for what exercises can the barbell pad be used?

Barbell Pad is primarily used in Hip Thrusts, Squats and Lunges. However; for extra safety we recommend using it in all the exercises where barbell rests on shoulders and thighs.

My straps seem to be incorrectly engineered, both the hook and loop of the velcro is on the same side. Am I misunderstanding how they should be used?

That’s correct. You have to loop it through the metal hook

How comfortable is it to use the pad for hip thrusts? I need really effective cushioning for doing hip thrusts

Our barbell pad is made from high quality foam, which is soft and protective. The 1.5 inch thickness of the foam gives highly effective cushioning on the thighs while doing hip thrusts. The soft nature of the foam makes it comfortable to use and relieves your thighs of pains. We would recommend using our barbell pad for all exercises in which the barbell rests over your thighs or shoulders to make your workout more comfortable and enjoyable!!

Will cushion also work on a curl bar?

I don't think it would work on a curl bar, depending on what type of curl bar you're talking about
