oh yeah! I forgot! This bacteria can cause a lot of problems. and when we are on strong antibiotics, they kill good and bad flora,so I s4 days ago I started a regimen of probiotics, has started taking 1 pill of oil of oregano in the morning, cause I read it could be a little harsh on the sto.sch at first, and magnesium at night, to help with healing and sleep. The firstday, I had energy. I am on the fourth day and yesterday I went to the gym to slowly dI weight lifting to regain my muscle. I have a computer job where I sit all day. I try to walk during my breaks and lunch. Also I had little activity while at hospital and the month I wore the vacuum machine so I noticed my muscles got flabby. I also burnt one of my knuckles while pulling food from the oven two weeks ago. I put trip!e antibiotic ointment on. Barely healing. I popped the oregano oil and in two days I was healed!!!! Imagine what it is doing in my body? So now I am excited to heal my internal self and reap the positives results. God is good.

I wanted to write this review because I have suffered from sinus infections and the antibiotics have ruined my stomach. I was on precision, inhalers, etc you name it. I kept hearing older generations say take oregano oil it works. I was scared to take it at first because I have never heard of it, I became very desperate to find a remedy. This product cleared my sinuses and also help with the Asthma symptoms I was having. I also feel it helped with Acid reflux. You can not go wrong with this product. Alert. This product does not work overnight. Take one in the morning/one at night. I'm not a doctor, but this is what I did. Slowly but surely, I started to feel more clear. I don't suggest you take more than 15 days. You should see change by then. The reason being this clears bad bacteria but can also clear good. Dealing with a bit of yeast from it, but it's well worth it. Get women's probiotic that helps with urinary and vaginal Ph level or Honey pot wash sold at Target. This product did exactly what I wanted it to do. Still clear and have not taken any more. Keep this around the first sign of a cold.

we have been uneasy, for years, about taking antibiotics, due to the damage to your natural good bacteria, as well as the reduction of your body's natural antibiotic or resistance system... ...though we would be certain to take NOW Saccharomyces Boulardii,60 Veg Capsules during the antibiotic regimen and continue back with extra probiotics after; Bio-Kult Advanced Probiotic Multi-Strain Formula Capsules, 120 Capsules ..., we still felt like we were damaging our gut flora as well as our body's natural defense system. so recently, the holistic use of oil of oregano in place of antibiotics was brought to our attention and we could not be more pleased! not only does the oil Majestic Pure Oregano Oil, 4 fl oz - Natural, Therapeutic Grade Oregano Essential oil work very well on toenail fungus and other topical skin fungul ailments (excellent treatment of occasional psoriasis flare-ups, that required Rx Desoximetasone), these gelcaps of oregano oil have been more effective as an antibiotic, without the breakdown of your natural resistance and the gut flora harm!.... it is not a snake oil or a placebo effect!... my wife and i know our bodies well and are certain these cured a lung infection recently, that could not be cured without antibiotics in the past. i simply maintained my standard probiotic dosage and added these gelcaps, and was better within a week later. we are absolutely sold on oil of oregano, in place of antibiotics. if you are a holistic healer of self, you likely know about this... if not, but have a sense that holistic options may be better and share the same concerns of the negative aspects of antibiotics, then try these instead... there is plenty of validating research out there ("oil of oregano") and we think you will be healthily pleased! :-) be well and Thank you! :-)

Product looked good .

All the capsules are stuck together. I had to cut open the bottle, to remove the block. Now I keep that in the fridge and put on a fight with it every time to unstick a capsule. Some are coming off ruptured and leaking the oil. I'd give one star only, but for the taste of the oil - it's pleasant, nice smelling and tastes like good quality. Pity for the condition of the capsules inside.

Upon delivery, the capsules were all melted together in one solid mass, with no moisture absorbers in the bottle. Very disappointing.

Much recommended for ones with recurring stomach infections: SIBO/IBS. Gives relief after a couple of days. Don't expect it to work as fast as an antibiotic. It can, however, successfully replace the antibiotic, in just a few days. Go for it.
