We replaced the holding bolts right away as the ones that arrived snapped almost instantly. This could be because we live with Devon clay soil. But in raw function this is an excellent auger, we can use it to dig down just about 70cm. It takes a little practice and you need a "nack" to get it working but when you do it works a dream and far less than a powered version. We have used it to put in gate posts and fence posts. Normally a combination of this auger and then the post bangers to finish off gives a really strong tight and stable fit.

Very well made piece of kit which fastens together very strongly. The handle and tubes are very thick steel and I had no. trouble getting down to 600 mm in undertaken 5 minutes of easy effort. Wish I'd had one of these for the last 50 years. Excellent value and quality! 👍✅

Pleased with the discount offer. Easy to order and was delivered quickly as scheduled. Good for small holes in garden, especially where soil is loamy. Likely to be harder going on sticky clay. But does the job required.

Easy to fit together, just make sure everything is fitted tightly (spanner included, but need another to hold the bolt to tighten) I would recommend using a socket set and spanner. Dug a hole in clay soil with bricks and rock with ease, highly recommended and should have purchased one years ago to save my back. Purchased a few VonHaus recently and can’t fault the quality to be honest.

This a good sturdy piece of kit for your domestic garden. It’s nice and large and heavy. It doesn’t look flimsy at all. The only issue I have with it is that you really have to push on it to get it to remove some dirt. I know at the moment the ground is really dry, but I was hoping for a better result than just scraping the surface. At the moment, my job has stopped because I’m not getting any results. Maybe it is for soft already dug over soil and not the hard ground that we have at the minute. I might have to resort to a bit to fit in a drill, which I was hoping to avoid.

It was easy to put together We used it to make a hole for the rotary washing line. It worked really well in the soil which was full of rocks and stones. We had tried to dig the hole before we got this. It made light work of getting the washing line put up.
