can a stop switch be installed on this turbine?

it has a built in brake/ if the wind gets too fast and too much current is generated the Controller sends the charge back to the unit and causes it to function like a magnetic brake. The unit comes to a stand still until the wind dies down and the charge lapses.

Does the system come with batteries? If not what type do I need?

No, it does not come with batteries. You can either design a 12 volt system or a 24 volt system. I'm using 4 6-volt batteries wired in series for a 24 volt system. It powers a 24 volt to 120 volt inverter. Hope this helps.
