Don Pablo Coffee Growers & Roasters How we got our start What makes our product unique Why we love what we do Review: I forget exactly which one it was but the flavor and brew tasted perfect. It might have been the Ghirardelli brand and ... - A few years ago I had received a few small bags of ground coffee that go on sale during the holidays. I forget exactly which one it was but the flavor and brew tasted perfect. It might have been the Ghirardelli brand and It was the best cups of coffee I've ever had. I own a Keurig and enjoy Starbucks coffee but this holiday pack of coffee seriously tasted the best. It was creamy, robust, and not bitter at all. With that said, Keurig and Starbucks brew excellent coffee but nothing compared to that once in a lifetime cheap gift bag. I have no idea why that coffee tasted amazing. All I can think of is the combination of beans, roast, grind, freshness, hint of chocolate and brew that made it the most enjoyable cup of coffee. Perhaps it was partially my morning breath or the amount of chemicals in the water that day, who knows. Anyway, onto the review of this organic coffee... I just got done drinking an entire pot of this stuff that was brewed in my percolator brewer, Texsport 9 Cup Stainless Steel Percolator Coffee Maker for Outdoor Camping and the coffee tasted fantastic! It reminded me of that once in a lifetime cheap gift bag coffee. I'm so thrilled since this coffee has become the best tasting coffee I've ever had. The reason I ordered this 2lb bag is because I want to save the Kcups for the weekday convenience and brew this on the weekends. My wife and I drink way too many Kcups during the week and need to come up with a new plan for our massive coffee consumption. During the weekend I end up drinking several Kcups and wanted to start brewing pots again which is the primary reason for the percolator. # Pros - Medium-dark was exactly as I expected. I like bold coffee but not burnt tasting like Starbucks and not weak like McD's. - Beautiful beans. Grabbed a handful for inspection prior to shoving them into the manual grinder. - By far the best tasting coffee brewed in my percolator. - Organic and I like what they are doing. - Best quality for the price. - Rich and creamy bold flavors, hint of chocolate. Not bitter or sour tasting. # Cons - None. With the pros and cons out of the way, I would like to mention; I'm no "coffee connoisseur" and don't pretend that I'm an expert in taste testing coffee. I simply enjoy drinking coffee. I remember that gift bag coffee being one of the best I've ever brewed. Sure I have a problem and need to have my morning coffee, my afternoon coffee, and evening coffee... I'm a software developer by trade and I drink a lot of coffee. The best coffee is the one that you remember and sure it could be McD's, Tim Hortons, etc... I've consumed a lot of coffee from numerous coffee shops here and have not experienced the "wow" moment like I did with that cheap gift bag coffee and I did with this. I have brewed so many different K-cups and the brands I enjoy the most are the Newman's Own and San Francisco Bay Fog Chaser. If you enjoy those brands, I recommend this coffee but please note, this coffee does not taste like the brands mentioned. For those wondering about brewing this in a percolator... I ground the coffee beans in a manual grinder - Most Consistent Hand Coffee Grinder & Coffee Press - Ceramic Burr Manual Coffee Grinder fits in Aeropress - set on a course grind setting (kosher salt). I use the water from my RO system. 1 heaping table spoon of grinds per cup. Watched the glass viewer on the percolator get to the right color. Pour and enjoy. Review: Pictures Don’t Lie - Beautiful and Delicious! - A Google search of “fresh roast coffee bean appearance” brings you this; “Glossy Appearance: Fresh roasted coffee beans typically have a shiny, glossy surface due to natural oils and aromatic compounds rising to the surface during roasting. This is especially true with dark roast.” I have included photos of these new beans alongside two other “high quality”, and both more expensive beans, so you can see them as a comparison. All 3 were properly packaged in airtight breathable valve bags, like these Subtle Earth Beans. From the moment you opened the bag of Subtle Earth, the wonderful aroma and visual superiority was quite evident, and even surprising. The beans were smaller, but very uniform in size and color, with a beautiful sheen and visible oils, and there were hardly any ugly beans. On the contrary, the comparison beans (one of which is the very popular Volcanica beans) the majority of them were ugly beans, cracked, split and extremely dry looking, as well as a wide variation in color/darkness. The smell of the comparison beans was noticeably off and weak compared to the Subtle Earth beans. On to the important part – our first brew of Subtle Earth Organic Coffee made the most delicious cup of coffee I’ve had in a while! As long as they consistently maintain this quality, Subtle Earth is my bean of choice!

Surprisingly Delightful
I wasn't expecting a lot with this purchase but the reviews drew me in. Making the first cup and tasting it with nothing added... Just black, is the only way to know it's true taste. This one hit the mark. It has a good bold taste and beautiful dark color. The beans are beautiful as well. Dark and shiny. Adding that it is a low acid coffee as well is just a bonus. This one satisfies.

i like it!
I like the fact it's organic, low acid & medium/dark. It's smoothe and tasty. I grind the beans for espresso and I'm relieved I like it!

Excellent, fresh, full bodied flavor and aroma
Purchased this coffee based on previous AMAZON reviewer comments and so far I am extremely pleased with the purchase. I actually prefer a lighter to medium roast coffee but decided to purchase the medium dark roast beans to try first. When I opened the resealable bag upon arrival, the freshness and aroma of the beans were very noticeable! I store my beans and ground bean coffee in stainless steel airtight containers to ensure the freshness will last. The fresh whole beans have a shiny appearance and are very aromatic by themselves and when ground are even more so. I use a stainless steel, percolating coffee maker (similar to what you use when camping) to brew my coffee and this coffee comes out great tasting, not a burned over-roasted taste and not too strong with a slight hint of chocolate, cocoa flavored aftertaste. Like the fact that it is certified USDA organic and fair farmer grown. I usually use less ground coffee as I do not like it too strong. Additionally, the finished brewed coffee does not taste bitter a feature I like which does not upset your stomach and give you caffeine jitters if you have several cups in the AM as I do. Overall, I would rate this coffee as excellent in flavor, freshness, aroma, after taste and a great value for the price and would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a medium-dark roast (probably closer to medium roast) coffee that is high in flavor and low in acidity.

Best I have had. Organic produce less stomach acid then GMO or non organic. PH test in Photos. PH is about a 6 opr 5.5.
Very good coffee, fragrant with hints of chocolate and vanilla. Flavor is smooth and mild, not bitter, so good you can drink it black. I ordered this by mistake, I wanted Colombian ground coffee. This is a whole bean meaning you need a coffee grinder to use it. It’s better then Colombian coffee brand I was buying local. The roast is fine, I like a lighter roast but it’s good anyway. I wasn’t even going to buy this but I needed to order additional items to get free shipping for non food item needed for home repair. Anyway, this came up in the search and I thought it was pre-ground Colombian and didn’t even know until today when I checked the package. I was suffering 20 years of stomach trouble,. Bad acid heartburn and reflux and changed my diet, the problem continued. Now I drink gallons of coffee so I thought maybe it was the coffee. Changing to organic coffee fixed the problem and I was so happy. Even better, the organic coffee is stronger so I use less than I did before when I was using the GMO grocery store coffee. Now I cannot make any medical claims here just saying this worked for me and I am very happy and will buy again. The price is good too, competitive price for a good quality coffee. I am NOT a coffee expert but I have had some very good quality restaurant coffee here and this one is way better. Now to be fair, Manhattan roast is popular in this area so it is a totally different experience, I did try some of the more exotic coffees from Hawaii and it wasn’t as good as this one. Use fine grind for drip and filter machines. You can use less that with factory grind. - I added PH test in the Photos for anyone interested. Water was also tested. See the discussion for details.

Great bean, our go to!
We enjoy this coffee and have subscribed for it. I like the organic nature of fair trade and possible supporting indigenous people. Hopefully that’s true and this company isn't using a front, because this is really good coffee and the price is reasonable . So give it a try, you won’t be sorry.

Aromatic & smooth, our main coffee
Truly one of our favorites! We just keep coming back to this coffee. We recently invested in an espresso machine and needed more beans than the standard bag was giving. This has low acidity, does not seem to upset my stomach, and is smooth to the taste! The aroma is so pleasant and you just look forward to making your coffee.

Excellent!
I ground the beans very fine and brewed the coffee very strong in a Moka espresso pot. The first sip sparkled and energised. There were pleasing high notes with depth and intensity of flavour to the last sip. The only caveat I have is that the packet was very big, like a catering packet. It will take me a long time to get through it and I worry that the beans may become dull and stale before I reach the end. For regular household use I think it would be better to buy 2 or 3 smaller packets at a time rather than one big one. However, I'm not sure if smaller packets are available.

Incredible Value
I didn't know what to expect from a coffee as cheap as this. When I opened the bag, it did smell pretty burnt. However, the first cup changed my mind. Actually pretty delightfull, did not taste overly burnt/bitter at all. Suprisingly smooth. The flavour doesn't have too much depth or is overly complex. But, it just makes a good cup of coffee. If this was double the price, I'd give it 3.5 stars. But, at this price point the value is phenonemal.
