A very good unit for a very good price
This is a very nice weather station. Once you get it set up the way you want it, it performs well. It has almost all the features that I wanted, and they all work as advertised. The temperature readings are accurate, as is the barometric pressure (see below). I never pay much attention to the humidity readings, as those sensors are subject to all sorts of variations (However, after many months of ownership, I find that the humidity readings are helpful, if not perfectly accurate). The only negative that I can think of is that it is not possible to set the clock to the 24-hour format. I like to use the 24-hour format, even though I'm in the USA, but for most users this would not be an issue. Here are some other things that potential buyers might want to know: 1) Setting up most of the features is not particularly difficult, but manually setting up the barometric pressure is a bit of a challenge. Many people won't care about that, but I do. I wanted to set it to the reading at our local airport, and it took me about 15 minutes to get it right. The procedure is addressed in the manual, but it could be explained a little more clearly. (The unit does have a 14-day "learning period" during which, I assume, it's supposed to eventually automatically detect the barometric pressure. I neither wanted to wait, nor did I trust this feature to get it right, so I switched from "automatic" to "manual" to set it myself.) 2) The display is very clear and colorful IF IT IS BELOW EYE LEVEL. The more it is above eye level, the more washed out it will be. In other words, you want to place this weather station where you will be looking down at it. 3) It is unrealistic to expect devices like this to actually forecast the weather. This is tough enough for supercomputers to accomplish. If you want a real weather forecast, go to a weather website or watch the Weather Channel. 4) While the literature never explicitly says so, I believe that the time-date function is tuned to the National Bureau of Standards atomic clock [after months of ownership, I have concluded that this is not so; the clock runs just a little bit fast and has to be manually reset]. There is a separate button battery to power this function, which is why the time and date are correct right out of the box. Of course, you do have to set the time zone and whether or not daylight saving time is used in your area. 5) The product information clearly says that this unit is designed to be plugged in. Do not expect it to be otherwise. The batteries are only for back-up in case of a power failure. Be sure to put in the three AAs so you don't lose all your settings if the power goes out or you have to unplug the unit. 6) Read the manual.

Great quality weather station!
I really love this weather station! It says it’s rated to -4°, but I had it reading down to -9° one day so I was really impressed! It displays all the information I was looking for. The outside sensor has very good range and long battery life. I just wish there was a way to dim the screen just a tiny bit as it’s bright. Maybe I can, I just didn’t get that far during setup. Highly recommend this weather station if you want well organized daily information to go about your day.

Acurite's "Customer Service Support" Upgrade!
This is a follow-up to my original review concerning Acurite's Customer Service support. My first review is just below this update... Update: On January 12th, Acurite sent me an email asking for additional information. They stated that the weather station was warranted for one year and that they needed purchase information that would prove my date of purchase, model number, etc. To my delight, Acurite mailed a new weather station replacement and I received it on January 23rd. Therefore, I have changed my two star review on Acurite's customer service to a four star review. Just know that if you need to contact the Acurite customer service people, it is a very slow process. However, they did come through. My hope now is that the weather station backlight will function well and not die out on us again! Original Review: I purchased and received our Acurite Weather Station Model 02077M on November 9, 2018. Set up was reasonably easy. The Weather Station works with batteries but it can also be plugged in. If it's plugged in, the batteries work as a backup if there is a power outage. When the Weather Station is plugged in, there is a "backlight" that lights within the unit. It stays on constantly and allows you to see all of the readings plainly from across the room. Nice feature. If it's not plugged in and just runs on batteries, it's appearance is very dark, but it continues to track all temperature reading. Without the light, you literally have to go up to the unit to see the readings. After setting ours up, we left our Weather Station plugged in with batteries in for a backup. The back light worked for 6 weeks and died. The readings were still there, but no light. I called the customer service phone number listed in the Instruction Manual and listened to a recording that told me there was no longer a customer service number. I was to go on line to contact them. On December 26. 2018, I contacted them at their website and sent an online email to customer service describing the backlight dying. I received an immediate automated response back saying customer service would review the problem and get back to me. Today is January 8, 2019. It has been two weeks. Acurite Customer service never responded. Would I purchase an Acurite Weather Station again? No. The reason: Acurite's "Customer Service Support" doesn't exist.

Good buy angle of display affects brightness. Humidity not accurate!
This re-laced my 25 yr old indoor/outdoor temperature gauge (Radio Shack!) the display has much more information and is colorful. Set up was easy and quickly connected to the outdoor sensor. This unit required plug in and my old unit was all battery operated. My only critique is the display is Affected by angle. In other words when I mounted it on the wall it looked faint. If I tipped the angle toward me it was perfect. So a wall mount doesn’t work as well as the shape of the device when mounted on a wall gives it a bit of upward angle, making it appear dim. If I set it on my dresser it has a better angle and appears fine. Depends on your situation. The humidity readings are way off. Colorado winters are known for dry air and this is reading 44% indoor and outdoors

Very nice weather station.
I bought this for a friend for Xmas because he saw mine and liked it. I've had mine for a few years now and it keeps working just fine, and the neighbor really likes his too and is always saying how much he likes it.

Bright display
2.5 years later, it has gone whacky. Temps are way off half the time. We had an Oregon Scientific that lasted 6 years before needing a new outside unit. If we could find a replacement for the outside part, we would still be using it. Alas, OS has gone out of business. Hopefully, we can replace the outside part and it will work again, but I don't think we would buy another set.

Decent thermometer / hygrometer
This is my 4th Acurite weather device. The other three are still working, some for as long as 12 years. The caveat though is that the outdoor temp/humidity sensors only last for about 4-5 years, even if they are kept protected from the elements. So that's why I now have 4 devices. Instead of just rebuying the sensor, I buy a whole new unit with updated capabilities. Hence this purchase. :) This unit has some updated capabilities- Auto time set and a button battery to maintain the time during a power outage with no batteries. The display has been updated somewhat from the older units but still suffers from limited off-axis visibility. (90 degrees horizontal and 45 degrees vertical). It's designed to be viewed from above the unit so the display begins to fade even when looking at it straight on, and disappears entirely when viewed from 15-20 degrees below the unit. The information on the display is easy to read and attractively displayed. So many inexpensive weather devices make your head hurt when reading the display. There's a 14 day learning period to get accurate forecasts so I can't comment on this particular product, but the other Acurite devices I have, have been pretty accurate overall. The unit was initially off about 4 degrees indoors and 2 degrees outdoors (measured against a professional weather station) but it can be calibrated so it's accurate. Many weather stations don't have this capability. Overall a decent temp and humidity meter, just wish it had a large field of view.

Check the outdoor sensor has lithium batteries
Very easy to set up. Display clear and reliable. Lots of automatic updates. Worth remembering the outdoor sensor requires lithium batteries not alkaline. Overall very happy with the item.

Awsome product
Had it for a couple years now and can't say enough good things about it. Accurate, good visuals, easy to glance at and get your info and because the base unit plugs in, no batteries to replace. The outdoor sensor does have a battery, but it's been in use for 2 years now, it's sitting outside at 10 deg F and it still shows a strong signal. Did I mention that the base unit shows the signal strength of the sensor so you know when to replace the battery outside ... I have had other competitor's units in the past and it seemed there was always one of them that was needing new batteries. This one has been a pleasure in comparison. I highly recommend this unit
