Seems pretty good for the money. I wished that I had skipped cheap and basic cable testers. I had a break in a 50m cable run and wanted length testing - which worked surprisingly well on this tester. It did over state the total cable length a little but it did help me find the damage. Note that only one end of the cable needs to be plugged in to the tester and the other end left unplugged. I have seen a one review that suggested both ends of the cable need to plugged into the tester, which is not the case.

Continuity check works well, wire tracker too. Cable length measurement is not very reliable at shorter lengths, for me, it is only fairly accurate for cables over 10 meters long. NCV works like in many cheap multimeters - approximately. PoE testing sometimes showed me nonsense - even with standard Cisco equipment. But overall, for the money, it's a pretty decent tester, so far I'm happy.

I've used this lots for tracing network cables around the house, testing newly terminated network connections and for checking lengths, and it works brilliantly, it's been so useful. Other than remembering to move to the right network connection on the tester when you change modes, it couldn't be easier. The included cables are for Cat 3 voice connections, so if you're testing a Cat 5/6 connection don't use those, use another cable if you're testing say a socket, otherwise it will only test 3 out of the 4 pairs.

A great bit of kit, not sure why there are so many 1 star reviews. It's found so many cable faults for me. You do have to have it plugged into the right test port for the relevant test, and for the length test, the other end of the cable should be open. I don't expect it to be accurate to the neatest metre, but as long as you allow for a reasonable margin of error you can usually find where faults lie if one pair measures a different distance to the others, say one reads 18m, and the others all read 20m, test again from the other end, if you get 20m and 2m, you've roughly found where the problem lies. Just make sure it's disconnected at the other end when you test length, it's caught me out many times!

My manager has the more expensive NF-8601 for tracing electrical cables in new build apartments. It's great for finding the ends of cables that have been left in walls and not pulled out during second fix. I thought I should be fine with this cheaper model from the same company but it can barely detect anything. Apparently the cheapness is not just the black and white screen, the power is limited too. If you need a cable tester that can find a cable more than a few meters long behind more than a couple of inches of plasterboard wall then don't buy this

Has the potential to be a very handy tool when working with network cable. Has some great features like cable measurement and continuity testing. I bought it for the tone which worked well and helped me find where a cable was running although it wasn't strong enough to trace it through the wall so took longer than I was hoping. Unfortunately the continuity testing seemed to have a fault on the unit I received and so it showed the same wire having a fault no matter which cable was inserted. The wires connected to the crocodile clips are very thin so wouldn't hold much hope on them being very durable. All in all slightly disappointed with the unit I received but if you get one in full working order it is potentially time saving, but most definitely not suitable for commercial use.

I have recently purchased this kit for the installation of some Cat 6 cabling. It gives you a length ready quickly and the mapping is very useful, especially if you mess up a plug like i did. The tone probe appears to better than I read and the volume without an earpiece is good. I found it to be worth the money. The one down side is having to switch between sockets on the test for the different functions, but that's a minor thing and wouldn't let it put me off this.

Surprised how well this worked, definitely paid for it self already. Worked better than a standard mod tap that I normally use, found a fault other equipment couldn't.

I'm a telecom professional and this tool is great! I'm able to accomplish multiple tasks with this one kit that would normally requires multiple seperate testers! I was a little skeptical at is capability for the price but once you started getting the hang of its wonderful! Im able to test continuity, tone and trace cable, determine the length of cable and even test POE! There is a little manual that comes with it but it's not really a complicated tester. Just make sure you are using the right port on the tester to match the test you are trying to conduct! The cable toner i found to be very adequate! You do have an option to test via digital or analog settings and you can adjust the sensitivity for a solid confirmation. It does come with various adapters for different testing conditions. I was to thrilled about the case. I like the layout and the availability of storing things away but I'd prefer a hard case to house it. There have been a couple times ive had something on the toner wand driving and it would turn on and beep but if thats just a preference thing BOTTOM LINE: Highly recommend for the price! The convenience and funtionality that is packed in this kit is definetly worth this price!
