Gemma Jones once thought Sal Gabrini could be a keeper. He was, in truth, the man of her dreams. But after she didnโt hear from him when he had promised to stay in touch, she wasnโt thinking about him either. Even when she travels to his turf, to Seattle, to attend a stuffy lawyerโs convention, sheโs bound and determined not to give Sal a second thought. The fact that she had refused his sexual advances probably had everything to do with why he didnโt follow up with her, and she understands that. But that understanding only makes her all the more determined to keep him at armโs length. She might have been known for her slamming body, but that didnโt mean she wants the man of her dreams to only want her for that body. But the convention turns out to be so boring that Trina, her friend and business partner, encourages her to give the man a call. If nothing else he can show her the town and ramp down the boredom, her friend insists. So against her better judgment, Gemma phones him. When he doesnโt return her voice mail message later that night, she wants to kick herself for even bothering. Hunky businessman Sal Gabrini arrives back in town after a trip to Jersey. When he sees where the gorgeously exotic Gemma Jones has left him a message, he realizes how much he actually misses her. He shows up at her hotel, catching her off guard, and that one proactive move takes the pair of would-be lovers on the most tumultuous, yet sexually and emotionally gratifying rollercoaster ride of their lives. Sal has to decide if he is willing to risk it all for the love of a good woman, and Gemma has to decide if a player like Sal Gabrini can ever truly change and become the man she will need him to be. Their tempers flare, their personalities clash, but their love for each other becomes the cornerstone that could actually make their relationship work. In the first book by bestselling author Mallory Monroe that focuses on Tommyโs younger brother Sal, Romancing Sal Gabrini is an interracial romance that takes the readers on a compelling journey of love, sex, and tears. Review: And the Romancing Continues! - The latest Gabrini saga this time featuring Sal and Gemma packed a passionate punch. I knew they would be good together, but I had no idea just how smoking hot they would be. Sal with his trunk load of flaws, personally and emotionally. Gemma with her higher road and absolutes that she just will not compromise for anyone. My only issue is one that I've mentioned in the discussion blogs, I am starting to wonder if Miss Monroe is really a white man in disguise. I don't know of any black woman-regardless how dark her skin that refers to her skin tone as `black' as Gemma does in the story. Remember the song `Brown Skin' by India Arie. I don't know not a big thing but something that keeps gnawing at me in the back of my mind. Also the guy on the cover messes up my imagery of Sal. I imaged Sal like James Gandolfini from Sopranos that guy on the cover needs to go. I thoroughly enjoyed this story as I do all about the Gabrini men. They are without a doubt my favorite. This story leaves poor Tommy and Grace romance in the dust. They will definitely need to step it up a notch to compete. Who could have known all those years talking smack about Tommy and his `black women' and now look at Sal with the biggest ring in his nose. If you've read any of the Romancing series you have to read this one-you will not be disappointed! Excited to see there are more stories on the way! Review: ROMANCING SAL GABRINI...DELIVERED IN SPADES!!!! - Ms.Monroe "Romancing Sal Gabrini" did not disappoint; you created a professional woman with "Gemma with a G" character and you delivered from the inception of the novel until its conclusion. Kudos to you for allowing Gemma to know her self-worth and acting accordingly! We know that the Gabrini men fight hard, and they love equally as hard, and Sal is no exception. You gave us a glimpse into Sal's life so that we could see where his "hardness" comes from, and you tore away his bravado and exposed his vulnerability, as part of his transformation. I love that Sal does not take himself too seriously and he owned up to his shortcomings, which forced Gemma to acknowledge hers as well. Sal is never going to be a saint, but this is what makes him unique and such a great character. Sal and Gemma make a dynamo couple and I look forward to reading about them as they embark on their journey together. I also envisioned Tommy with a type of woman with Gemma's strength. Ms. Monroe, in my opinion, this book is truly one of your best; you gave us a well told story without a lot of histrionics.

Mallory Monroe ....... I'm struggling with the words.
I've read the two Tommy Gabrini books and now Sal's. The characters are fresh, well crafted, fully realized people that I fell in love with. The fact that we meet tough, alphas who are vulnerable in love is brilliant. That is because they do what they have to in spite of the women they love .... because of the women they love. You are truly a gifted story teller. With that said, I would like to share something about reading romance novels. I started young like most of the author bios I have read. Because of writers like you young girls are going to have examples they can emulate. I read exclusively about, blondes, red-heads and brunettes with, blue, gray and green eyes. They always had pale, creamy skin. But, I somehow managed to imagine my caramel skin with nappy brown hair and eyes that appear black because they don't reflect enough light to give detail, in every freaking character. The benefits of my imagination were many. This lower middle-class kid from Spanish Harlem wrote well enough to get into college on scholarships. I joined the military and unless someone asked or I volunteered no one could figure out where I grew up. I was never ashamed of my origins. It made me, strong, street-smart and tough. Granted my New Yorican comes out with my family and friends. But I know the difference. The ONLY thing that gave me pause in any of the books was the way people spoke. As if the only audience for the books was one who didn't speak better. I felt myself get caught up with every grammatical error. All of the characters spoke the same way and that was sad because you went to so much effort to create such wonderful people. I learned a while back, I don't have to write for the lowest common denominator. Readers, movie goers people who buy music will always gravitate to what is good. Bruno Mars has a huge fan base not dependent on race but on the songs he puts out that are well written. I'm not saying the characters shouldn't sound real. But if you put someone in a boardroom, they need to sound like they can hold their own there. I kept going back and saying, "They didn't just say that in a business meeting". I love your work but unfortunately I won't read more because I can't believe that no one in the world of the Gabrinis speaks better than what you've written. Sorry.

Mallory Monroe is the BLEEP!
You know, I'm at a point of being so invested with Ms. Monroe's characters that I don't even have to read the books description to know that I'M BUYING THE BOOK! Especially if I see the name "Gabrini" in the title. I have NO idea how she's able to formulate story after story and ALL of them are thorough, entertaining, suspenseful, and HOT without ever leaving us waiting a year for the next installment. Amazing! And Mallory, I LOVE that you having given characters besides Reno & Trina a story! I remember reading the very first story of the Mob series and thinking, "Oh, I wonder what will happen to this or that character?" I have yet to be disappointed. Having said all that, I know that there is only so far THIS particular series can go. While I hope that none of the characters (particulary Reno, Tommy,or Sal) that Ms. Monroe's fans have grown to love die off in this series, I'm on pins and needles waiting to see how this series will phaze out, or how her next series will begin. What I do know is that I'm hooked and will probably following this author for a long time to come! AWESOME book!

BWWM Romance
Ms. Monroe let me thank you for writing a true BWWM romance. So many times when I am reading a interracial romance it seems the black woman is describe to be so light that she can change colors when she blush and they have hair and eye colors like white women. And yes we have black women that have light skin no problem with that I just do not see them with light skin, color eyes and long straight hair as much as it is written in interracial romance which make me wonder where some of these authors are living at. I am not saying the woman has to be black as night but if she is that is ok too, but if I wanted to read about a white woman romance I would not be looking in the African American romance. Thank you for writing about a black strong and educated black woman. I enjoyed Sal and Gemma story I only wish it was longer and I look forward to reading more in regards to this couple. I would recommend this book for anyone who wanted to read a good BWWM romance.

Sal is the Man
Sal is the kind of alpha anti-hero I've come to enjoy. There is something about a man living on the edge of right and wrong that is thrilling (only in my books of course). Sal having a past he could not escape while trying to live a life worthy of Gemma is my kind of story. I loved that Gemma held her own in this story. She stands up for herself and makes no apology for who she is and what she stands for. She also does not allow the opinion of others to cloud her ability to see that person for who they are. The chemistry between the main characters is strong and believable. The storyline and plot are also done well, it kept my interest from beginning to end. The story was relevant and not overdone. The issue of race had more of a central plot in this story but it worked in order to understand the secondary characters. Two things that kept this story from being a 5 in my opinion were the small number of typos that I found a bit distracting and the ending felt rushed. An epilogue would have helped round out this story a great deal. I would certainly continue this series with the next story. This author has a really good story telling ability.

Sal and Gemma; love at its best!
Sal is the man! He is sexy, confident, bold, dangerous and boss...Gemma is the perfect woman for him. She knows when to call him on his bs, when to let him lead and when to soothe and give him a lot of love. Sal needs a lot of love. His rejection from his mother and father has caused Sal to be doubtful of his self worth to a woman. Even though he has a loving bond with his brother Tommy; he is not the one Tommy confides in. Reno is. I think Sal feels like he is always on the outskirts in relationships with the people he loves. Like he can only reach a certain level of acceptance. Therefore, Sal tries to hide his hopefulness of finding someone to see the real him and love him unconditionally with a lot of bs. Gem saw through Sal's bs. She saw the honest, honorable, loyal and loving man Sal was. A man hiding behind a lot of pain from not being accepted as he was. Because Gemma was feeling some of the same in her life. The wonderful thing about Sal and Gemma's romance is that it was more real. They laughed, argued, made love, walked away from each other, cried and reconnected with each other. In this book, Gemma and Sal set down strong foundation to build their love upon.

Sal and Gem the journey begins
Love the Gabrini men, so Sal is a tough character to understand. His relationship with Gem is hesitate at first but builds into love. Henna is independent and demands respect, so they are two strong willed individuals who can't keep away from each other. I watch to see how the long distance romance pans out.

Hot, Hot, Hot
I'm new to this genre (BWWM) and I'm not african american, but I am a black woman. I loved how well-developed the characters were, and since this is my first book, by this author I realised reading this book that it would be helpful for me to read the other books in the series to fully get a grip of the characters. I loved Gemma and her strong, no nonsense personalty, but also her willingness to give into Sal. I'm glad the issue of race was addressed, because so far in this genre I've found it's not been touched upon, and it's not realistic to expect there to be no discussions on this subject. The reason I didn't give the book 5 stars because there were far too many uses of colloquialisms that I don't think suit Sals' character. e.g "He didn't play that" I mean, c'mon I find it hard to believe that this would be an Italian American's speech formation. I also found Sal to be a little too domineering for my tastes and the him starting a fight just to proove he's a man was kinda crass. It left me turned off by him. Aside form that I did like this book a lot.
