To start, I'm not going to hit you with all the spec data. Plenty of sites for that kind of measurement. I'm going to tell you, being a 20 year IT professional, this is a solid processor. I replaced a Xeon E3-1225 with this processor. Even coming from a Xeon for productivity and virtualization, this is a solid upgrade. My system is stable, performs faster, programs execute faster, and my VMs within my labs operate far more efficiently and provide the fast operation requires for a IT professional. If you are considering the 10600, then this is worth the consideration if you're in the productivity space. If you're in the overclock gaming space, then, no, this processor isn't the best option out there. However, it is reasonably priced, has some good mainboard support options, and I even ported over my RAM from my 4+ year old Xeon system without any problems. So, this is not the MOST economic processor. However, its relatively economic, stable, has good hardware support options, and provides a solid improvement over prior generation Intel products. Point is, if you're looking to buy a solid CPU, this is a good bet. If you're looking to overclock the thing into a lava pit in your tower, just go elsewhere and don't give negative reviews when YOU are the one out of spec.

Choosing a processor is all about economics. With so many processor choices on the market, the trick is finding a balance between price and power. For me, the 10400 was the perfect balance. A lot of reviews are recommending the AMD Ryzen processors, but it seems most of these reviews are geared to gamers. Unfortunately, the latest Ryzen processors do not include graphics processing on board, and the reviews ignore this point because gamers always include a graphics card in their builds. Well I am not a gamer, and don't need to waste money on a graphics board. So the fact that the 10400 comes with onboard graphics was a selling point for me. I play WoW, and have no problems playing with the integrated UHD chipset. With 6 cores and hyperthreading, this processor is like buying a previous-generation i7. I can run multiple virtual machines on my desktop with no slowdown whatsoever. Nor do I want to overclock, since reliability is more important to me than squeezing a few more clock cycles. I think this hits the perfect balance between power and affordability.

So my good friend and roommate is an avid computer geek. But he's also fashionable so we call him geek Chic. Anyway he bought me a 55 in TV this year and I felt so best I felt that I should at least give him a nice gift so I bought this Intel core and I felt very pleased. He bragged about how easy it was to install and I was made things run so much better I understand that with his type of job he needs to be operating one of the best computers with the fastest speed. You can't sell it if you can't build it because you can't build it it's because you don't have the material. I'm so impressed with Amazon sending us this wonderful and tell core that he bragged about being easy to install, but he also just said anything better. Elizabeth we try to do for Christmas or any holiday try to make things better for our friends? So I would highly recommend this I'm encourage everyone to look into it that needs a better Intel core

Notably faster than the i7-6700 it replaced plus two more cores for six cores total. Good price. Excellent for someone who does day-to-day stuff on their PC and work mainly in Microsoft Office and other basic apps plus games. Obviously, if you're doing lots of video encoding or apps that benefit from multithreaded tasks, a Ryzen might give you better value for your money. But this is faster in gaming than the Ryzen 3600 and even beats it in some "productivity benchmarks" so it was the best processor for my use case: MS office, video conferencing, very light video editing and GAMES. Not overclockable, but that's fine. You can still use fast memory on a z490 motherboard and get notable gains in performance. Low 65w TDP means it runs very cool and can maintain max turbo till the cows come home.

This CPU is definitely an upgrade from the quad core i7-4770 (non-K) that I previously had! Glad to see the i5 now has hyperthreading, thanks to AMD. But, I may have gotten the worst performing 10400, as my Cinebench R20 and R15 scores are noticeably lower than the benchmarks you'd see online (both single core and multi core and I've got all my drivers/bios installed and up to date). Regardless, I'm very happy with this purchase as this CPU is no slouch. Currently have it paired with an Asus Prime B460-Plus and a Zotac GTX 1070. Be aware that there's two versions of the i5-10400. One has G1 stepping (pure 6 core chip and no STIM) and the other has Q0 stepping (10 core chip with 4 cores disabled, uses the newer thermal interface and shares the similar heat spreader from the higher-end unlocked SKUs). Though, the two should perform very similarly. Update 9/9/20: Went to the previous generation platform and currently using an i9-9900K. 10th generation ain't too bad, but it's best to wait on 11th generation Rocket Lake. It's rumored to use a 14nm backport of WIllow Cove... or just wait on Zen 3. For now, I'm waiting to upgrade my 1070 to the new RTX 3080 when it becomes available at my local Best Buy.

At one point in time this was one of the best budget processors you could get along with the 10400f, which was back in 2020 to 2021. We've moved past that era but this CPU can still hold its own. The i5-10400 non-F at least comes with integrated Graphics, which can be useful at times. I bought this to test a couple questionable lga1200 motherboards. The reason I picked the i5-10400 over the i3-10100 and i5-10-400f is because the price wasn't all that much higher than the i3 and this one comes with the iGPU. With the iGPU, I don't have to hook up a Graphics card to test a motherboard. Would I buy one of these for a budget build today? No, I wouldn't. The only way I'd think of it is if I already have an lga1200 motherboard. Otherwise I would go with a newer 6-core processor which can usually be found for a similar price. I'd avoid 10th and 11th Gen processors, unless I had no other choice. The stock cooler? No, I would not use that either. Intel should have included the stock cooler that has a copper base, and it would help if they used a beefier cooler to that is screw mounted. In the past, my side hustle was buying broken gaming PCs, and a number of those broken PCs had an Intel stock cooler that had become dislodged.

I used an aftermarket fan but aside from that my PC is pretty barebones and this CPU has really been impressive. I have not run into any trouble at all with it. Its very fast and runs cool. It handles every steam game I have easily and handles cad software I use to design PCBs with ease. So far I am very happy I went with 10th gen. I saved money and for my needs my PC runs just as good as the latest gen.

Bought it for 160 and paired it with asrock phantom gaming d3 rx 5600 xt ,16 gb hyper fury x 2400 MHz tuned to 3200 MHz cl16, msi z490 pro -a motherboard and acer 165 mhz 1440p monitor. I am In pc gaming heaven. War zone and destiny 2 run buttery smooth cyberpunk looks Awsome even on low settings 1440p. I upgraded from a i5 7600 and the FPS, 1% Lows and frame drop are quite noticeable. Upgrade now while you can still get 6 core 12 threads for a low price. If anything use it as a place holder for next get i7 or i9 or just invest in these next gen gpus and run some high FPS. Tip buy the z490 motherboards for better upgrade paths.

Working well in an Asus Prime B560 Plus motherboard. Runs cool with an Arctic 12 CO cooler. Supplied Intel cooler was an aluminium core Foxconn cooler, which would probably be OK, but wanted a quieter cooler. So far CPU easily handles everything easily with low CPU usage % and runs cool. Item was brand new in sealed box and appears to be genuine Intel. It was delivered quickly and good value. Includes graphics core which uses 8gb shared memory with 2 x 8gb RAM installed.

I bought Asus h510m-e R2 from local shop and plugged this i5 10400 processor, I installed Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS and it works flawlessly on this relatively new system, of course later version of ubuntu will work too but I needed something that can run atleast 18.04.6 and above.... I also bought TP link WN881ND v1 with atheros chip and it is natively supported by ubuntu... Remember v2 is different wifi card and has realtek chip so can't guarantee

I recently purchased the Intel Core i5-10400 for my virtual machine servers, and I must say I'm thoroughly impressed.
