For the past few years Case quality went downhill. I stopped buying new ones. So did many others. But that's pretty much in the past. Now the rare bad one is just that. Rare. Which brings us to this one. Full size Trappers are a big folder. Handy on the hunt but not scootin' around town or such. The Mini Trapper is a bit more manageable. This one tossed in a pocket rides well. In a leather slip, it's clean and ready. Good old fashioned carbon steel blades. Yellow synthetic scales. Sharp and well assembled. The Case of old has returned. Priced within reason for an American made knife. Can't wait to pull this out at a steak house and start slicing away! With a full size Trapper people panic thinking it's a bowie knife. The Mini Trapper should lower the blood pressure of the more skiddish folks that loose their minds at the sight of a pocket knife. Being carbon steel, you need to wash it if cutting foodstuff. And then oil it. Otherwise it's not going to be pretty for long. Use it. Keep it clean and oiled and you can give it to a grandson to ruin. But in the mean time go for it! It's a Case XX pocket knive made to use!!

Perfect, great size.

Mine has superb "walk and talk" when opening/closing, perfect blade alignment, and arrived in a new, seemingly unopened box, tightly wrapped in paper inside, with the manufacture date of 12/16/15 clearly printed on the outside, and extremely sharp blades out-of-the-box, both of which are solidly seated with virtually no lateral wobble. The 1095 Chromium Vanadium steel is better than stainless steel without requiring extra care unless you expose it to water or other conditions that cause rust. The very pronounced half-step when opening and closing reassures me that I won't accidentally cut myself when closing the blades. Handle is 3 1/2 inches long, blades are about 2 1/2 inches long, both about 1/2 inch shorter than the regular Trapper, which is pretty big for a pocket knife, making this model more reasonable for EDC. The spey blade is the right tool for cutting food that is wrapped or inside a container and you don't want to puncture it with a sharp tip. The classic yellow Delrin handles reduce cost compared to bone and make this easy to spot if you drop it. If you must own just one Case pocket knife, this is an excellent choice, plus like every Case it's made in the U.S. of A.!!!

I wanted a classic "grandpa" type of knife for myself and I found this beauty. Its clean, smooth, and sharp. The folding mechanism is smooth but it takes a bit of force to pull the blades out. I'm ok with this though, it ensures that it won't just flip open. I would advise to be careful when folding the knife though because it is very sharp and once you start folding you want to have a good grip on the blade and have your other fingers out of the way or it might snap shut on your fingers- it would definitely cut you pretty good if you're not careful. Overall the color is good too- its not super yellow- more like a really discolored white, which I like. I also would like to see more of Case's other options on Amazon as well.

This is a good knife but it is not a mini trapper it is the full size trapper with a pocket clip . Not exactly what i wanted but i will keep it
