HAHA! It will barely kill flies. If you hold it no more than a few inches away, you can knock the wings off flies, and sometimes kill them. Other than that, you're lucky if you take a wing off and make them suffer. These are absolutely worthless in killing anything else. I've held it directly up against beetles, wasps (not the best idea), spiders, and other insects, and they usually just laugh it off. I grabbed mine to try to get the stink bugs off our sunflower heads this fall and they don't even budge. Unless your mice have a salt allergy, the fly gun will not do anything to them. They may actually enjoy having the salt on the floor to lick up.

How much salt does it shoot out? Does it create a mess if used indoors?

It’s roughly about a 1/8 tsp per shot I’d say. It would be messy in the house if you were shooting multiple times.

Can the 3.0 fire coarse grain sea salt? I’m hoping that it works like 00 buck shot and reg salt is like bird shot.

I watched one of Lorenzo’s vids and he mentions that the lawn and garden model(green/yellow body) was designed to shoot a little coarser salt than other models.

What is the Effective range for a fly?

Depends on the species and size of the animal we're dealing with. A horse fly is going to be 1-2 feet, any farther might take a few follow-up shots. Little house flies can be downed mid flight at 4-5 feet by a skilled shooter.
