Battalion Surf Spinning Rod - 2 Pieces

Rod’s build quality hits above price point. Name brand (Fuji) components used throughout. I got the 8’ model to pair with a Saragosa 6000 for both boat and surf fishing. Perfect multipurpose rig. 🤙🏽

This is a great rod for the price paid. Very sensitive. This is the lowest price 9 foot graphite surf rod I could find for the price. It is a lighter rod action than most surf rods found. Mine is the 9 foot with 1/2 - 2 oz weight rating. I mostly use it for surf perch fishing when the surf is up and I can really huck out a 2 oz egg sinker on a c rig. It seems to be a good bait fishing rig as well . Very happy and highly reccomend

I used this down at the OBX, North Carolina and paired it with a 4500 series Daiwa BG. I didn’t catch anything big as you can see, but using a 3 ounce weight on a bottom rig and a fish finder rig I was easily able to cast out and catch some fish. It was comfortable to use each morning off the surf and was really solid in build. I can’t wait for my next beach fishing trip.

What you would expect from a Penn rod. Great product and amazing performance. However, the shipping aspect is horrifying. I’ve ordered 3 rods from here in 3 weeks and every one of them has been damaged. Why? Because they ship these 300$ combos in clear plastic and clear plastic only. Literally no box and not even a little bubble wrap. I don’t understand the concept of Penn making such quality product to get shipped with no protection. I don’t ever leave reviews but i want people to understand this needs to be addressed. Even the replacement rod combo I ordered after I was refunded came the same way and damaged. I love Penn and these rods are wonderful but just order from the Penn site. I only came here because everywhere else specific rods were sold out but better to bite the bullet than order from here. I really like this rod, I’m a fan of Penn reels as well. Only negative is the butt of the rod is too big to slide into the pvc sand spikes. It was a easy fix as I just took some sand paper to the rubber end. Fits now as you can see in the picture. would recommend!

I first purchased this back in November 2015. The rod performed great overall and I was very satisfied with it. One shortcoming of 2 piece rods are that they come apart after a number of casts. therefore, you need to e mindful of that otherwise the top piece may go flying on a cast. However November 2018 my rod broke right below the point the 2 pieces meet which rendered my rod unusable for the reat of my fishing trip. It would seem the constant assembling and tightening/resitting of the 2 pieces wore out the bottom piece and that caused it to weaken then eventually break. Other than then above, I would recommend this rod to anyone who wants a great reliable rod. For the record, I bought another 2 of these rods. Keep in mind all my fishing is saltwater.

Had this rod for few months and have caught quite a few schoolie stripers as well as a few bigger boys. Excellent rod for top water and bucktails. Plenty of power for the big boys. I have it paired with a Penn clash 4000 and 30 lb braid.

Casts a mile! Has plenty of backbone for bigger fish while remaining sensitive to the slightest of nibbles

Handle below the reel is too long and makes for an uncomfortable and awkward casting action.

I already have the 9 feet and i'm very satisfied ! Landed a hole lot of stripped bass with it. I bought this one (11feet) to cast further from shore and with a heavier weight !

Use it for striper fishing. Paired with a 6500 series cabelas salt striker bait feeder.. lots of back bone and light for a 10 footer.
