I don't know what the fabric is. Probably has some nylon or spandex . All I know is they are more comfortable than any other compression socks I've worn.

I'm unable to find the size correlations - how do I know whether medium or large would apply - & is it based on foot size or measurements?

I believe, for me, it was based on the circumference of my ankles and calves, as well as how tall you are. I am 5'7" and get the medium size. I hope this helps.
