I held off on buying this for a long time due to the price. But after recieving this I have to say that the money was well spent. It IS a lot to spend on what amounts to a fly killer. On the other hand, the quality of the molded plastic parts and assembly of this device are impressive. Speaking as a guy who used to be involved in manufacturing, the quality and tolerances used in this assembly are designed to last years. This is not a toy that your kid will break in a few days, or will fall apart, or become warped. I removed some shipping labels, filled it with table salt, and was killing flies in 5 minutes. You have to get fairly close for a SURE kill, but you can disable and main from up to 3 feet away. 2 feet is a possible kill probable disable, anything within a foot or so is likely going to be a lethal hit. But it is random, I have had flies that required multiple hits. The thing is, this is a very quick and lethal process that is poisen free and is MUCH quicker and more successful than a swatter.I killed about some flies that congregated around my landlords kitty dishes in about 5 minutes. And I RAN OUT of flies. This was OUTSIDE. Of course, a few gusts of wind and a few minutes later, and more flies came, but not as many as had accumulated over a full day. The problem is my landlord is elderly and he puts the dishes RIGHT AT THE DOOR OPENING, so that when you open the door, the flies come in. I bought the Bug Assault for the flies inside, but I will likely be cutting down the ones outside a few times a day, since it is so easy. I was nailing 3-4 in a single shot that were around the rim of the cat food dish. There were so few alive after I cleared them, that I wasn't as worried about letting flies into the house when I went back in. At any rate. I have to admit, it's entertaining. I am a softy when it comes to animals, birds, and fish. But I draw the line at bugs. I don't want to torture them or anything, but I won't lose any sleep assasinating flies. In fact, it is very satisfying after having them torture me so often and not being able to get them all. I recommend this product for post traumatic fly bugging trauma. Get your revenge right here.

I've been eyeing the Bug-A-Salt for awhile now but it was hard to justify the $40 price tag. After a fly got into our house and caused a war between my husband and I, I realized that I couldn't complain about his bug eradication techniques if I wasn't willing to fulfill my duty of participating so I went and bought the Bug-A Salt gun. Of course the first week after I got it, it rained nonstop giving us a temporary reprieve of the invasion of insects, but not allowing me to test the Bug-A Salt. Unfortunately, during that time I had to deal with the mocking of my purchase when a "fly swatter or shoe could do the same thing" from my family. But as soon as the sun started shining and those buggers came out from their hidey holes I was ready for them! I have spent the last 2 days decimating the juvenile spotted lantern fly population around our home and it is the most satisfying thing in the world. Shoes and fly swatters wouldn't have had nearly the same effect as the Bug-A-Salt. The bodies are piling up on the patio just waiting to be swept away. My husband and son have even gotten in on the fun of it and now begrudgingly admit it is worth the price. We are using table salt and it works great on the smaller insects. I have only come across 1 fly so far and it took 3 shots- 1 to stun it, 1 to kill it and 1 to send a message to the others that we were not messing around! We have already refilled it 3 times due to the amount of bugs that are invading. I may go ahead in the future and order the Bug-A-Salt salt that is a larger grain but for now table salt is doing the job. We have declared war on the insect world and are kicking their buggy butts. Not only that but Bug-A-Salt gun has given me a power I never had as I no longer cower in fear of the bugs waiting for my husband to save the day. Pro's- - Absolutely addicting - Good accuracy from a distant - Uses table salt Con's- - Price - It is hard to cock the gun Final note- If you are afraid of bugs, or think getting bug guts on the bottom or shoes or dealing with a nasty fly swatter with the remnants of bugs past is just gross then this is really for you. It is similar to a nerf gun but serves a purpose and does it well. This gun will have you out hunting the bugs before they come to you. I've always said one big reason to keep a man around is for killing bugs but this gun just proves we don't need them for that anymore!

My wife got me the Bug-a-Salt 3.0 for Christmas. I was expecting a silly little gimmick of a toy. No, this is actually pretty legit. The plastic is thick and sturdy. The design is ergonomic and is comfortable to hold and use. The sights DO actually work. I highly recommend using the sights because we were missing a lot of shots by just eyeballing it. Using the sights will land the salt cloud right on the bug. This is a very short range weapon. The claim is 2 to 3 feet. I’ve found it depends on the size of the bug and the thickness of their exoskeleton. Small, light bugs like mosquitoes can be taken at 3 feet; however, I found large and thick bugs like Palmetto Bugs (tree roaches) can take up to 6 shots at point blank range. At that point, you’re better off using a fly swatter, stick, or your shoe. We’ve had an outbreak of milkweed assassin bugs around here. We find them in the house. Their bite is painful. My daughter is afraid of bugs so she’s hesitant to kill them up close with a tissue. This shotgun comes in very handy. On those bugs, one shot under 2 feet will mortally wound it. 2 shots at that distance will instantly put it down. So performance varies with distance and the physical attributes of the insect. Spiders are rather fragile, but I haven’t tried to kill any of those so I’m not sure about performance with those. Uses normal table salt. Don’t let the kids shoot the pets or each other with it. The salt granules shoot out at high pressure and can certainly cause eye damage or blindness, “You’ll shoot your eye out, kid!” I’m super happy with it. I was expecting a toy. It’s a legit pest control weapon.

I have wanted one for years..Well, I finally splurged and got my self one. These are as described and then some. Great for flies..yea sure..but even more fun for other bugs too! Got Carpenter ants? Obliterated. Swarming Termites? Obliterated. Horseflies are the most fun. Just put out a bit of honey..(the game warden calls this baiting the field). And..great fun out on the deck during dusk and after dark when moths, millers and other flying critters come to visit. Helps improve your hand to eye coordination as well. Highly recommended you get one! And a big can of Morton’s Table Salt!

Lo que este producto ofrece es convertir una actividad que puede ser desagradable, como aplastar una mosca, en una actividad divertida, en la que (al menos en mi caso) se convirtio mas en una caceria. Otra cosa que vale la pena tener presente....tal como lo dice el producto, esto NO es un juguete y puede facilmente lastimar a un niño, por lo que se debe tener cuidado en que no lo utilicen.
