Better than others
I have tried several different wooden versions and none hold up to this. It is also the only one I've found that will truly cut a full 4 inch strip.

Solid aluminum but quality control lacking a bit
Strap cutter is made of cast aluminum. My product that I received had a stray sharp piece of metal on it. Should have been removed during production, however I sanded it off so I could use it safely. Upon using the cutter a few times, it seemed to improve it's strap cutting ability, possibly because the leather was sharpening the blade. Good price for what it does, and it comes with extra blades. I recommend this, however use safety precautions as it has an exposed blade. You might want to sharpen this with a leather strap before using to avoid frustration.

Simple game changer!!!
I've had this in my hands for just hours and I already LOVE it. It is easy to put together, and SOoo easy to use! It feels sturdy in your hands while you work with it. It is a simple tool that does what it's supposed to amazingly and simplifies making anything you need with long narrow pieces. I thought I would feel unsafe and that ot would be a decent learning curve but it's just the opposite. I actually feel really safe using this tool and I figured it out real quick turning out straight professional looking straps in no time. Definitely a game changer!!

Time saver
It's a good, heavy piece of metal. I usually still mark my lines before I cut the strap, even with the width gauge. Also, it'll cut at least 2 layers of leather, and I've found that is useful for when I cut edges after sewing.

Cheaply made, right-handed only
Sloppy machine tolerances mean the guide wiggles a bit within the handle so you're risking uneven cutting. Not great. But marginally better than no tool at all.

Works best if mounted in a vice
If you mount this in a vice it's much easier to use. As for new razor blades I found if you grind a little material off the back edge of a utility knife blade it fits right into the mounting slot. Much cheaper and cuts just as good as the supplied blades.

Nice
Good quality for the price

Learning curve
It’s definitely a lot more sturdy than the wooden version of the tool. It makes clean cuts but it doesn’t do all the work for you. You have to keep tension on both sides of the leather to get a straight cut otherwise it’ll veer off. Otherwise, easy learning curve, cuts like butter and the metal alloy makes it feel like it’ll last a long time. I cut 1/4 inch straps using this with ease.

Broken tooling in hole
Appears that there is broken tooling inside threaded hole.

Quality is good
Blade is very sharp and protrudes from the item. Care must be taken
